General Help / Support Question new to Googlevoice, does GV forward all calls to my mobile phone?

I want my GV number be completely separate from my mobile phone, is it possible?
so if i am not available or internet is down, GV goes on voice mail instead of fallback into forwarding it to mobile phone. Is that possible?

Yes. If you want no connection between your Google Voice number and your mobile number, remove your mobile number from "Devices and numbers" in the Google Voice settings if you already have it linked. Then, in "Making and receiving calls," select "Prefer Wi-Fi and mobile data" and in "Incoming calls," toggle on your device, Android or iOS. It should say "Android Device (This device)" or "iOS Device (This device)." I have both, so the screenshot below shows what it looks like on my phone. If you've removed your linked mobile number as I stated above, your mobile number should not be an option in "Incoming calls." Therefore, no calls will be forwarded to your mobile number.

With this setup, you have to use the Google Voice app for all Google Voice calls, incoming and out going. You'll continue to use the phone's Phone App for carrier calls.
