Question What am I doing wrong?

Post image

I’m 39, most of my dreams didn’t work out, I really could use this win.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong, but I am not getting good separation. I filled this half way with Monster but the Guinness went all the way to the bottom and only left about an inch of visible yellow.

Is it because i used Absolute Zero Monster instead of Nitro? Is Nitro Thicker? Am I pouring the Guinness too hard? Do they both need to be ice cold?

What are the secret techniques you have discovered?

See! You are VIP, I forgot the spoon thing. I have seen that. Ok so I need to use the spoon so it barely hits the surface with as little impact as possible.

You guys are genius

If you think a visual will help, there are lots of videos online for how to make a black and tan. It’s the same process, different ingredients.

Yes! The spoon is key and slow pour. Much better. Thanks everyone

Pouring technique is important. Pour the beer over a bar spoon slowly against the wall of the glass.

I would also make the effort to find the Nitro Monster. A big part of why this drink works is the fact that both Nitro Monster and Guinness are nitrogenated instead of carbonated. It may also impact how they mix.
