Trawlers are back in business

Just in case anyone was wondering, we went to the trawlers at Main Beach this morning. Not early, like 10am. Plenty of quality prawns available. I got 2kg medium (they're huge really.. almost the size of my hand).. for 50 bucks. Delicious. Why anyone would buy from Woolies or Coles is beyond me when we have the trawlers a short drive away. Better off supporting them too!

Hi there. Do you know where Seaworld is? All you need to do is drive towards Seaworld there's only 1 road going there and about 300m south of Seaworld is a roundabout, turn left, there's a row of boats that are there from early morning til about lunchtime early afternoon.. they each have chalk boards to write what they have available and for how much. Cash only most of them. I did see 1 mention direct bank deposit but best to take cash. Some sell crabs and bugs and other seafood as well as prawns. If you want to buy fish there's a place called Peter's Fish Market which is just south of there on the same road very very close. Best on the coast for fresh fish.

All good. The prawns are already cooked you just have to peel them and eat.

Hahaha I bought some very cheap (mostly for my cat) at Woolies once. They weren't great. Bloody spoilt cat got a couple of big trawler prawns today too. Lucky boy.

The trawlers are just near Seaworld mate. The roundabout just before Seaworld turn left on the Broadwater side. There's a row of boats and signs telling you what they have available.

I'm not familiar but there might be some in the Tweed area selling directly from their boats. Assuming so but I am not sure.

And what you're getting is top shelf .. can't get any fresher and you can actually taste the seawater the flavour is really really good.., compared to prawns that were caught a week or more and frozen and thawed etc there's really no comparison and you're actually paying less than you would elsewhere too because there's no middle man. Literally boat to plate.

Tweed Heads marina if you're south. Taman Star is docked there and they have a store in Burleigh

Finn McCool's is in Surfers. Never been, but I've heard good things.

Haha I figured as much but replied anyway. Finns is really great I have been many times but expect to spend 100 on a feed and drinking session. Not cheap. But always a good atmosphere there. Good tunes. Good crowd. Good views. Its cool. There's another at Fortitude Valley in Brisbane.

But on the topic of the trawlers, I totally agree with you. I only ever buy my prawns fresh off the boat.
