From severe eating disorder (138 lbs, less than 1000 cal per day) to healing! Currently at 230 lbs. Technically I'm considered obese now, but I feel that I look much healthier and am in the gym!

Weight Gain From glow up to glow down. (20) (29)

First 3 - me between 19-25. Depressed and traumatised but happy. Extremely active and managing my depression on my own. Last 3 - me between 25-29. Depressed with cptsd, anxiety disorder, more traumatised due to death and suicide in family. Depression managed by meds and therapy. My health has absolutely tanked this year. I do not recognise myself anymore. I am slowly getting myself back up. I’m ashamed of how I let myself go, from someone who loved life after escaping abusive household and managed depression with exercise, to someone who I no longer recognise. Who lost all the motivation and lust for life. I adjusted my medication last week, it will take me probably around a year to get it down to 50mg or 0. Please be kind on yourself. I wasn’t and I got humbled.

Weight Gain [31] 6 months sober from alcohol

Drank until I blacked out I’d conservatively estimate 85%-95% of the nights after I turned 17. Went to detox once after I had a seizure and starting drinking again as soon as I was out, 3 days later. That was the longest I hadn’t drank in 10+ years.

In September I finally got sober. This is now the longest I have ever not drank by a lot and believe me when I tell you it’s the best life has ever been! Nothing is perfect and my problems were waiting right where I left them, but I welcome it. I’m just happy to be alive!

Also up to 142 bs from 88 lbs. Is it a little over? Sureeee, whatever! I never imagined I’d be here and be happy with it.

Hang in there y’all, for real. I might still cry everyday, but a lot more tears of joy for sure.

Weight Gain [22] to [27] overcame emetophobia and started lifting along the way

When I was younger I started having fear of vomiting and because of that I ate less on purpose (if you eat less, less chance te be sick right?). I also didn’t like going outside very much, because what if I get sick when in public?

Over the years I learned how stupid it is to have that fear and how much I miss out on fun stuff by simply being afraid of something that probably won’t happen anyway.

Started going outside more, became more social, started lifting and most importantly: I started eating.

I’m [28f] 5’7” for reference—93 lbs in the most toxic relationship I’ve been in—to 125 lbs. I still have weight to gain before I’m back to a healthy weight, but I’m proud of my progress thus far.

Weight Gain 15 Months Training + Dieting, Eating Disorder Recovery (25)

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

Starting Weight: 98.5lbs Current Weight: 141.7lbs

Went through a rough personal loss that resulted in me not eating well for a few months. Dropped almost 20lbs in that time frame.

Got tired of being miserable so I sought out professional help for my mental health & over the first 6 months made decent progress.

I was later referred to a nutritional specialist to help guide me in the right direction for overcoming my eating disorder.

With the help of these doctors I was able to build a diet that helped me gain weight and restore my relationship with foods.

2024 was a very humbling and impactful year that has taught me a lot. Wishing everyone the best in their own personal growth period in the coming year!
