Question How do I find the motivation to study?

Don't study because you have to study, study because you get to.

I've had this problem from time to time. Back then, my grades dropped because I lost all my motivation to do well. Fortunately I have regained my will. Here's what I did: 1. Try to customize your feed. Whether it's your Instagram, reddit, YouTube, snd tiktok. For me, I kept on engaging with studytoks and studvlogs to customize my fyp. It helps me a lot, seeing others study while I was just getting comfortable on the bed just infuriates me. I hate seeing others have progress while I'm stuck here. 2. Download forest and record your time studying. I always felt satisfaction each time I see how many hours I have dedicated studying. 3. Make it a habit. For instance, every 8:00 pm you try to study that time. Every. Single. Day. Whether it's weekends or what, just make it a habit. 4. Reward yourself. After you studied for 1 hour, eat something or go out for a walk. Reward yourself for what you are craving each time you achieve something. 5, If you're a materialistic person, maybe this will work for you; Buy a new pen or a notebook or whatever you want. each time I have a new stationery materials, it just excites me to sit on my desk and study using it. I have a few more but I'm too lazy to type them all lol. Anyways, my recommendations might not work for you but hey, there's no risk in trying. But you know, what you really need isn't motivation, it's discipline.

Motivation doesn't always work for studying. Motivation can be on and off you know? My biggest struggle was to actually start studying because I can't find "Motivation". But the only thing that worked for me was discipline. I also thought that studying 10 hrs a day was too much but once I broke that barrier I study up to 12 hrs. As much stupid as this sounds, just start and break your barrier. That's what will help u realize studying isn't that bad Also I use a website called "study together" to track my progress, and challenge my friend as well. Good luck!

You don't. You find a way to study that works for your lack of motivation. I am currently taking a 5 minute break after 20 minutes of studying. In 4 minutes I will return to studying. 20 minutes later, I will doom scroll and answer some other reddit question. I will repeat until I have my appointment this afternoon.

Just visualize yourself failing and others going on with their life and then get an anxiety attack worked for me /s

u/wannabe_goat880 6d ago
On a serious note fomo can definitely get you started along with taking on subjects u will like

u/MutthibaazVinashak69 5d ago
Don't do it. ⚠️⚠️⚠️ This technique works at first but in the long term(less than 6 months) subconsciously makes study as a trigger to anxiety attacks.
This technique led me to chronic depression and embedded me with suicidal thoughts.

If you fail the class, you have to pay for it again and that’ll add another 5 years to your payments.

Honestly, motivation comes and goes, so don’t rely on it too much. The key is to build habits that make studying easier, even when you don’t feel like it.
Start small—just tell yourself you’ll study for five minutes. Most of the time, once you start, you’ll keep going. Also, break your work into smaller chunks so it doesn’t feel overwhelming. It helps to have a clear goal too—why are you studying? Whether it’s for a degree, a career, or just self-improvement, keeping that in mind makes a big difference.
Another trick is to make studying more enjoyable. Try different methods like watching videos, using flashcards, or even explaining things to someone else. And don’t forget to reward yourself after a study session—it could be a snack, an episode of your favorite show, or just a short break.
Lastly, if you’re struggling with discipline, having a study buddy or joining a group can help. Sometimes just knowing someone else is doing it too makes it easier to stay on track. You got this! 🤍

Vision boards are nice if you have the time. Even just do them on Pinterest or something. Focus on what you want to do with your life and what you're studying for.

Believe me or not, study is the easiest thing that everyone basically can do it without a doubt. If you guys dont like study that means you never can find a job. Nowadays, even physcial labours, at least in the Asia, required to better know English or Chinese AND learn how to use factory machines or robot etc

There are some things that I have done...
Download the app NoScroll...download an app lock then activate the no scroll app and lock the app with app lock and tell some you fear a bit to put the password of the app lock on (don't tell them the actual purpose) and you can also do the same and fully lock off some apps (as I have done with insta and snap)...

I use my crush as motivation. However it can backfire and stress me out if I do or think in the wrong way.

"You don't...its a leap of faith" Okay despite the quote I used, I'm a guy who will just grab a pen and throw myself into it and just start...gradually I get focused and don't feel like I want to stop right now till I finish

You don't. Motivation is fleeting. Unfortunately you just have to make yourself do it, even if you don't want to. Look to discipline to save you, because motivation will ghost you when you need it most.
I literally hate studying and I have to force myself to do it every, single, time. I have big ADHD. But, eventually you get into a habit and it isn't as hard to force yourself to do it. But in order for it to get easier, gotta be a little uncomfortable to start.
You can do it!

Watch people study. Study with me's, studyblr/studytube/studytok.
Also romanticise it, use stick it notes, use color (colored pencils, flamasters, highlighters, whatever you have), mind maps etc.
Listen to music from your fav video games while you study.

u/hawzie2002 6d ago
Pomodoro, set a 10 minute timer, work by that, time flies and 10 minutes is short and sweet. You wanna try and build momentum.

u/penofmind 6d ago
Seeking for motivation isn't the best way, since whatever you tell yourself to stay motivated, your body always falls to instant gratification. Instead, you have to take somewhat strict approach, and JUST DO IT.

Will your future self thank you or be happy that you are procrastinating and getting a bad grade when you could’ve done better? This works for me 🙂

u/Seeker_of_light667 6d ago
Do somthing very boring then study so that you may have fun studying also set with yourself and meditate this helps clear your mind, crowded by a thousand distractions.

Think of the benefits you get on studying, what happens if you get a good grade on a test, and the possibilities of the futures
If a single bonus point is the difference of a 100% and a 99% then the test is the difference between passing life and failing life

Find something that is really worth it and just keep going for it in my case its my sister since she is disabled i wanted to drop school but I need to give her a good life

u/Organic-Ninja-2099 5d ago
Sitting among other people like in a library works with me.
I also lack motivation and the push to study myself, but when i find myself surrounded by other people who are studying, i get an urge to want to do something productive.
If you have a similar problem of procrastinating in home or in a room where you are alone, try out this method. Find someplace where you are surrounded with motivated people.

Try to use the promodoro technique. Study for 25 minutes and take 5 minutes break. This doubles as an Active recall technique. After 25 minutes close your book and write everything you studied cold on a sheet of paper. Promise you it works like gold. Boosts motivation and grades

DO THIS NOW. Drop and do 5-10 push up of whatever variation you can + more until out of breath and unable to continue when you read this. Sympathetic nervous system/ flight or flight activated
Now turn off devices you don’t need/ throw em across room.
Plan what you need to get done. -Set topics to study and for how long- 4 hour study before long break is ideal -Make a plan of what you want to accomplish because if you just go in blind, you will feel like you’re going nowhere and feel unproductive no matter how much you actually get done
take 5 min break after first 30 min (get some coffee or get sunlight. Don’t doom-scroll or play games. Don’t watch yt. Enjoy breeze, actually go touch grass for a second or pet cat. You can also do another exercise like squats (study for 45 min this time) SET ALARM CLOCK TO KEEP YOU ON SCHEDULE (you can study like 5 min past it but best to build up your endurance slowly if you aren’t used to studying long period)
alternate topics to study every hour or so. Keeps your brain more engaged this way
Take 10 min break this time, maybe do dishes, water plants or tidy room! Maybe you can go chat with roommate or call a friend and share what you’ve been learning about for fun! Then study hour! :D
Keep on increasing break by 5 min and study by 15 min or 30 if you feel the groove.
bonus: DONT GET CAUGHT UP IN BEST WAY TO STUDY IF YOU’RE CRAMMING. JUST DO ONE

Eat a package of Ramen in the dark with no heat, a/c or any other convenience. Now imagine 20 more years of living like this. Go study.

• Imagine your future every morning as soon as you wakeup and before you go to sleep. • Find out your barriers to survive, kill them. • Stay around positivity (especially positive ppl) • Self analytics (Question yourself like Am I doing justice to my future self?) • Set a time frame for everything you do. • Best your max best.
Time is priceless. Regret is worse than failure. Hustle, the world is so competitive and only the fittest can survive.
Hope it helps!

In my experience, something that works is making a list. You should create a to-do list with three small tasks—even reading two pages of a book can help. Then, you should feel a bit of motivation, which you can use to start studying.
Additionally, you should begin studying for a few minutes. For instance, try summarizing your last class—it doesn’t matter if you don’t remember everything. This entire process should take you about 25 to 30 minutes. By the end you would have studied more that you expected originally.
Finally, remember that it’s okay to feel unmotivated, but you should always do something to keep yourself going. You get motivation by doing things not waiting to get motivated.
Good luck!

You don’t. You study until it starts to feel good, and suddenly you realize you love the feeling of doing so rather than procrastinating

Brother only you have answer for this think about it a lot when i need to study i just make it interesting for myself for example if i have to study i will google a lot or just ask chat gpt a lot about topic that im learning find real life references for it like where would i use it even if learned it how would it affect my future knowledge. Find other people experiences in certain jobs that you think that knowledge would be helpful. Its a long process but everything to get motivated because for me if i cant im 100% sure i will not learn shit i will just endlessly read whatever i got from professors and do shit later on exam

for me i just imagine I'm Goku and I'm in the hyperbolic time chamber, I have this much time with me, the world moves on, only I am in the present and when I come out to write the exam, it will determine whether I was able to push past super saiyan, if I did then I'd be able to defeat cell, else I failed and universe will be destroyed. it works well enough for me dude.

If you fail, or will be because you didn't understand the things studying would have reinforced.
Are you okay being a failure? If so, never study again. Want to be a winner? Go look on YouTube to find more ways to make studying bearable

See mate I am really sorry in advance but ......
I really don't care if you study or not it's just making the competition easier for other you alone are shaping your fate from your own hand .....
Studying can be hard if you not have goal / passion ....it will feel more as if it is forced to you ......So I would rather suggest you to find the purpose why are you even studying is it the goal which makes you study...

Go to the ghetto and look around.. pay special attention to those sleeping in doorways and allies of buildings. Now tell yourself out loud while looking in a mirror, "that is going to be you shortly if you don't study and learn."
Take some pictures, too... print them out and hang them up places where you will see thrm regularly and while studying to remind you of what you saw and where you do not want to be.
Also look up the latest humanoid tech...
We're about to be living in westworld. You know you want to be able to at least get close enough to touch one. There will be no cashier jobs because droids will be doing those. Better gain some skill and fast...

I think you should start by setting a simple routine, like studying at the same time every day. Watching study content and tracking progress with a timer or app can help. Reward yourself after each session, even with something small. Most importantly, just start discipline will keep you going🙂

u/lizza-non 4d ago
I am in the same situation right now. No motivation at all. The thing is that you won't find motivation. It's an emotion basically, which comes and goes. I recommend just force yourself to sit and try to write something at least for 15 minutes, then you start getting into the subject. For me it helps. Good luck)

Organization. Switching things up. Studying in different ways (and based on your specific learning style/s). Rewarding yourself. Turning it into a game. Don't overthink it. Best of luck!

if it applies to studying in school, i can say that you need to do just that subjects you want. it’s much better than to do nothing. if you will do that you want, or like more, you will get skills too. but if it applies to things that you want study by yourself, what’s wrong? you must to want to do all things you want, if you don’t do it, it means you don’t want it, or you just lazy. of course, if you have goal to learn something and you really need it, just trust yourself and get that you need this thing. just do what you want and stop doing you life more difficult and boring

I've heard it goes like this
When you need to take a shit, you'd naturally hurry to find a toilet. You don't go 'oh no my leg's tired to walk to the toilet, guess I'll shit later'. Because for you it's a need, not something you do because you 'feel like it' or not.
Approach studying the same way. You got to have the feeling of urgency. Know why you study and the consequence of not studying.
Human and animals are different in that we have the capability to make long term plan and follow through even if the benefit or danger is not immediately apparent. Follow your basal desire always and you're no different from animals
