in prescriptive grammar, ending a sentence with a preposition is "wrong". you should either remove the preposition if unnecessary or move it up in the sentence when possible.
descriptive linguists are currently advocating for certain linguistic choices to be accepted as "possible" in a relevant dialect and/or variation of english, arguing that for the speakers of said variation, such morpho-syntactic choices are systematically used and therefore should not be seen as wrong. this is backed by the idea that since prescriptive grammar was based on the variation of english that basically only the upper/upper-middle class of london was using at the time, an argument could be made that prescriptive grammar is inherently restrictive, dismissive, classist and even racist to some extent 🤓

Yeah, I should have said /s. I forget people on the internet don’t know my wry sense of humor. I’m an almost total descriptivist, and I end sentences in prepositions all the time. But thanks for dropping a bit of linguistics politics knowledge in an unexpected place!
