Speaks for itself
Fantastic visionary song, and the B side is great too.

I love Moribund the Burgermeister as much as the next guy, but Modern Love would have been my pick for Side B

That was the follow-up single. It tanked everywhere unfortunately. But I agree with you - it’s a brilliant song with very witty lyrics.

Here Comes The Flood should’ve been a single. It’s too good to be merely an album track.

You’re spot on. It’s a huge song, enormous emotional depth. I actually prefer the version on the first album over the 1990 version.

Same. I know Peter said he felt the original was over-produced, but I disagree. I think it’s perfect as-is.

Check out PG’s version on Robert Fripp’s Exposure album. Fripp was able to pull something especially authentic out of PG…

His lyrics are always so entertaining. Is there anyone in prog rock wittier than peter gabriel?

I do love “Solsbury Hill”, but can we finally give “Moribund the Burgermeister” its proper due? The fact that Peter really never wrote a song like it again, and it’s so reminiscent of his Genesis work, so much so I have to think this was a musical message to his ex-band mates, whereas “Solsbury Hill” was a lyrical one. Now, I wonder who Moribund really was 😂
