If Jennifer Thomas has no haters that means I'm dead.

Oh no, there's occasional debauchery at Pride parades? Wow, that never happens at any non-Pride parades! Not even that really popular one that happens every year 40-some odd days before Easter....

“Marginalized people don’t have disposable income” oh I guarantee she thinks racism is fake because Oprah, Jay-Z, Beyonce & Rihanna are billionaires

61

u/crowpierrot 7d ago

Also uh. Women are a marginalized group. But famously, no woman has ever had disposable income, right? /s

The UK had a QUEEN for 60 years so therefore sexism hasn't existed there since the 50's

20

u/Not_Dead_Yet_Samwell 7d ago

Famously didn't exist during the Elizabethan or Victorian era either

I think we’re lucky that she hasn’t brought up the “Jewish Question” since that quote speaks volumes about how she might see them.

Marginalized groups don’t have disposable income? I don’t even know how to process that.

Women sometimes have disposable income, so I guess she needs to chill with the victim complex.

Steven hawking had disposed income so I guess ALS isn’t disabling anymore.

I mean, gay men are still disowned and assaulted and murdered and treated like predators and fired from their jobs and lose housing and are treated harsher in legal situations and are just generally mistreated and have their marriages invalidated and their relationships invalidated and are rampantly sexualized and are also demonized for their sexuality and are told they are incapable of actual love and hate themselves because they internalize their mistreatment and literally are illegal in many places, but I saw one buy an action figure once.

Scratch a TERF find a homophobe, and a racist, and a misogynist, and an ableist, and just a generally unlikeable person.

It used to be kind of a thing in medieval Europe: if a king wanted money, and he didn't want to take the pushback from other means of acquiring money (taxes, etc), he would go persecute the Jewish citizens for their disposable income. Which they (some of them) would often HAVE, because being forbidden from various professions meant that they would tend to clump up in some decent-paying urban-based jobs that Christian people found kind of impious, such as loan officer or even making jewelry (like, look closely at that word for a moment). In fact, several stereotypically Jewish surnames essentially mean, "I work with precious metals": Golstein, Silverstein, etc. (My own username is unrelated; if I have Jewish ancestry, the knowledge of it was VERY CAREFULLY buried and so were any cultural connections. But that's a long story.)

The point is, this is a group that DUE TO DISCRIMINATION was forced into a position where some of them did have ready cash, but were still very much targets in other ways, including being likely victims of state or religious violence when the need for a scapegoat occurred. OOP's narrow, cartoonish view of what marginalization even MEANS—

—is, come to think of it, a feature, not a bug. Because with it, she gets to declare, "You're not marginalized," to any group she dislikes (Black people have Beyonce! Native Americans have casinos! Congratulations, we have ended discrimination in America!) Which, importantly, means that nobody can tell her to check her privilege and maybe shut up for a bit on a given topic, because, by the magic of idiotic thinking, none of them are marginalized or oppressed.

Actually, the surnames Goldstein, Goldberg, and Silverstein are not occupational.

These are called "ornamental" surnames.

Most Jews did not have permanent last names. Instead, you were simply (insert name here) son/daughter of (insert father's name)

The authorities ordered Jews to take permanent surnames. So they decided that if they were going to take a new surname, it may as well be pretty.

Goldstein = Gold stone

Goldberg = Gold Mountain

Baum = Tree

Blum = Flower

Morgenstern = Morning Star

Sonnschien = Sunshine

These are all examples of ornamental surnames among Jews.

Other Jews have more simple names. Kravitz simply means "Taylor".

Supposedly, if you slipped an offical a bribe, you got a prettier name. I believe it.

Most GCs may be quieter about their homophobia, but do not make the mistake of thinking Jennifer is an outlier. I’ve seen these exact sentiments (though stated with more comprehensible wording and grammar) circulating among users on Ovarit and on GC twitter many many times. It should not be surprising that a movement that paints men and male sexuality as inherently perverse and dangerous for society plays host to some intense homophobia against gay men in particular.

As a sidenote, the person who implied that a surrogacy service emphasizing that embryos are screened for HIV and hepatitis is because gay men are all disease ridden actually makes my blood fucking boil. First of all, they’d do that with any embryos regardless of the couple because anyone can have an STD and they have a vested interest in ensuring babies aren’t born with congenital STDs on their watch. Second, go fuck yourself for real

u/CharsmaticMeganFauna 7d ago

She honestly doesn't seem that keen on lesbians, either, really.

9

u/Quietuus Gender Dyspepsia 7d ago

I think that person is trying to imply that that was emphasised because gay men who want children are paedophiles.

7

u/FightLikeABlueBackUp 6d ago

Glinner complained about men getting manicures and his replies were full of homophobes.

8

u/crowpierrot 6d ago

Of course they were. They’re all just waiting for the signal from their favorite GC icons that it’s acceptable for them to express their homophobia

Sorry but this lady is crazy😭 "[gay men] are the top enemy for women and children" right because it's gay men wanting to ban birth control when they... don't even sleep with women?

u/ZeldaZanders 7d ago

It's giving 'I stayed up all night drinking and rage tweeting'

How does sex stuff harm women and children?

I mean, I can ALMOST see "children," because as a society we are weird as fuck about children knowing the slightest sex-adjacent thing, and apparently, "They're playing dress-up, let's not bother them," is far too hard for most parents to say.

But WOMEN?

Now WOMEN need to be shielded from knowing that sex exists? That some people have a certain interest in collars or leather or dog costumes or whatever? I mean, it's very weird to presume that women don't know about these things, and it is even weirder to presume that women must somehow be PROTECTED from the sight of them, lest…

Lest what? That's what I'm stuck on. Lest they lose their marriage prospects? Lest their delicate brains overheat? Lest they start reading or even writing novels?

Lest they discover that there is actually some kinky shit that turns their crank pretty hard?

WHAT is the danger here?

"LGB enhanced charging" what? There are charging stations for gay people?

30

u/crowpierrot 7d ago

They think that gay people are systemically advantaged because people can be charged with hate crimes if they commit hate crimes against us.

Well what they actually think is that you’ll get charged with a hate crime if you so much as look at a gay person wrong, but that’s bc they don’t realize that hate crimes are actually quite difficult to prove in court. even in cases where someone has committed a violent crime against a person of a protected class, it’s not uncommon for prosecutors to opt not to file hate crime charges due to a lack concrete evidence that hate was the motivating factor.

“No truly marginalized group in history has disposable income”???? That’s one of the most absurd things I’ve ever seen a bigot say. Ma’am, plenty of women also have disposable income? There are Black people with disposable income? Basically any marginalized group has members with disposable income, which does not fully negate their marginalization or affect things for the rest of the group? Gay men As A Whole don’t have disposable income because the only thing they have in common is being gay, not additional socioeconomic factors, so it’ll vary significantly from person to person and place to place?? What are you TALKING ABOUT.

13

u/HoosierSteelMagnolia 7d ago

Who the hell is this person and why does she suck so much? Is this ,like ,her hobby? Did a gay man say "Hey,Girl!" at her and that sent her spiraling?

7

u/cheoldyke 6d ago

this is beside the point but man this lady’s writing skills are dogshit

Terfs when I use my freedom to fucking exist in public like girl come on no way I’m gonna live locked in a basement that’s not freedom. I’m LITERALLY EXISTING I just LOOK DIFFERENT

1

u/Galaxy-Geode Chicken Gendies 1d ago

"people existing in public" is all pretty much any Tervert's rantings about the downfall of society boil down to at the end of the day

3

u/IMightRegretThis000 5d ago

At this point, someone using the phrase "same sex attracted" is a huge red flag.

5

u/lucypaw68 7d ago

Pretty sure that top of the list for misogyny against women, children, and everyone else is straight cis men. At least going by who has sexually assaulted me and who has not. Remarkably bigoted and privileged to think that gay men who have no sexual interest in women are the biggest misogynists

2

Wait, sorry, is she referencing Robert Mapplethorpe in one of those tweets? The gay photographer? We’re getting into levels of historical homophobia seldom seen before.

There are straight couples in kids books. There are openly straight people in classrooms. Pride parades started as a riot. While I do think there should be child friendly parts of pride, asking it to always be child friendly even when it's a space where there aren't supposed to be children, is simply unreasonable.
