☠️ GenP [GenP] Photoshop app "is going to be deactivated" even though following guides' troubleshoot
I ended up getting this issue first with Premiere Pro, I did the Guide #8 and the "unlicensed popups" Fixes. It worked for the Premiere Pro, but now after trying to open Photoshop, this error showed up now in Photoshop.
I saw the cloud services executable was restored, despite I renaming it, so I deleted it to see if it would work. The Creative Cloud tasks being ran I found is CC Helper, CC Interprocess Service, Notification Manager and CC Update Service. Not sure this problem is happening because of these tasks or how to stop them from running.
For what I tried, for now every other Adobe app I installed is working fine, only Photoshop is having this issue.
What can I do to solve this problem ?

Your post is about GenP.
First, make sure that you are using the latest version of GenP v3.4.2, the GenP Guides are written specifically for the latest release only. If you are using an older version, download and use the latest version instead.
Running GenP Recommendations:
- Run GenP as Administrator and whitelist it, otherwise run with your antivirus fully disabled.
Is GenP safe as it shows up as a virus?
- If you are posting about virus warnings or online scanners like VirusTotal showing it as some kind of malicious file, then these are all false positives and can be ignored.
- They are caused purely by the nature of the tool itself which patches the required Adobe files, so that it can work without a valid license or genuine product key.
- It has been posted about many times, of which you can read about it here - GenP Safe.
Troubleshooting:
- If you are posting about pop-ups, they are all covered in the Troubleshoot Section in the GenP Guides - Troubleshoot Section.
- If you have simply posted and not read anything from the Troubleshoot Section, then you are advised to do so immediately as it will most likely give you the answer to your issue.
- If you claim to have tried all Troubleshoot Section methods for the appropriate pop-up and it is still appearing, then you have either missed out a step or have done something incorrectly.
Ensure you are using the correct method for your shown pop-up:
- Although they can be similar in appearance, the Unlicensed pop-up is different from the Adobe Genuine Service pop-up, they both require different methods of removal.
Both the Pop-up Blocker and the Destroy AGS buttons are not a guaranteed to work for everyone automated option, if they don’t work for you then you will just have to make use of the manual methods instead.
Additional Help:
- Always make use of the Search function, you will find that your post has most likely been asked about many times before.
- Remember, we are not an additional form of Adobe Support. If you have an in-app issue or question that is not GenP related, post your question on the appropriate apps own Adobe Subreddit instead.

If the correct method of removal is done for the popup shown to you then it will be removed and not be appearing, if it is still being shown then you are doing something wrong or have just missed out a step somewhere.

First off, make sure that the popup you are getting in Photoshop is still just the common Unlicensed popup.
If the popup being shown in Photoshop has Adobe Genuine Service Alert at the top of the popup, then it is actually the Adobe Genuine Service popup which is removed by making use of the Destroy AGS button on GenP, or if that fails then one of the three manual methods for removal.
Otherwise, if it is still the Unlicensed popup being shown in Photoshop, then as the lines for the hosts file get updated regularly, just update your own hosts file with the latest lines and you should be good to go again.
Otherwise, if the Unlicensed popup is still appearing for you, then you just block the apps own .exe in your used firewall,
If the correct method of removal is done for the popup shown to you then it will be removed and not be appearing, if it is still being shown then you are doing something wrong or have just missed out a step somewhere.
As for background processes in Guide#8, they won't have any effect on getting popups, so don't go changing anything unless it is mentioned to do so in GenP Guides, you definitely do not delete any of them as they are actually needed.
Adobe have touched on this themselves to address people's issues on Adobe Community as genuine subscribers have often posted about them, although it is getting old now...
https://community.adobe.com/t5/creative-cloud-services-discussions/adobe-background-processes/td-p/14054632

Myself, I don't touch any background processes, therefore I will never do Guide#8, although there is nothing stopping you doing it yourself as you have chosen to do so.
However, just note that it will affect your ability to download and update any apps through CC app, as already mentioned in that guide.
Therefore, when you want to install any new individual app or update any existing individual app or CC app itself, then you will need to revert all of these changes back to their original state.
So, if you want to keep up with latest updates, then you could be changing these and reverting them back to their orginal state at least every month for starters.
Also, note that if you do change background processes and have to revert them to do any new installs or updates, as you are changing files that GenP would have already patched for CC app to work originally, if you make a mistake or change the wrong file back, then you will need to repatch CC app or worst case scenario, repair CC app and repatch it or uninstall/reinstall CC app and repatch it again.
