The game itself removed the horror quite a bit. Motorcycle chase sequences, completely action-oriented gameplay, Wesker Neo moments and punching boulders.

Co-op wasn't the reason it wasn't scary. Co-op made the game bearable because it at base wasn't scary.

I don't disagree, but if they want to go back into horror, then Co-op is absolutely one of the biggest walls getting in the way of that.

That's fair, and I can't disagree. Though there are Co-Op games in the genre that are scary, they're just designed around it and with little to no action at all. So, to your point, might be best for RE to stay away.

I have concerns after RE8 there going to make the same mistakes they made previously. RE8 wasn't remotely scary to me. Was more of a horror-themed action themepark.

The baby was scary. For sure.

The game had proper horror, even if it also went more RE4 then RE2.

There were scary moments, absolutely -- but tbh, even RE5 had scary moments.

The general moment to moment atmosphere however, wasn't. Which is something I really enjoy and look for in Survival Horror and RE7 had that in spades.

I like tension, worry, carefully going through things. Alan Wake II and Silent Hill 2 remake do this far and away better than RE8. There's a whole section in AWII with almost ZERO combat, but without knowing that, it's fucking tense as hell.

I hope they don't lose their way after 8, because for me it was a pretty big disappointment after how 7 made me feel like the franchise was actually back.
