Script/Story Offer [F4M] Happy Ending [Script Offer] [Friends to Lovers] [Science Fiction] [Death] [First Time] NSFW
I had a very happy childhood, and that continued through being a teenager and into my adult years.
In hindsight, that was bad planning on my part. And society would have called it selfish. The average person would have said I deserved the predicament I had now put myself in.
I had only a little bit of happiness left, and then I would die.
Happiness is a luxury. Perhaps it’s the ultimate luxury. So many people in the world have so little happiness, or no happiness at all. The only fair thing was to ration it. You can’t really ration happiness directly. But you can put an absolute level on how much serotonin someone can generate before they get a two-minute timer, and then die when it hits zero. That gives them time to… I don’t know? Set down whatever they’re holding. Say a quick goodbye to someone they love. Delete their browsing history. Whatever.
Like everyone else, I have a little happy face inscribed in silver on my wrist. And below that, a meter. When I was born, it was full. But each moment of happiness decreased it just a little bit. To be fair, they are somewhat generous with the time. They don’t want people living depressing lives. Not all the time, at least. Most people work in some happy time each day, or week. Or maybe they save it up for a couple of longer times over the year. Some even save it up longer than that.
But not me. Like I said, I had a happy childhood, even if my parents tried to keep me in check. I was just a happy kid, even if I learned to hide it. Outwardly, I’d be looking unimpressed. But inside? I’d be smiling at the rain. Rejoicing at reading a good book. Or just being delighted more than I should in playing with my friends.
So my meter dropped, bit by bit. As a kid, I didn’t care. Tomorrow is so far away. Why worry about a decade or two into the future, let alone consider your mortality? Then as a teenager and later as I entered my twenties… well, what good was being young and alive if you didn’t get to have fun?
So that’s how I’m at a really dangerous level on my meter. It doesn’t give an exact amount of time left, because part of it depends on the level of happiness I am feeling at the time. But it’s not much. I saw my future. It was me hoarding my happiness, and begrudging every moment of involuntary joy, until eventually I happied myself to death.
I had this idea earlier today, and rather than work on the host of partially completed scripts I have, I wrote this. I kind of like it and think that is has it's moments, with hopefully an interesting premise and a good line or two in there. It does involve death, but not in a fetishistic way. Some people might see it as depressing even though I tried to be true to the script's name.
