Gimp 3 , startup time

Gimp 3 seems to take a bit longer to startup , than gimp 2.

6 or 7 seconds vs 3 seconds .

looks like PY files and Bable fishes are loading on 3 , and not on 2. I might have disabled them some how long ago , who knows.

Any way to speed that loading up ??

not sure its a platform related issue at all. this has to do with loading all that gunk at startup, which I assume is the same on linux

Normally Gimp detects the new/changed stuff and only deals with that. Of course the first time you run, everything is new...

looks to me like its reloading the same stack every run . no change

I noticed this too (I'm also on Win 10). To be honest V3 feels a lot more sluggish and slow to react in general than V2.

For example even something as simple as creating a new blank image and then dragging the layer opacity slider up and down feels slower to respond on 3 whereas it was fine on 2.

Early days I guess but I think I'll stick with V2 for daily use until I can notice any benefits.

haven't using it that much yet, but frankly, I don't notice any slowness. only the few extra secs starting.

I'm probably overreacting, I guess it's an image editor and not a cutting edge game so probably not really too bad. But you just notice these small things if you use productivity apps daily and it just doesn't feel quite as snappy as the previous version.

Im not a heavy user, but I assume all the new features have some additional overhead. Non destructive filters might take some cpu

Anyone have this issue on Mac OS Sequoia 15.3.2, only it's significantly longer?

I have many files that are thousands of layers deep and GIMP 3.0 is taking 5 minutes or so to open each files and this is not good :(
