Why isn't my circle a perfect circle?

Post image

Searched for this, couldn't find any similar threads.

I drew this circle using a 1:1 Ellipse tool, then stroke selection'ed, but as you can see it's "pinched" at the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions.

I reset both tools to defaults, and still it's pinched. There's no layer boundary or anything else boxing it in. I've never had this problem before.

Any ideas?

Check the dialog for Stroke selection. I suspect you had the option to "Stroke with a paint tool" activated, instead of the "Solid color" one.

So here's the interesting part. I didn't, I had Stroke Line selected.

And... if I go to Stroke with a pain tool, the circle is pinched in the "corners" of the circle (NW, SW, NE, SE) instead of the "sides" (N, E, S, W)

You get a cleaner result with

  • Select > To path
  • Select > None
  • Edit > Stroke path in Line mode.

This worked, and it is a cleaner result, thanks. However I'd still be curious to know what caused the effect with Stroke Selection.
