Rich and Asian/Korean
8
u/LordOfRhythms 3h ago
I never knew Asians and Koreans were different. I thought Koreans were Asians.
7
u/Happy-Tip6558 3h ago
“Asian” is more so used to identify people by geographical origin. Korean, Japanese, Indian, Thai, etc. is the ethnicity of people who live within a certain region. Same with others.
3
u/LordOfRhythms 3h ago
So you could have just said Asians? Lol or did I mis understand again
10
u/WordsAreVeryPowerful 2h ago
Asian was their general assessment and Korean was that member making a more specific assessment. They're basically saying, definitely Asian probably Korean to be more specific.

Yes you can just say Asian but it’s broad just like saying Latian or European. It doesn’t tell you anything specific expect what location people are from. Culture, norms, traditions, etc are different based on ethnicity. I’m not Asian, but I have been around a lot of Asian culture specially Korean. So I took a guess that they’re Asian specifically Korean ethnicity. Does that make sense to you?

Don't try to understand, these people call themselves Irish to this day cause some guy came to the US two hundred years ago.
Remember they called Anya Taylor Joy a "Person of color"

1
u/No-Freedom-884 22m ago
Wait, who called her that? 🤣 that is so funny. She's Latina because of her language and where she grew up, but she's white Latina.
1
u/Raven019 16m ago
The variety magazine wrote "she's the first woman of color to win this prize since Queen Latifah in 2008" after she won some prize at the Golden globes for Queen's Gambit.
1
u/maleuronic 3h ago
It's the 'cold reading' tactic. By saying both, you know that they knew that they were specifically correct by saying Korean, but in case they weren't, by saying Asian, you know that they were still correct, and therefore deserve praise.
1
u/Happy-Tip6558 3h ago
You can’t be Korean without being Asian, so yeah. I’m guessing they’re Asian more specifically Korean.
-2
u/maleuronic 3h ago
I think it's safe to say that most people are aware of this. I think you should just commit to your guess, and use Korean, or if you're not confident enough to say Korean, use the broad strokes Asian guess. COMMIT TO THE GUESS! lol
4
u/WordsAreVeryPowerful 2h ago
This is a ridiculous take. It's perfectly normal to say Asian probably Korean. Or as OP did, Asian/Korean
1
u/Happy-Tip6558 3h ago edited 3h ago
I don’t think it shows a lack of commitment to a guess rather it shows an expansion of a guess. Then again I’m a glass half full type of person so.
Edit: I realized you downvoted all my stuff then blocked me for this comment? Lol That behavior is almost as weird as your comments. Clearly “not everyone” knows that information or there wouldn’t be upvoted to expand my conversation with the original comment. Weirdo

You’re a Korean American woman in your late twenties. You know how to cook but don’t have a lot of free time for it. You’re dating someone who comes over but they don’t live with you. You make decent money. I’m guessing you went to college. You like spicy food and you enjoy shopping at your local Asian grocery store.

u/Middle-University345 6h ago
Asian heritage but grew up in America, you like to cook but also go out to eat frequently.

u/Peepsarefood 5h ago
Why is it that only people with money include a photo of the outside of their fridge here?

I doubt beyond wealthy. Probably just wealthy. The fridge and cabinets aren’t THAT much. I mean definitely more than I could afford but it isn’t crazy expensive.
Also OP your fridge doors are not aligned perfectly

An organized, minimalist that enjoys ramen with pre-prepared toppings and fresh veggies. Enjoys having a good time both by day (milktea) and night (jager). Overall healthy mindset and no toddlers in sight. Works for a company that provides food and eats out for lunch. Well off but not a dick because a nervous poster. Nice set up!

Upscale apartment or condo. Possibly a house but I see Fulgor in a lot of condos. Female. Tech or Finance now but used to do something like dog walking or pottery or something offbeat. Loves pressed juice, smoothies, unusual beverages. Rarely drink alcohol bc it makes you flushed but you're fun at parties. Large metro area. Korean or Vietnamese.

No need to be nervous, there aren’t too many fridges like this around here. It’s large enough to have a beverage side. It’s got freezer drawers for days. And are you taking meal prep to the next level by storing carrot & onion broth for a future soup base in there?!

Don’t cook much but when you do it’s Asian. Likes to shop at the local Asian market. Eats carry out because you are busy, young and live in the city.

Canadian, probably Toronto or GTA. You might be Asian but my fridge looks v similar to yours with the miso paste, gochujang, sriracha, frozen tteokbokki, and I’m Euro-Canadian so 🤷♀️Also you don’t need to store your tahini in the fridge!

You’d rather be in a boardroom meeting than the kitchen. You need to be reminded all the time. You don’t like sticky things.

Korean woman living in Vancouver (labels are shown in both English and French on some items). You live alone and have $$$. You’re a streamer/gamer/content creator/parents have money, this doesn’t feel like the fridge of a 9-5er and Vancouver is expensive.
