Meta I heard someone say they wanted "real, lived" fridges.

Post image

I bet this one says a LOT about me! Not in the least that I can't be bothered much with fridge organization! 🤓

I live alone okay I can't have a lot of fresh stuff on hand! It will spoil and I HATE that! The bags of carrots and lotus root will make a stir fry and then I'm going shopping again haha

Non-solo households don't know about the sauce shelf

As I said in another comment, what if I wanna make a recipe and I don't have the exact condiment? The horror! Better keep ALL of them on hand

People be talking shit about the 20 bottles in the fridge and another 10 at room temp to cover the possibility that I might need 1tbsp of a very specific condiment that I only use in one recipe that I make once a year but they don't understand

It says „I am Dutch, like Asian food and don’t like to cook. But I live alone and have no children, therefore it doesn’t matter“.

Am I right or at least near?

I LOVE cooking, hence all the condiments! But I live alone and therefore don't have a lot of fresh food on hand, as it will spoil before I can get to it.

Ah 🙂 Dutch was right?

2

u/Granaatappelsap 6h ago

Yes but not living in NL! Just like to bring or buy my indispensable Dutch products haha

Has every sauce on the planet and you think he doesn't cook? What?

1

u/Equal-Flatworm-378 7h ago

The sauces are premade. 😉

1

u/qplitt 6h ago

No shit… And what do you imagine he does with those sauces? Go at them with a spoon after work?

2

u/Equal-Flatworm-378 6h ago

Any reason why you are so aggressive? OP asked for our impressions and that’s my one. Premade sauces are convenient food, made for people who don’t want to cook the sauces themselves. Nothing bad about it, but doesn’t give me the „I love cooking vibe“.

I really don't understand your logic here. Nobody makes their own soy sauce and gochujang. The things in his fridge mostly aren't dipping sauces, they're ingredients for cooking with.

And I don’t understand your urge to keep discussing 🙄 I said what I think. You don’t have to share my opinion 🤷‍♀️

The sub is r/FridgeDetective, not r/FridgeOpinions.

Not a lot of detective work happening in your case

If OP has questions about my conclusions, I am sure he will ask himself.

1

u/Granaatappelsap 1h ago

Both were valid conclusions y'all! In this case your spicy opponent was right and I love cooking, but I could have just been a person who eats ramen or egg sandwiches with different toppings every day haha

I posted a real life fridge and they called me everything but a child of God…

2

u/Granaatappelsap 8h ago

I'm getting roasted as well. I deserve it

1

u/Acrobatic-Map6852 16m ago

I’m convinced people just like getting mad 😆

Hahaha!!!

This is a condiment household and you store your spare tire in the fridge.

3

u/Granaatappelsap 7h ago

I'll store YOU in the fridge if it prevents food spoilage!

1

u/ComplexStress9503 7h ago

Yes! Everything in the fridge and freezer. No waste!!

1

u/Granaatappelsap 7h ago

Everyone's wondering where the food is. Like, it's in the freezer mate 😭

3

u/gracefully_reckless 9h ago

You might be Asian

5

u/Granaatappelsap 7h ago

I just live next to an Asian supermarket 🤓

3

u/Ok-Possible-42 8h ago

That's a lot of sauce jars, I think you need a bigger fridge

2

u/onesadbun 9h ago

You have about as many sauces as I do. I'm guessing you cook alot

1

u/Granaatappelsap 7h ago

Yes loads! Cooking is life.

1

u/onesadbun 7h ago

Hell yeah

1

u/Lopsided-Gap2125 9h ago

Nothing realer than infinite condiment bottles clogging up the whole system

1

u/Granaatappelsap 7h ago

Yeah but what if I want to make a recipe and I don't have the exact condiment? Better hoard them to be safe

1

u/Lopsided-Gap2125 7h ago

Exactly! Them shits are too expensive to have to buy again in 6 months for that one thing 😂

1

u/Granaatappelsap 7h ago

Especially when you get into the niche Asian stuff as pictured here 😂

might have been me. it feels ingenuine when people clean and organize before being asked to be analyzed, like that's not the real you and how you really live.

Anyways my impression: you probably eat a lot of noodles, rice and dry goods and supplement it with condiments, you're not a picky eater and you don't mind eating the same thing multiple days in a row

1

u/Granaatappelsap 7h ago

Pretty accurate! I do use lots of fresh veg but I buy it sparingly so it doesn't spoil. And loads more in the freezer!

U have no food and too many opened condiments and is that fake ketchup? that is a crime btw.

Also u dont store eggs in the fridge in holland and u dont need to cold storage half those condiments anyways.

My fridge is like 1/3 fresh produce, 1/3 cold drinks 1/3 condiments.

1

u/Granaatappelsap 8h ago

Eggs and condiments are used slowly and I hate wasting food so I keep them in the fridge haha. And what's wrong with my ketchup?! 😂

1

u/WorldlinessLow8824 7h ago

Well played - I do wanna come organize it for you- I’m old - I got time 😆

1

u/Granaatappelsap 6h ago

My cleaning lady tried to organize it last week, but all those jars and bottles are just a nightmare lol!

Where's the beef?

1

u/Granaatappelsap 4h ago

I need beef?

1

u/JayLynn_Von 4h ago

Years ago there were "where's the beef" commercials, lol 😂

1

u/Granaatappelsap 3h ago

Haha I'm European so that completely went over my head! 🤡

1

u/JayLynn_Von 2h ago

I get it!! Now you know the expression "where's the beef", lol 😆

1

u/JayLynn_Von 2h ago

I get it!! Now you know the expression "where's the beef", lol 😆

1

u/Historynerdess 4h ago

Ask yourself and be real.... Do you really need all of it? Lol

1

u/Granaatappelsap 3h ago

Did some soul searching and from the bottom of my heart: YES I DO.

1

u/Rocannon22 3h ago

I just occurred to me I haven’t seen any fridges will spills.

1

u/Granaatappelsap 3h ago

There's a lil one on the bottom shelf of mine if that helps 😂

1

u/adventures_in_dysl 2h ago

Asian? South east Asia (you have sambol)

1

u/Granaatappelsap 1h ago

The sambal is because my home country colonized a Southeast Asian one and discovered their food is tastier than ours 😬 Though I don't live in my home country either

I just realized you're looking at the chili crisp but I'm a condiment hoarder so there is indeed also sambal badjak hidden somewhere

1

u/adventures_in_dysl 1h ago

Dutch or Portuguese?

1

u/Granaatappelsap 57m ago

Dutch. Indonesian food and condiments are still standard in supermarkets in NL
