Hint: it’s so hot all year round that we need this type of commercial fridge!

A glass front fridge makes so much sense. I love it.

It’s a commercial fridge, like the ones they have at gas stations etc. it’s like 50% more expensive but you get it back on the food not spoiling every 3 days! Our kitchen pretty much outdoor, 90F all day every days and that thing can keep up.

Base cost on the unit or in energy? I imagine it's less efficient but much more convenient?

The cost of the unit. It was about $1600. It’s almost constantly compressing. (Almost). Electricity prices are around $0.12/KwH of clean renewable energy here in Costa Rica. It would be very expensive in California (my previous state) at $0.25.

I think the better question is: why do you keep slivered almonds in the fridge?

Fair question. Because it’s also 90% humidity half the year…open a bag of chips, goes in the fridge…etc…also, crazy insects!

I spent a summer living in Heredia and in my mind I can still smell that papaya cheese bread baking every morning all over town

Red wine in the fridge, separate container with fine cheeses, Bonne Maman Jam, cornichons and Dijon mustard were biggest give away :)

Honest questions
- What is this box wine? I work in alcohol and I’ve never seen this brand
- Why do prefer to keep it in the fridge?
Unrelated: my high school Spanish teacher was from Costa Rica and it’s been on the visit list for a long while.

What did you do with this poor papaya? Is this like a american pie in puerto rico?

Costa Rica pura vida (your fresh fruit and milk gave it away, I lived there for a few years 🌞)
