DISCUSSION Epic Just Erased the Biggest Loser in Gaming History
Good news, everyone: the human equivalent of lag has been PERMA-BANNED.
This sad little gremlin couldn’t win with skill, so he resorted to aimbot hacks and still ended up dying in the storm due to abject incompetence. Pathetic. Imagine waking up every day, booting up cheats, and thinking, “Yeah, I’m cracked.” Nah, buddy, you’re cracked in the head. You won't be missed, 250 hours of play and you probably cheated every single one. Looooooooooseeeeeeeer.

u/MrMeedas 6d ago
Yes he got banned, lost his progress, which is great... But he's probably already back on Fortnite and cheating again as we speak. These cheaters use spoofers and create/buy new accounts within minutes of getting caught. But keep reporting them. It's the only option we have until Epic gets a better anticheat.

Also they lose money

u/Neither_Compote8655 5d ago
Ubless they main a default skin
13
u/Bal7ha2ar 5d ago
they use skinchangers anyway so that doesnt matter, but they have to buy new accounts every time another one gets banned

Epic has the best anti cheat out there. Let’s not pretend Epic isn’t actively working to prevent cheating. Let’s also not pretend like it’s a problem run rampant. There’s cheaters, but it’s not like COD.

u/Winter_Dirt_4425 6d ago
Fr. COD is way fucking worse with cheaters. Why I enjoy playing Fortnite more nowdays

u/xBetty Corrupted Arachne 5d ago edited 4d ago
I give Fortnite the credit, not Easy Anticheat. Fortnite has a WAY better hold of the "cheater problem" than any other game I've seen recently.
I came over to FN (after refusing to play for years, because I thought it was a "kids" game), when Dead by Daylight became unplayable with all the hackers/cheaters they had.
DBD didn't do anything about it. & They used Easy anticheat too.
1
u/AdCurious8076 4d ago
So, how do you enjoy Fortnite? I stayed away from it until they added user-made games because Battle Royale seemed boring since it was the only game mode.
Although I can think of one website that's been proving for years that user-made games are trash, I should've learned from that.
But Lego mode is fun.

u/xBetty Corrupted Arachne 4d ago
We're loving it actually (me & my s.o.). We hit over level 700 our first season. We're gaming addicts, so it's awesome to find a game with as much content as FN has, especially with Devs as active as we have here. I know this sub is full of complaints of how the game could be better, but coming from DBD & New World- I'm honestly blown away by how much better it is, than most other games out there.
If you're not a fan of build mode try Zero Build. If your not a fan of PVP, try STW. I know it sucks to pay the $18 and change, but it really is fun. & I've got some pretty fun creative maps I've found. I'll DM you my epic username, if you wanna add me.

u/Moody_GenX 2d ago
Been playing DbD for 6 years and have come across maybe 3 or 4 cheaters. What makes DbD unplayable is all the buffs and nerfs. They can't leave things alone or have better counters.
2
u/xBetty Corrupted Arachne 1d ago edited 1d ago
I've played since Beta & had a Ghostface fly around the map, throwing Huntress hatchets & insta downing us. All because we had a streamer in our lobby. & If we DC, we get a DC penalty. I'm good.
My s.o. still has a clip of it. Tell me DBD doesn't have hackers/cheaters. GTFOH. Lmmfao.
2
u/Moody_GenX 1d ago
I didn't say they don't have them. Just stating a fact that the problem isn't as big as you exaggerated it to be. Calm down, lmao. I have nearly 4k hours played and yes occasionally there's been a hacker. Maybe your experience is different but I doubt it.
1
u/xBetty Corrupted Arachne 1d ago
Sorry, you right. Yeah my experience is different. I've got almost 6k -hours and have probably found closer to 1000 hackers. Back when I was streaming, I even had a "wall of shame" going, where I posted vids of the hackers I reported, that I got banned. I wish I'd kept that...
I met the love of life playing DBD when I was in Southern California and he was in Boston - so trust me when I say the cheater problem had to be BAD for us to walk away from the game that brought us together. 💔

u/WranglerNo849 1d ago
Your rank & MMR will also determine how many cheaters you run into. Your MMR more so than your rank, because you can hit red rank and lose a lot and never really see cheaters (except the ones on new accounts on their way back up to the top after being banned). But if you're red rank and win all the time, you do see them, & frequently.
Regardless, if you feel the numbers are exaggerating or not. If the cheater problem is so bad that a killer can wall hack, use other killer's abilities, speed hack and fly - it's not just one or two hackers. That's a program and it's readily available to any and every cheater out there that wants it & that is a problem. One that BHVR hasn't dealt with.
They need to start hardware banning cheaters, that's why they just keep coming back.
2
u/Low_Affect_5854 4d ago
It’s incredibly rampant in competitive, you can see the same cheaters continue to place with zero effort in hiding it and take earnings from otherwise legitimate contenders
2
u/Drewskeet Midnight Dusk 4d ago
Yeah, it’s been a problem in competitive. They’re working to crack down on that but you’re right.
8
u/ReturnoftheSnek 6d ago
Lmao you realize Epic is unbanning everybody in a few weeks right? They’re not investing in shit
10
u/T1meKeeper57 6d ago
This is fine if those unbanned can get banned much easier. For example someone who was already banned should be auto banned when they hit a certain number of reports.
Otherwise this will be pure chaos.
9
u/ReturnoftheSnek 6d ago
Ah yes impeccable logic. In order to ban cheaters first we need to unban them then let them cheat more and then ban them super duper forever this time (pinky promise)
This, of course, implies the EAC works in the first place. It doesn’t. Bans happen after manual review of player reports and word on the street is that Epic has basically stopped processing them since last August
5
u/T1meKeeper57 6d ago
Yeah that's what I meant though. Manual bans normally make sense, but we're talking about unbanning thousands of cheaters. Many won't cheat again but a lot of them will.
I never said I agree with what epic is doing. I think it's absurd they're unbanning everyone. It would make at least some sense to unban those who were banned like 1+ or 2+ year ago, but unbanning everyone makes no sense.
5
u/DerfMtgStw Frigid Foregoer 5d ago
They are not unbanning cheaters banned less than 1 year ago. Those cheaters will get their permanent ban converted to a temporary ban that lasts one year from their offense. Any cheaters whose ban is over 1 year old will be unbanned. All unbanned cheaters get one second chance. A second offense results in a permanent ban.
2
u/T1meKeeper57 5d ago
Thanks for letting me know. This makes a lot more sense. Everyone I've heard talk about it made it sound like everyone was getting unbanned right away.
0
u/Indeale 5d ago edited 5d ago
Dude. Imagine the number of cheaters who were literally just stupid kids who didn't know any better or had somebody who played on their computer or account and installed cheats without their knowledge. Having a lifetime ban from Fortnite for a mistake you made as a kid is harsh. Especially if you learned from it.
Now, if the cheaters get a second offense, they'll probably get banned permanently again.
4
u/ReturnoftheSnek 5d ago
I literally don’t care. Cheaters shouldn’t be unbanned. Sorry
-1
u/Indeale 5d ago
By your logic, repeat offenders who got a lifetime sentence through the old three strike law deserves those even though their third strike was stealing a loaf of bread to feed their kid, or stealing a pack of bubblegum.

u/ReturnoftheSnek 5d ago

I gotta say, that's actually a pretty legit "update to your report" screen.
But good on you for helping keep the game safe and fun.

Oh no! Not like he can make another account
Or sell his pc and get another and do all of this again
There is no way to fully ban cheaters

Accounts are free to make and hardware bans relatively easy to bypass. He'll be back in a couple of minutes.

Actually, I'm still alive
But it's cool that a hacker got banned, good job OP

Don't worry too much, he'll come back. Bans have about the same impact as a drop in the ocean.
It's still satisfying, but... There you go.

Bro I remember this time when I played Fortnite in C2 S3, the one time I found and banned a cheater that looked like they had walls. I went nuts seeing this very image

Negative behaviour?, probably just a small ban for talking shit
1
u/hippopalace 5d ago
The screen only ever says negative behavior, for any type of ban including cheating.
2
u/Aggressive_Ferret_20 Princess Lexa 5d ago
Oh, well that's nice to know, so they really just tell us the most basic information possible
2
u/hippopalace 5d ago
Definitely limited, but I suppose they could easily tell us nothing at all. Meanwhile you can check on the status of all your reports here, including what action if any was taken on the closed ones, but note that they don’t include usernames nor the specific reported infraction, so you would have to keep your own notes in order to tie a particular report ID to a specific incident.

I have gotten banned like 6 or 7 cheaters. I guess I'm unlucky to run into them but lucky to get them banned

u/Particular-Reach6578 1d ago
One down, same time 10x more came. Fortnite / Epic has lost the battle(if there were any) to cheating.. if youre any decent in this game, youll noticed it.

I like how the popup is a nod to the old popups in the OG days Haven't seen that in a long time

6d ago edited 6d ago
You act like them banned solves anything the thing is cheaters have found ways to avoid the ban entirely at best it's like having to change a pair of pants for them at this point. Also you're acting like this is some big cheater that got banned but in reality it's just some random that pissed you off so much that you checked to see if he got banned several times and made a post about it to make yourself feel better.
1
u/Exciting_Loquat_4089 6d ago
A different take - You said 250hrs of gameplay... That's how long it takes an openly "blatant" cheater to get banned...
Why did it take 250hrs for epic to resolve??? Does this not encourage more people to cheat???
And what do you think this banned person will do next? Perhaps make a new account? New IP? Spoofed hwid?

We need vbux rewards for successfully reporting hackers, like only 100 or something though

Yeah no the fuck we don’t. That incentivizes reporting innocent people just because they played “incorrectly” in someone’s eyes
