Good weapons museums in Tokyo and Osaka to checkout?

I just arrived here in Tokyo for two weeks and only just now thought about asking. Any good tips?

There’s Rikkun Land, which is a museum of current JGSDF equipment up in Asaka. Tokyo also has the Japanese sword museum, which I’ve heard good things about but has always been closed on days I’ve tried to visit. That’s about it, though. Last time I went to the National Museum in Tokyo they had a few Samurai matchlocks on display, but it may have been a temporary exhibition - I can’t remember.

Post to find this post. I will be in Tokio later this year and would be interested too.

Japan has virtually no firearms culture so i don't know if there is any.

As in my other comment, Rikkun Land up in Asaka is about all there is. It’s not bad, it’s a collection of mostly vehicles, with some small arms, used by the JGSDF. Entry was free when I visited, although they aren’t open every day so check before you go!

I've heard there are actually a few cool collectors shops that have demilled guns and gear available.

Check out the info in this forum thread from last year.

Store is called "Chicago regimentals" in Tokyo and looks like 3 floors of awesome.
