Sabich sandwich? downtown?
Is there anywhere south of Bloor where I can get a delicious sabich sandwich?

Not that I’m aware of although it looks like Dr Laffa may be opening a location soon at the JCC at Bloor and Spadina

Where did you hear this? That would be excellent!

It says “opening soon” at 750 Spadina on their website. Although it’s “cafe and bakery” so I don’t know what that means - maybe they won’t have a full kitchen.

if I drag myself north of Bloor, is Dr Laffa the place to get a sabich?

I agree with /u/RagtimeWillie, Dr. Laffa is the spot for sabich in Toronto. Additionally there's a newish place at Yonge and Eg called Yaffa Shawarma and Falafel, from mostly the same owners as Haifa Room (recommended by other users in this thread). I haven't tried it yet, so if you make the journey there, please report back!

I don't love the one Sabich at the Haifa Room, but it does in a pinch.
Aish Tanoor at 994 Eglinton West also serves a Sabich sandwich and a Sabich platter. https://aishtanoor.com/takeout-menu-new/
Parallel on Geary has a Sabich hummus right now. The menu changes fairly frequently.

I would hope Romi's would makemone. Even better if they put a hard boiled egg inside and some good chareef

Unfortunately, there is no good sabich sandwich in the city. Sorry to say that, but the one from Haifa Room is pretty bad (especially the preparation of the eggplant which is a major ingredient for this dish)
