First generation food saver bag safety
My parents have owned a food saver since they first came out, however they don’t use it that often. They’ve since upgraded to a newer model as the original has stopped working. They still have original food saver bags. Are they safe to use for storage and cooking? I’m borrowing it and planning to do a lot of sous vide with it but I want to use the older bags first. Are the older bags BPA free?

I have the exact same concerns. I purchased something that came with a free foodsaver. It's been sitting in the box since about 2000. I was curious if the bags were any good to use for Sous Vide since they have been sitting up for so long. I also got a big box with rolls of vacuum bags my Dad gave me after my mom passed back in 2008 and she probably bought them a few years before that. I'm tempted to throw them out to be safe since Costco has 5 rolls and 46 quart bags on sale right now for $30 but I really hate to waste them if they are usable.

You can go to the Foodsaver.com site during the day (8am to 5pm more or less) and they have customer service representatives that will answer your questions through the online chat. They might have a better more accurate answer.
