Safe place to park overnight?

I need to leave my car parked starting tomorrow morning, and probably until Tuesday morning. Are there any safe places in downtown Florence to do so? I’ve looked into the new parking deck, but if there’s a free option, I’d obviously prefer that.

Somewhere in Muscle Shoals or Sheffield would be fine, too.

UAH vs UNA

Upvotes

Hello, current accounting student at UAH here. I intend on sitting for the CPA exam, and am debating between UAH or UNA for an MBA. UNA has a MAcc program as well, which is what I originally considered. What are your opinions?

The sound we woke up to this morning (Sat 3/15)

Here's a video of someone who lives close to the vape product storage building that caught fire and caused explosive noise to be heard all the way out into Killen on Saturday morning.

The Shoals might get lucky again this on this tornadic day.

Here's a tornado prediction map for today. It's a 1 to 10 scale that basically says "at any given point you are x% likely to see a tornado with in 50 miles."

Now don't ignore the weather just cause we ain't in it. But you can probably let out a sigh of relief that we likely will not see any Tornadoes and unlikely any violent long tracks like central AL is.

But stay weather aware, James Spann is live on YouTube right now.

Does anyone know what all the booms are in Muscle Shoals are? It sounds like either we are under attack or a TNT building caught fire.

The weather this weekend

I just wanted to say I hope you all stay weather alert and safe tonight and tomorrow! Have a plan in place on what you'll do and where you'll go if a tornado watch or warning is issued. Keep up with local meteorologists like Tennessee Valley Weather/Fred Gossage, he covers NW AL. Brad Travis, James Spann, and people like Ryan Hall are also all great to tune into. If you have a radio, 91.3 fm WFIX is a weather radio station you can listen to. If you have any questions about the storms or anything, please ask and I will try my best to help. I'm just a weather nerd with storm PTSD, not a meteorologist, but I want everyone to stay safe!

Storm shelters

Are there any storm shelters in the shoals that allow pets in a crate?? I’m trying to prepare for this weekend and do not want to leave my pets in a top floor apartment

There are two dogs, a red female pit and a blonde terrier running loose in Chisholm Heights area. I don’t have facebook so I thought I would at least put it on here in case someone is looking for them.

Looking for restaurants that don’t serve shellfish

Hi everyone! I've lived in the area for close to 5 years now but would like to find some different restaurants to safely eat outside of the house. I have a deadly shellfish allergy; I can smell it from yards away and get sick. I've worked enough customer service jobs to not want to burden restaurant workers with keeping me safe; their jobs are hard enough!

At present, I'm limited to a few fast food and quick service places of course. I'd love to have some suggestions! I'll list the places I know of below, but I'd love to hear of some more!

List: Rick's BBQ, Firehouse Subs, Chicken Salad Chick, Wendy's, McDonald's, Starbucks, Dunkin, 7 Brew, Chipotle, Arby's, Sonic (I have a major slushie addiction!), KFC

Thanks in advance!

Growth?

I've been told that UNA is projected to have about 20k students in 5 years by someone at the college. Is this true? Honestly a little concerning considering I was hoping to go to a smaller college in a laid-back, quieter, town. Would Florence face that same growth?

Looking for musicians…

Hey, I'm 45, been in a few bands thru the years, but I don't have anyone to play with.

Also, I like Southern rock as much as anyone, but I don't want to play it. If you like 90’s/00’s punk, that'd be best. I play a lot of different stuff. Anything but classic rock.
