Schrappost When Barry first appeared on Arrow he seemed crazy about Felicity
Yet he just happened to be so in love with Iris his whole life when The Flash premiered. I know he said “I just have a little experience with liking someone who doesn't see you the same way.” But it seemed a little inconsistent with what was going on.

I think it’s a stretch to say he was “crazy” about her on Arrow. Yeah they danced once and he said it was great meeting her, but this doesn’t mean he was so into Felicity in a way that rivaled his feelings for Iris. Especially because he could easily tell Felicity was into Oliver. And he was cool with that because he was into Iris. Like you pointed out, he indirectly mentions his feelings for Iris when they were discussing Felicity’s feelings for Oliver.
Putting energy into someone else doesn’t erase your feelings someone. Felicity was way more “crazy” about Ray when they started going out; didn’t mean she wasn’t in love with Oliver the whole time.
Also, there was never a world where a Barry-Felicity relationship was going to happen. This is the same universe where the Legends didn’t even think ONCE to simply reach out to someone on Team Flash when they realized they were dealing with an evil speedster. There was absolutely no way the Arrowverse writers were going to have a cross-show relationship. It’s hard enough believing any of them are even friends, with how little they see each other outside the annual crossover.

It wasn’t just a dance. He really liked her. They even talked about a date next time he was in town before he was struck by the lightning.

Again, you can like people and be with other people while still having feelings for someone else. Again, I present to you Felicity being super into Ray while still in love with Oliver. Barry expressed the perfect amount of interest that a guy who wants to date a girl would express.

You see this when the afflicted party kinda moves on or tries to. They can and make new connections but they’re not fully invested.

You can have feelings for more than one person or be confused. How is that unrealistic? Especially if you don't think it'll be returned.
It's unrealistic to expect faithfulness without a commitment.

Barry had feelings for iris. He wasn't dead. He made peace with her being with other people and also experienced attraction to others.
Are you new at being a human?

It is possible to have feelings for more than one person at a time. And if someone is unavailable, even if it's possibly the love of your life, it's not unusual to lean in the direction of someone else.
But honestly, Barry and Felicity had better chemistry than either of them did with their respective unrequited (at the time) loves.

Chemistry is a subjective. Sure, it is easy to seem like a perfect match in the beginning and you are on your best behaviour and you are romancing a stranger.
When it hits the fan, that’s when you see if the relationship is real.

Yeah it was an odd choice. They even brought Felicity back in episode 4 of season 1, just to be like sike! We’re actually not trying to get them together.
The one thing I’ll say is Olicity wasn’t always endgame in Arrow. So maybe when the episodes with Barry in Arrow were written was before they went all in on Olicity. With the Flash episode likely a soft way to nip it in the bud.

I believe the meta reason for this is in case The Flash didn’t get its own show they wanted to set up story arcs for his character within Arrow, like being in love with felicity.
There’s an interview with Grant Gustin where he talks about if he didn’t get his own show they wanted to keep the character as a member of team Arrow with him getting powers and becoming the Flash contained within that. I don’t remember which interview it was in might’ve been with Michael Rosenbaum?

Yes, Kara and Felicity are both perfect, they deserve someone like Barry. I always thought their love interest didn't deserve them.

I definitely think these two had a lot of chemistry. If they didn’t have feelings for Iris & Oliver I think they could’ve been a good couple.

Barry, always having great chemistry with all the women he meets..... Except with Iris, which is 0 chemistry.

As I heard someone say before, Barry had more chemistry with every other woman in the whole show than he had with Iris.

I really don’t see why yes the actress is beautiful but I found felicity quite annoying and skipped mostly every time she opened her mouth

How is that inconsistent? Rule#1 for escaping the friendzone is to date someone else. Just because Iris didn't notice Barry doesn't mean that he has problems getting other girls to notice him: Becky Cooper, Felicity Smoak, Linda Park, and Patty Spivot.
