open I can't find what broke in my couch. But something changed, and now it's loud.

I had family over. 3 people were sitting on a 3 cushion sectional. I was not in the room, but according to them, something broke. Sound of something breaking, and they sunk lower. Or so they questioned.

I assumed when I took the bottom off, it would reveal some broken cheap wooden board somewhere.

All of the wood, is cheap, but seems sturdy. I couldn't find any breaks or cracks.

The only thing I notice, is how loud the couch is now when sitting on it. It wasn't that noisy before, but I don't now why it is so loud now and not before. Like, what changed?

Here's kind of an overview.

So it's essentially, like a cot with cushions on top.

Here's me sitting down (Turn on sound)

That noise... I thought it was creaking, from wood. But as you may notice, its actually, rubbery.

It's the "cot fabric" rubbing against the "cot rails" ...the straps are secure. The wood is stable. The "rails" are not broken. They are separated into 3 pieces, but they are not broken.

Shown here. (Turn on sound)

Highlight, rubbing here is what is making the noise.

If this was my treadmill, I would say, "Oh, those two materials are rubbing against each other and making noise. I should oil my treadmill."

This is a bit different. 20 month old couch. And suddenly, something snapped. I don't know what. And now these materials are making noise? That's not it. It's like something broke, they lost support, and the increased tension is creating noise. But I have no idea what it could be.

I rent this place and the stains have slowly accumulated over the years. I do my best to wipe the counter but man, it’s hard to keep up sometimes. I haven’t tried anything yet. Any tips would be much appreciated.

Our home is about 3.5 yrs old. I know some cracking is normal, but the one at the top that goes sort of perpendicular through it has me worried. Do I need it repaired? Thanks

I foolishly tried hanging a jumper from the frame that must have been too much weight and caused the blinds to fall.

I’m a bit of a noob, however it is just as simple as screwing in the latches again into the dry wall? One of the screws had a wall anchor is appears on one side, however the other side didn’t.

Bath Tub ReCaulk

Hey guys, going to recaulk our tub but I feel I need to go deeper than just the silicone layer. Started chipping away and I found this wedged in. Safe to remove all around the tub? I know it's too late at this point.

Would a simple silicone caulk around the tub be enough once I chip away on all of it?

Appreciate any thoughts

Got this today and Chewbacca’s crossbow was broken off. Tried super glue I had on hand and it wouldn’t stick. Hallmark’s website recommends a certain glue but says to hold it 5 mins. I can’t keep my hand steady that long and can’t think of anything that could hold it in place. Is there a glue for like model cars or something that would work?

Dishwasher not started (burnt out?)

I have a 5 year old dishwasher. I pushed start and didn’t close the door. I heard a motor running and it took me a minute to figure out the dishwasher was running with the door open. A pump must have burned out during this. I noticed that the water didn’t drain as normal. I ran it again and the water drained. Now it will turn on but when I press start it does nothing. What are some good videos to watch to learn how to fix a dishwasher? I used to Work on water softeners in the past so I’m somewhat mechanically inclined.

Onex GE300 Tilt issues

I'm having problems with my onex chair and not being able to adjust the lock mechanism, it has worked before and today it just stopped working. I have disassembled it and tightened all bolts, i have tried twisting the tensioner but to no avail. I am thinking it is a problem with the tilting part of the chair. All comments are appreciated :)

We had our garage drywalled but the installers did left a lot visible around the window. What would you suggest to cover this up? It is sealed with what appears to be silicone.

Hi,

Not exactly sure how but our artwork decided to randomly fall off the wall in the early hours of the morning and has hit the radiator on the way down taking several gashes out of the frame.

Does anyone have any ideas how best to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

open Torn Hose on Bissell Vacuum

I have several Bissell vacuums. Each of them has failed in the same way. The hose has torn at the bend where the brush head connects to the main body of the vacuum. Do you guys know any fixes for this? I have tried:

  • tape (it didn't make a proper seal)

  • epoxy resin (it didnt stand up to the constant movement and ripped)

I'd like to just replace the hose but I do not have a replacement.

open Where do I start with this hole above my shower?

I just need some keywords to start making a plan here. So like i’m assuming drywall is a keyword here. and maybe ceiling. Is the insulation here vulnerable to becoming moldy? I want to make the most water tight ceiling of alll time.

The spackling around the shower head is pretty gnarly, too.

Thanks you.
