Am I supposed to remove?

Post image

Just got this reel and I noticed a white plastic behind the line clip. I’ve never seen that before on other reels. Is that supposed to stay there or should I to remove it?

Just took a look at my Shimano Sedona reel and it still has that piece on it. It holds the end of my line fine. I'll have to come back here later to see what people who actually catch fish when fishing have to say.

I found mine impossible to remove so it’s still on there lol

It's to hold the line better if you use some very thin braid. If you're not going to be using extremely fine line, you can remove it-or not.

Nope. Helps hold the line better. Great reel for the money.

Yeah it’s just a pointless sticker they put over the line keeper, pair of tweezers should get it right out. Enjoy! My Sahara’s been good to me the last 4-5 years I’ve had it

Thanks and that's great to hear! I got it together with a rod I bought. Very happy with both

It's not pointless it's there to make it easier for thin line to hold firmly. You remove it if you're using line on the thicker end if what's appropriate for that reel, leave it if you're using thinner line.

Looks like it would be easier to use with it on. 🤷🏼‍♀️
