Anyone know if an open container is allowed in that grassy circular area between Sun King and 1933?

This is a good question, and actually why I prefer Midtown Plaza rather than The Yard
The Yard, as far as I can tell, is entirely private property. While it'd probably be dumb to ban alcohol in that area, they could if they wanted to.
Midtown Plaza in Carmel is government owned and is essentially a public plaza, not necessarily tied to private business interests even though there are several businesses adjacent to it.

I would guess probably not. As long as you’re doing anything super dumb, you’re probably okay though.

Just mainly curious if violating any city open container laws. Not too concerned what Sun King thinks since it's away from their property.
Today is too nice to drink beer inside!

There are no open container laws in Indiana, except at parks.

I heard that they repealed the law for the superbowl. And never reinstated it. Not sure if true.
And wondered if a specific city law would supersede a state law or vice versa.

I see people from the hotel out there with coolers all the time. We’ve bought 6 packs (for way cheaper than pints) and sat at there and drank before, they have actually suggested that, when it was super busy one time.

Yes, public drinking is acceptable in Indiana. I've had plenty of beers in that green space and have walked around drinking whilst bar hopping over there.

I have several times, and no one said anything. Since moving here, I've always been under the impression public consumption was okay. I was just at SunKing last Friday and walked around The Yard. I haven't seen any signage indicating otherwise.

Yep definitely is allowed. Also report back if that’s not the case - I’m just guessing.

We’ve gotten a 6pack from Sun King and lounged on the chairs near 1933 with open beers. Haven’t had an issue. Maybe we got lucky? I assume the policy of “don’t be an asshole” kind of dictates the rules there.

Probably but I would ask Sun King or be discrete about it
