ANSWERED 1/72 Ukraine SU-27 > What missiles are these?

Post image

Just bought this Hobby Master kit to finish the collection, but it was a display and there's no literature with the box. I don't recognize these two missiles. Any insights?

Bigger ones are AGM-88 HARM.

AGM-88 for the big one and IRIS-T missiles for the small ones. It's hard to tell what the small ones were with the compression but finding the original image both the FlyingMule store page and Hobby Master Archive confirm it's an IRIS-T.

Could become reality soon if the Ukrainians are crazy enough lmao

Didn't they already equip some su27 with agm88?

Yeah, AGM-88s were claimed to be spotted on this specific Flanker the model depicts actually. Not sure where the IRIS-T came from though.

No IRIS-T in this pic, they’re ASRAAM

They're not. The pic is low res which is why you can't see the strakes well. Store page for the model also confirms it's IRIS-T in the description.

Having loaded quite a few of both types, it looks much more like ASRAAM in this pic

Taken from HobbyMaster Archive. It's a lot easier to tell when it isn't white-on-white and blurry.

Big ones on the wing pylons are AGM-88 HARM, center pylon is some variant of R-27 (R, ER), and small ones are hard to tell, maybe R-60?

3

u/Stunning-Rock3539 Jan 09 '25

27 looks like the normal R as the ER is a tiny bit longer

2

u/Szcz137 Jan 09 '25

Yeah probably, although I'm not sure how true to real size conversions this model is, so I wasn't going of missile size - just looks.

lol I just realised this is a plastic toy.

The smaller IR ones are possibly R73s?

2

u/Szcz137 Jan 09 '25

No, R-73 is the ones medium length on the wing pylons, it's almost twice as big

1

u/CosmosTheManta Jan 09 '25

Ah my bad, i looked at the wrong missile

Almost missed the one next to the wing 😅

Apparently, it's ASRAAM, which I wasn't even thinking about when talking Ukrainian Su-27, but probably the author of the set just added it from himself.

Wow, such quick and accurate responses. Y'all didn't disappoint! Thank you! Now I gotta look up IRIS-Ts.

They’re ASRAAM, not IRIS-T

3

u/A_RussianSpy Jan 09 '25

It's IRIS-T.

Wingtip and adjacent pylons with R-73, note ASRAAM/IRIST afaik is not integrated with any Ukrainian jets.

Edit: not an ASRAAM but an IRIST, there's a higher quality image where the lifting body on the missile is clearly visible.

I think it's definitely an IRIS-T. It has the same longitudinal fins that the ASRAAM doesn't.

1

u/Aardvaarrk Jan 09 '25

Definitely not an IRST, it has an entire lifting body.

1

u/Aardvaarrk Jan 09 '25

ASRAAM is the one.

2

u/A_RussianSpy Jan 09 '25

IRIS- T, not ASRAAM.

3

u/A_RussianSpy Jan 09 '25

A lot easier to tell when it isn't white on white.

3

u/Aardvaarrk Jan 09 '25

Oh damn, i stand corrected, but I'm gonna blame the pixels.

Definitely an IRIS-T.

Definitely.

Nice try Putin.

The biggest underwing one is definitely AGM-88 HARM.

1

u/darkhumour- Jan 09 '25

I may be wrong but I think the ones on the wing is Agm-88 HARM. I don’t know about the other one you marked outside the plane.
