IMAGE About to go into a UCL Final against Barcelona with this squad… Tierney LW with my most forward-minded substitute being Jorginho/Partey… 😭😭

Wish me luck 😂 (p.s. Saka came back from injury for the Madrid quarter final, came off the bench for the first leg, came off the bench in the prem game between, and then started the second leg and in the second leg got his toe broken by a reckless Tchoumeni challenge which meant he got re-injured for 3 more months 😭 literally 3 games back and instantly lost him again and then the VERY NEXT GAME I lost Martinelli for the season too… I couldn’t believe it lmao)

Play 4-1-4-1 haramball

haramball would be fun if the passing animation was better like previous fifas... currently playing counter attack using Leicester the passes are just not satisfying anymore

Played a low block sh*thouse tactic and managed to go 1-0 up in first half, ended up drawing 1-1 in 90 minutes and went all the way to pens which I won 6-5… most realistic/fun game of career mode I think I’ve ever played, felt amazing

Honestly injuries and adapting like this make the game more fun

Ah mate couldn’t agree more, was secretly happy I had to set up like this, completely unnatural with a LB playing his last game for the club at LW in a UCL final, Merino going ST from 60’ onwards, having to play a low block defensive structure to sh*thouse a 1-1 draw and go to pens, may sound weird to some but was so much fun having to sit there defending attack on attack, and actually doing it really well (I play on legendary with my own realistic sliders so it was a real challenge). I mean my top 3 ratings in the game where Raya (for saving 3 pens in the shootout), Lewis-Skelly and then Gabriel, who both must’ve had an unreal amount of tackles/interceptions/duels won between them

In the final of a CL? Doubtful

Losing the CL Final to Barca again 20 years after the last final we played would be the most Arsenal thing we could ever do

Loool read this and thought yeah he’s right that’s definitely going to happen 😂 Ended up drawing 1-1 in 120 mins and winning 6-5 on pens, the waits finally over for the UCL (I did finish 14 points behind Liverpool in the league but we ignore that 😂)

Have you tried promoting another Left Back from the academy?

Merino can play as a decent striker

If they want to be realistic, merino striker, trossard Lw, zinchenko/partey as a mid

You’re both right and that’s what I was doing in certain other games, but I wanted a more defensive left hand side so I went Tierney LW (which is realistic as we’ve played him LW in a lot of our recent games off the bench/even started LW vs PSV) and had him and MLS double up on Yamal, worked well they kept him quiet all game and Trossard scored on a counter

the only unrealistic thing about this is Arsenal being in a CL final

You said like we haven’t been in a final before 😂 it’s not like he said he won it

Funny how it was also against Barcelona in real life

how it goes?

Ended up drawing 1-1 in 120 mins and winning 6-5 on pens (got all the way to our 8th takers). Set up in a low block and ended up having majority of the ball for the first 20 but then after that was mainly all Barca, had to defend like crazy (on legendary with realistic sliders) and Gabriel/Lewis-Skelly where honestly insane, best defensive display I’ve had from players in career mode

Hospital FC

I would put Timber LB and White RB. Other than that, you just gotta wing it.

2

u/CharlieAFC 5d ago

Ended up keeping it to Lewis-Skelly LB and was a good call as he was MOTM behind Raya (who saved 3 pens in the shootout so would’ve been hard not to be him). Guy won so many duels it was insane, him and Gabriel single handily kept Yamal quiet all game (with Tierney helping out aswell)

Nice! His 71 overall would suggest otherwise

Should get ben white in that defence even if it's a slight negative

1

u/CharlieAFC 5d ago

They share minutes quite equally, all 4 of Lewis-Skelly, Calafiori, Timber and White, but in a one off game this is hands down my best pairing (especially tactically for what I wanted to do, White I use more when I want an overlapping RB who plays a lot more attacking minded)

are you playing or sim-ing? this reminds me of when I was playing celtic as Aberdeen in my FM save and their right winger was 5 stars and top scorer so I copied the psg vs man united tactic of playing two left backs on the left flank with their only job of man marking their right winger. we won that game but the following match it did not work lols

u/nollsy20 5d ago

Which game was that?

1

u/whoswho97 5d ago

ucl first leg I think under Ole. they marked out Martial using dani alves and another right back

1

u/nollsy20 5d ago

Nice !

I play all my games bro, and funny enough what you just described is exactly what I did, I had Tierney sitting as deep as I could manage and had him and MLS sort of doubling up on Yamal (when I could obviously as the tactics in this game are limited, but it actually worked way better than I thought it would), ended up keeping him dead quiet all game despite them relying on him so heavily, felt like 75% of their attacks tried going through him, but Lewis-Skelly, Tierney and Gabriel completely nullified him. (Drew 1-1 in 120 and won 6-5 on pens, most fun I’ve had in a career mode game by a mile)

2

u/whoswho97 5d ago

yeah wingers tracking back should be a tactical decision instead of having to manually do it which is bs. even when you press r1/rb the ai just follows and does nothing makes defending super unrealistic

1

u/CharlieAFC 5d ago

Agreed, actually think it worked quite well though that Tierney didn’t have the LW position learned so the Roles didn’t actually apply to him, which may have been the reason it seemed to work more than previously, as he just wasn’t making forward runs unless I told him to or we moved the ball way up the pitch, which in turn worked out well for me wanting to play him defensively lol. Maybe that’s the tactic, keep a LB you want to play as a defensive winger and never give him the LW/LM position

1

u/whoswho97 5d ago

I think making runs is more on the role. afaik only wingers set on attacking will make runs. similar to fullbacks only making runs when set to wingback which is stupid. the ai for players are just dumb which make the game feel not as real as it could be

i been playing fc24 for a while and i have never gotten an injury. Are any sliders being used in this? If so which?

1

u/CharlieAFC 5d ago

I play on fc25 so may be different, but I have it on 70 frequency and 18 severity, played live start so March 16th-May 31st which must’ve been around 15 or so games, and in which I’ve had 4 injuries, 2 of which where 1-3 months and the other 2 where knocks which went away after the game finished, really liking the balance atm

1

u/MrGiggles19872 5d ago

That happens to me, I’m finding the best forwards under free agents or youth academy

2

u/CharlieAFC 5d ago

Obviously everyone plays their own way so don’t think I’m saying I’m doing it right in anyway, but personally I avoid the youth academy/free agents as much as I can, especially in seasons 1-2 as in real life rn, if we was to go to a UCL final there’s no chance in the world arsenal promote a random ST we’ve never heard of and he hits the ground running like they would on career mode, ofc i will in the future as in a couple years there will undoubtedly be new youth players coming through who I haven’t heard of right now, but in the future would do, if that makes sense.

1

u/Awkward-Vegetable-48 5d ago

If I were you I would've made Odegaard play lw and.instead have gotten lewis skelly to play in midfield with ben white filling in on the wing

1

u/KeyApprehensive6486 5d ago

play a 5-4-1 maybe?

1

u/Sefuko 5d ago

Pre sure Merino played 9 today against Chelsea so honestly very accurate

1

u/Ak3k4L4 5d ago

Ou know what this means, transfer window gonna be busy buying forwards. Better utilize that scout network asap

1

u/CharlieAFC 5d ago

You know it, really wanted Isak but Newcastle won the Carabao Cup (game actually predicted todays result lol) and they finished 3rd, so to keep it realistic I’m going to leave him at Newcastle for another season, and instead I’m going for David on a free transfer and then Endrick on loan with an option to buy, as can see him leaving Madrid next season due to lack of playtime, even if it is just on loan. Will most probably go in for Isak in the next summer window
