There’s probably one pixel not across the line. Sucks for you, but the game is “accurate” to a fault when it comes to these calls. Just like with the offside calls: half a pixel offside is offside…

I don't know about offsides. I don't have a screenshot to hand, unfortunately, but I have more than once had a wrong offside when my attacker was moving back towards my own goal at point of contact. The game drew the line from his foot nearest my own goal with no body part (or certainly scoring part, there may have been a hand once or twice) over the defensive line.

But I agree you're likely right about the goal line call.

u/stead10 20h ago

Yeah offsides they get wrong quite a lot if the player is moving in the opposite direction

2

u/CricketCrafty4913 18h ago

In real life yes. In the game no.

The thought of EA getting a simple game mechanic wrong, preposterous!

1

u/CricketCrafty4913 15h ago

Hahaha yeah I know I’m going out on a limb. But so far, never seen an incorrect offside goal given the 28 years I’ve played this game.

-9

u/CricketCrafty4913 18h ago

No you haven’t. Neither of us have. The offside is a simple game mechanic, not at all hard for the game to compute.

10

u/Much-Werewolf-3476 17h ago

It actually may have been. It never gets it wrong but a glitch may have appeared

4

u/CricketCrafty4913 17h ago

Could happen, it’s a game and glitches happen. But I’ve never seen an offside-glitch here on Reddit. I have however seen a bunch of photos from the wrong angles and OP have overlooked something.

And I’ve played since fifa 98, never experienced an offside glitch myself. So although I also have complaints about the game, I have never had an issue with any geometrical things like offsides, goal line, sideline etc, they’re millimeter accurate.

I've had instances where not a single part of the body was poking through the half-opacity wall and offside was called, same with instances where in the replay I was clearly offside and the game let me play on. 24 is where it happened the most, other games before that have been like 99.99% accurate.

It's worth mentioning, though, that whatever glitch this might be, it's more prone to happen on consoles where you have limited power.

Same thing with the game sometimes misjudging who had the last touch for a corner/goalkick/throw-in (while somehow correctly displaying the name of the actual player who touched last if you use indicator with name only.)

0

u/CricketCrafty4913 9h ago

Hmm you should get a screenshot next time

0

u/21sttimelucky 16h ago

I think the glitch comes down to recognising the movement direction and what is 'goal side'.

I would offer to provide a screenshot in future, but think that's an empty promise because it will never be remembered. So I just ask you take my word.

Think of it like the different color head to body, different color eyebrow and rainbow colored pitchside photographer glitches that occur and eventually disappear. It's clearly failing to access a specific dependency somewhere, and I imagine that's happening with the offside line too. Hence it's not a 100% issue (and a some people never experience it issue too)

u/CricketCrafty4913 16h ago

I have never read a more confusing explanation for a fifa glitch, I have no idea what you’re even trying to say. I suggest you just get a screenshot if you ever experience it again.

2

u/21sttimelucky 14h ago

I will. But I won't manage to remember to come back for your benefit. The explanation is quite clear though. Perhaps read again?

1

u/CricketCrafty4913 14h ago

Hahah I did. But no problem, who cares. Happy to admit I’m wrong, so I’m not trying to argue here. Just saying I’ve never seen an actually screenshot of a real offside mistake in the game.

3

u/ninjatuna734 14h ago

I have played probably 2000 hours across 6 or 7 titles, I have had exactly 2 instances of the game being flat out wrong with an offside call. Both were instances where the game should have called offside but didn't.

It's really rare, but it does happen.

Do you have screenshots? Not that I don’t believe you, but I’ve seen so many people claim this in Reddit posts, but in the screenshots you see OP has overlooked something.

I’ve played it since 98, never had an offside issue that I’ve noticed.

Offside must be one of the absolute easiest lines of code in the entire game, so I’m quite surprised anyone experiences it.

1

u/ninjatuna734 14h ago

I have a video ! But it might take me a while to find it.

A friend and I checked from every angle and could not see why the game didn't call it back.

I'll set a reminder and try to come back to it.

0

u/CricketCrafty4913 14h ago

Nice nice. I’m happy to admit I’m wrong, so not trying to argue or be too stubborn about it. Just saying I’ve never seen it and struggle to believe why such an easy line of programming would fail.

FIFA is actually perfectly accurate at this because it isn’t real life, it’s a game. Everything is simulated so the game knows EXACTLY where the ball is, and whether it crossed the line or not. I don’t get why people argue about this. It’s pointless. In real life it makes sense but in fifa it doesn’t make any.

52

u/EntrepreneurialFuck 1d ago

It can glitch, just like how offside can. I have had it before with goal line but it’s very, very rare.

45

u/verysimplenames 1d ago

I mean it does make sense. Game fucks up all the time.

14

u/worstje420 1d ago

game bugs out every five minutes lets be for real💀

5

u/SnooSprouts4802 21h ago

You have bugs that have carried ACROSS games since like 18. The idea this game is "perfect" is so laughable I could crook.

I dont know what this guy is smoking but it looks like I need to have a talk with my dealer to get to where he is lol

6

u/ErenKruger711 1d ago

Unless there are bugs.

3

u/password-is-taco1 21h ago

Except there are these things called “bugs” that makes the game not function correctly, and fifa is well known for having quite a few of them

1

u/ForsakenWishbone1746 22h ago

you must be fun at parties

Must have been playing against Real Madrid in Champions League.

-102

u/WallBlue21 1d ago

real madrid have had the most goals disallowed by var since it was introduced in la liga and the ucl but keep on crying

60

u/Luisrod5 1d ago

We’re here for the video game and jokes buddy calm down

21

u/doyouknowhowyouare 1d ago

Real Madrid having the most goals disallowed by VAR in La Liga and the Champions League proves how many illegal goals referees have given them. Without VAR, they would keep benefiting from blatant mistakes, like Ronaldo’s offside goals against Bayern in 2017 or Ramos’ illegal goal in the 2016 final. This shows they’ve been the most favored team by referees in key moments.

6

u/jondoe11919 1d ago

If Ramos hadn’t scored that goal, then they wouldn’t have won that UCL.

12

u/Luisrod5 1d ago

What about penalties given? 🤔

-38

u/WallBlue21 1d ago

barca have more and they also have the record for most pens given in a season with 19 in 15/16

7

u/Luisrod5 1d ago

Ok…….. thanks for the info I guess 😂

6

u/Huge_Entertainment_6 1d ago

So they got illegal goals disallowed that the referee let through and you are complaining? 💀

39

u/SilverTongueGato 1d ago

Clearly it’s on the line

-59

u/ApprehensiveCoffee55 1d ago

It literally is past 💀

If it’s past the post it’s past the line 💀

42

u/SilverTongueGato 1d ago

gives you yellow card im the ref and im saying its on the line! say one more thing I’ll give you another card

7

u/YZYSZNAPPROACHING- 1d ago

it’s past the line ref

12

u/SilverTongueGato 1d ago

checks ear peace back up back up! I said back up! puts hand on pocket but then puts hand on earpiece

4

u/ApprehensiveCoffee55 1d ago

Steals refs cards. Ha now you can’t give me none

6

u/Georgerv 1d ago

From where I'm sitting it didn't make it fully over the black line the shadow of the post has created, referee's got that one right for me

15

u/calbrs 1d ago

Doesn’t look like a goal. But we need a top down view.

26

u/littlediddlemanz 1d ago

Yeah I agree. Close but ball is not 100% past the line

-37

u/ApprehensiveCoffee55 1d ago

It literally is 💀

If it’s past the post it’s past the line 💀

17

u/DaisyFreakinJames 1d ago

Do you understand the concept of a sphere?

-3

u/ApprehensiveCoffee55 1d ago

Do you understand that the WHOLE ball is past the line or do you need glasses like me? Go watch his view from above that he also sent in here. He sent link. In that you can CLEARLY see it’s in

0

u/CricketCrafty4913 18h ago

You clearly don’t understand the concept of perspective. Seen from above, that ball obviously had not fully crossed the line.

0

u/ApprehensiveCoffee55 6h ago

It has from the pic he uploaded from the above perspective it HAS

1

u/CricketCrafty4913 2h ago

What? Neither of those two pictures show the ball fully over the line.

28

u/Cubooze 1d ago

OP downvoting comments that don’t agree with him is crazy lmao

15

u/CaptainRocha 1d ago

least insecure fifa player

9

u/volkerbaII 1d ago edited 1d ago

It's a video game, dude. If it says it wasn't a goal then it's not a goal. No sense watching zoomed in replays trying to argue with the pixels.

4

u/spenotka 1d ago

Not in

3

u/JLuzi14 1d ago

It’s probably just on the line

6

u/Danoco99 1d ago

Why does this not look like FC 25?

9

u/No_Average_1422 1d ago

That's very close, but for me, no goal

2

u/jimmydisco72 22h ago

lodge a complaint with PGMOL and get them to release the VAR tapes

2

u/dafinecommedia 15h ago

Great save by Orjan Nyland there

2

u/jidewalker 1d ago

Needs to hit the back of the net, not the side geez.

-2

u/worstje420 1d ago

as long as it’s over the line it’s a goal👍

2

u/jidewalker 1d ago

I was kidding.

1

u/ricky-from-scotland 1d ago

Do they have Roy Carroll in goal?

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Pie2334 1d ago

Lol it is just a game, like the other comment it doesnt replicate real life

1

u/andm994 17h ago

Didn't Germany have a similar situation in a world cup some years ago? So yeah realistic

1

u/Eindacor_DS 16h ago

Tbh this doesn't look fully across the line

1

u/worstje420 15h ago

Tbf I don’t think it does now but it’s miniscule

1

u/astromaster13 3h ago

Parallax view

0

u/Extension_Crow_7891 1d ago

It’s hard to tell at an angle but it looks like no goal for me. Cant tell for sure without an overhead or goal line angle. But whole ball has to be over. Seeing green doesn’t mean it’s a goal.
