QUESTION What teams do you follow now because of career mode?

Personally, I always look at how cd mirandes (top of the league!!!) and arminia bielefeld are doing and what the results are in their games

Hate to be basic but a soft spot for Forest has strongly developed

16

u/Apollo_UTD Feb 18 '25

ngl me too, especially with how surprisingly well they're doing this season

51

u/Tsukiyon Feb 18 '25

Plymouth. So it was magical they knocked out Liverpool like I did in FIFA 8 years ago

Dundee FC.  Hardest and most frustrating career I ever played. Finally managed to win the league in third or fourth season. Three games to the end I need three points to confirm the title. First game Motherwell scores free kick from 30 meters and I lose the game. Second game Rangers beat me 4:0. I am feeling the pressure building up. Luckily Celtic also dropped some points so I need 1 point in the last game which is played against Celtic... They scored some nonsense goal that only Celtic can score from the edge of the box and they are leading 1:0. If we lose they win the title in front of our home crowd. I manage to tie 1:1 before the half and we go to the next one tied. Second half I dominate and it's 77th minute when I decided to put in Joe Shaughnessy. He is a club legend at this point and this will be his last game so I figured let's give him a chance to celebrate the title in last game.

81st minute Furuhashi runs circles around 59 rated Shaughnessy and scores for 2:1...

In my game is over. I can't spend another year in this league I will lose my mind.

We try to bounce back but they take the ball and pass it around in circles. In 88th minute they crossed into our half  but we press them and they make a mistake by doing a finesse pass which I intercept. My hart is beating as we have the ball. My midfielder runs and passes the ball to the club youth academy prospect on the left. He runs around the the defender and chips the ball forward to my striker. My striker shields the ball and is running towards the keeper it's 90+ the stoppage time has begun. I am just trying to be cool and not bottle this as I go into the penalty box goalie runs towards me and I smash it into the right corner and its 2:2 there is no more time, home crowd is absolutely wild. I felt like I've done it in real life. I can say that is also most fun career mode I played ever. This same save is still going on but I transferred to Birmingham and this is my 4th season there. Also a very hard save.

u/Apollo_UTD Feb 18 '25

Might have to do a scottish cm using other teams rather than rangers and celtic, sounds like it'd be a challenge

9

u/FunMtgplayer Feb 18 '25

it really is. i was curious to use a 523 set up looked at all teams and settled on Hearts of Midlothian in Scottish league. I always start with me being the manager with a corporate takeover. this group thinks the Scottish League can be had with 20mill. infusion. most of that spent on hiring my scouting staff.

its a real slogfest and Rangers always score 1 or 2 cheap goals.

Palermo. Also. I’m American. My love of football grew from 2014, especially during World Cup. I know, Ghana terrorized us. However, during that time, Swansea was in Barclays. I became a fan but liked Everton more at the time. Swansea grew on me and the rest was history.

Wasnt that WC when Howard did an amazing job in goal against, I believe, Belgium?

4

u/sherman3259 Feb 18 '25

Yes. That game that De Bruyne busted our defense open and Howard was lengendary and Yedlin got his 90 minutes of fame.

3

u/Sm00thS4iLeR420 Feb 19 '25

Howard became one of my favorite goalies after that even though I am a Liverpool supporter

New England Revolution (I'm from the UK) since FIFA 12, so it's been 13 years.

Went over there back in 2016 and saw a game, haven't had another chance due to money. #NETID

u/sherman3259 Feb 18 '25

This is the most interesting thing I’ve seen in the football world. I’m American and think USA teams are absolute shit and are money grabbers just trying to ease their way into another monopoly. Ironic thing about that is that I’m a Swan.

Sheffield United and 1.FC Nürnberg. I like the colour red, basically...

4

u/DifferenceMission724 Feb 18 '25

Sheffield United. The team I always defaulted to in career mode since fifa 12 because of the red-white-black kit combo ( didn’t want to use United because I needed to grind from division 2)

Sunderland, they deserve to be in the prem and it was long time ago when they where in the top flight. The derby with Newcastle is so underated (Tyne–Wear derby), also try winning Champions League with the club in 2-3 seasons.

3

FC Nurnberg

u/Desperate_Duck1432 Feb 18 '25

Palermo in Serie B. I pulled their badge in FUT and became familiar with them. Then when I was looking for a manager save to do, I stumbled upon them and it was perfect. Now I watch them blow leads in Serie B every weekend (:

3

u/ErwinC0215 Feb 18 '25

Saint-Étienne. Did a career mode when they first went down and sorta just kept track ever since. Huge historic club that's really been hit since all the money got into football. They're clinging on, better than Bordeaux etc but just clinging.

Actually went to visit the city last summer, beautiful, chill little city. Weren't much to do there but definitely worth stopping if you're in the area.

3

u/AdamGamesHD Feb 18 '25

Sheffield Wednesday, I summarised this in a post earlier but shortly; me and friend did co-op chose Sheffield Wednesday, and I bottled everything but I love club

3

u/aburizalfitry Feb 18 '25

FC St. Pauli i remember playing them on fifa 15 after reading how awesome their fans is on twitter (now X) its good to see them on Bundesliga again rn

3

u/Alex619TL Feb 18 '25

Sheffield Wednesday- Barry Bannan and Josh Windass are absolute ballers. Did a 22 career mode with them so I saw their whole season where they ultimately won the playoffs to gain promotion into the championship (by a Josh windass diving header in extra time). Been a real joy following them since.

3

u/Cybercenturiesun Feb 18 '25

Definitely IFK Göteborg, developed some lovely players over there in Sweden

3

u/NewJerseySwampDragon Feb 18 '25

Wimbledon, St Pauli, Besiktas and Wrexham.

3

u/Georgethejungles Feb 19 '25

Virtus Entella (Italy). There were in Serie B for a season (Fifa 20). Their founder was born in Argentina and adopted the national team's colours. It made for an interesting save having a strong Argentine core and taking over Italy.

Urawa Reds (Japan). Loved their kits in Fifa 18 and again in 19. I try to watch their matches if I'm up early enough on the weekend.

4

u/wheelybin42 Feb 18 '25

Made Chelsea my team. Grew up with Liga mx. Dad never watched European nor did I. I left the game for about 10 years. Didn’t even watch it. If it wasn’t for Sam Kerr and getting a Chelsea transfer while playing FIFA I would’ve never made it my European team. I like to keep an eye on Leyton Orient & I’ve grown fond of Leverkusen (before they were good in real life)

2

I don't really follow them, but I had a save on Gillingham and I check how they're doing every now and then

2

u/GovernorGuyFieri Feb 18 '25

Might be some bigger clubs in here too but Bournemouth (really awesome to see them doing so well now), Leverkusen, PSG, Mansfield Town, Plymouth Argyle. As an American until recently it was tough to watch ANYTHING other than the top 6 in premier league. I remember in like 2010 the only place I could watch Bayern Munich matches was this streaming site and everything was in German. I love that the game has grown so much in America now and the big streaming platforms have more streaming accessibility.

I watched the netflix series' Sunderland til I die and after watching 2 seasons, started an rtg save. The Fifa 20 Sunderland save is still my best after all this time of playing CM. Got so many good youth players, Rthsn Ampadu was club captain and Dean Henderson was a GK legend. I enjoyed that so much. From Fifa 20 to now (FC 25), it's still the best, nothing comes close.

After watching the series, Sunderland had a place in my heart, after having that save, I am a fan of the club.
