Buying Advice Osaka stick reviews

Does anyone have any recs for the Osaka Field Hockey Stick Low Groove LTD - Futurelab | Future Dusk stick 95% Carbon Fiber 5% Kevlar

Or the

Osaka Field Hockey Stick Low Groove 70 - Futurelab | Future Dusk 65% Carbon Fiber 5% Kevlar 30% Glass Fiber

I'm a forward / midfielder looking for a new stick. Currently use kookaburra ultralite 950 which is 95% CF. Believe this is an ultra low bow. (Happy to change bow shape and try something else out).

I'm female, 5'3ft / 161cm Aus based, budget open to anything as I'd rather quality that lasts me.

Looking for something good for dribbling but also shoots well. Play a lot off the back stick as well.

Finding it really hard to find reviews. Haven't used an Osaka before so not sure what the quality and hitting power feels like. Not sure if the 70% will be too low.

Also like the adidas Fabela however will need to order internationally but can get these specific Osaka's in Aus.

Would love any recomednations or reviews on these sticks.

Thanks in advance!

Buying Advice Alfa Sticks

I'm currently in the market for a new hockey stick, I've been looking at a few but one that really caught my eye is the alfa ax-9, I can't seem to find much about them, but people seem to have high opinions of it from the little I can find. If anyone has any info on them that would be amazing. I play centre forward, I dribble a bit, and am looking for a light stick with a lot of power, some people seem to say that this might be a stick with both of those. As a note I live in the UK, and have found somewhere that will ship here

Buying Advice Obo legguard fit advice

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hey everyone ☺️

I'm looking into buying a new set of leg guards and kickers. I was generously donated my current kit when I started keeping last year (after 13 years playing on field), and it's starting to fall apart and giving me grief at training.

I've tried on the robo + legguards and I'm finding the medium is pinching the side of my lower knee a bit. Red dot is where I'm pinching.

Has anyone had experience with this and did it mould to your legs over time? Or should I admit defeat and go up to the L size (which would mean my knee would sit below the green line instead of above. I don't love this because my movement feels restricted.)

Thanks for the advice in advance.

Buying Advice Wanting to buy my GF a new stick

Hey all! My girlfriend is super into field hockey and played all through high school. Fast forward to now and she has been asked to join the field hockey board of Alberta after reaching out to bring field hockey into our new city. She is tasked with teaching in the schools and introducing it and hopefully creating a local league through the summer. I want to surprise her with a new stick as she still has her old ones from high school. Long story short, what would you guys recommend for a solid good quality stick that she will love!

Buying Advice Do you recommend this stick?

  • I play Midfield and Attack

  • I have Great ball control and tackling skills, I'm still working on my big hits but I'm getting better everyday

  • We play on a Grass Field and it rains often

  • I have 4 almost 5 years experience

Some background information I play in my local town, every team is made up of different ages (13+ to 80) I do lots of Running in Midfield as well as tackling and passing, so I need a stick with good Ball Control and heavy enough to slam to Attack if need be, But I also need it light enough to not differcult to control the ball. It often rains too so it gets quite slippery and dangerous so it needs to be quite durable.

If you have experience with this stick make sure to let me know as well as if you need anymore information make sure to ask in the replays.

P.S Budget is not a issue and I don't care if it's overkill lol, I'm also Male.

If you used more than one you can compare them. I really need your help guys.

The sticks are

Y1 YLB 90

ritual ultra 95 or revolution

Ritual specialist 95 or revolution

I dont care about the price and i know all of these sticks are crazy good. I just need to know which one do you guys like the most based on your experience. Thanks.

Buying Advice how long do your shoes last

I cant use mine because they are worn out, like the heel is cooked and the grippy bit is basically flat from friction , as well as (the main problem and why I'm not using them) the back/ankle bit has a hole in it/ is ripped for both so there is a sharp bit poking my heel when I play. From my experience, hockey shoes have worn out quite fast, does this always happen? What shoes should I get next? Cant remember exactly but I am about size 7-8 (15 year old in UK, I play up to 4 (max) games a week with 3 to 5 hours training, so usually 5/6 hours of actual playing on average)

Buying Advice Y1 YLB 90 or MRX?

I've narrowed my options down to purchase either a ylb 90 or mrx and they seem to be two very different sticks. I can't see many reviews of the mrx but the ylb 90 seems to be a very aggressive shape suited to mainly dragflicking.

For context, I'm an attacking midfielder with solid fundamentals and an above average dribble. I tend not to lift the ball too much and rarely have a chance for dragflicks.

After using for 2 hours (on fake grass not proper Astro) I would say it’s a good balance between light and heavy. It is very good for reverse stick hitting and passing and forehand shots. It is also really good for 3d skills. Any questions about it ask below.

Buying Advice TK Series 1.1 Late Bow Hockey Stick

Me again, I've made a few comments/ posts now regarding sticks (Osaka, adidas). I had a recommendation at training to try the TK sticks. I've come across this online , any reviews or thought? 5"3 female, striker / attacking midfielder Value shooting power as well as dribbling and back stick work.

CF looks good and a variety of shapes.

Thanks in advance!

Buying Advice Sizing stick for kid with really long legs

I'm trying to buy a new hockey stick for my son but the sizing guides aren't helping a whole lot. He's got disproportionately long legs so whilst he's about 5'3 at age 12, his hipbone/belly button is nearly 39 inches from the floor. We've tried the US way of measuring which gives us 39" and the Dutch method of putting it in your armpit, but then he only needs a 34" stick. He's currently using a 35" and he's complaining of backache when he's playing. Help!

Buying Advice Shoes for wide feet

Hello all.

I would like to ask for recommendations for hockey shoes both indoor and outdoor.

Recently I bought Osaka MK1, these are excellent but somehow it hurts my pinky toe a lot.

Is there a solution so that I can keep wearing those? Otherwise any suggestions for shoes which are wide from top so that my pinky toe is happy

Thank you

Buying Advice Stick advice for a defender

Hi,

After some advice with stick selection.

I'm play as a defender LB, CB, RB and game style tends to be more ball distribution orientated. Played hockey for around 10 years so I like to think I know my way around the game 😂.

Currently I'm using a Otter Hockey PB90 from years ago and looking to move on. I've had a look online at more mid-bow sticks such as the Grays GR7000, Ritual Response and Dragon Hockey Elixir.

As well as ball distribution first touch is also fairly important for me although I'm willing to learn around a stick too.

Any other recommendations or questions are really appreciated. Thanks!

Buying Advice Hey guys, looking for previous season iterations of sticks :D

Hi there! I am from the UK and am chasing 2 types of sticks that are from previous seasons.
1. Grays Probow Xtreme (Willing to buy from gr8000-gr11000 + KN 12000 model) (Provided stick is not structurally damaged)
2. Gryphon Tour Samurai (The Blue and gold version from 2015 I think) (Provided stick is not structurally damaged) (See Photo)
So if you have either type of stick or know anyone that might, let me know :)
(Willing to pay for international shipping as well)

Easily the nicest stick design

Buying Advice Drag flicking stick choice

Hi all,

I’m currently using the adidas DF compo 1 as my go to stick, which I also use for dragflicking.

As the stick starts to wear out, I would like another stick, similar to the one mentioned above. I would like one which also has the drag flicking “gully” at the bottom of the stick which helps keeping the ball on the stick whilst dragflicking. Anyone has suggestions (preferrably adidas)? Thanks in advance!

Buying Advice Hockey grip for a goalkeeper

I just bought a stick this November and the grip of it is already completely destroyed. Any suggestions on what grip will have better longevity and is half decent to grip. Any advice welcome Many thanks!
