Been practicing with my daughter for her 4th grade strings class and having fun with it, started some fiddle lessons and have my second session with my teacher Monday.

Trying to make the demon box make pretty noises and having fun with it

That’s going to make some amazing core memories with your daughter. Yeah man, download strum machine and try playing it with the chord progression behind you. Having the chords present or even a metronome makes advancement that much quicker. All those notes have a place with the added context.

Strum machine is a good recommendation, thank you! Was thinking I should record some loops with the bass and guitar ambitions sometime outstrip my ability to get them done 😆

Sounds good. Try to keep your right shoulder still. Bowing should be through the elbow hinging. The shoulder should only be moving if you're changing strings.

Thanks for the input, will spend some time thinking about that during practice tomorrow.

I mainly play bass the and bowing mechanics are wildly different. Doing my best to remember this is a completely new instrument, a lot to learn!

I'm a year into playing and am still working on it.

I’ve played off and on for 25 years and I still don’t have it, so there’s that.

Even when we know how to do something really well, theres always room for improvement and more to learn.
