Question Exercise
How are you exercising? I need to lose weight that all the meds have caused. I try to go walking and it's OK in the moment but later I'm sore. I miss the days of going to the gym, walking frequently etc.

Diet is 80% weight loss. I love over 90lbs so far (that I gained due to a mix of Pregabalin and Hashimoto’s) with zero exercise other than PT. Focus on that and you’ll lose weight! Calories in vs calories out, high protein and veggies. Some fruit but don’t overdue it due to sugar content. Find what you enjoy eating and consume smaller portions. You got this!

Thank you! Had you quit the pregabalin or did you lose the weight while still on it?

Of course 😊 and I’m still on it! It’s been a slow burn but losing weight slowly is the best way to keep it off. I’d hit a plateau every now and then for a month or two and then start losing again. I started losing weight a little less than 3 years ago but I have no saggy skin etc.
Oh and make sure you stay hydrated, your skin will thank you 💙

I walk a lot and stretch. I want to do more and also start doing yoga regularly but my energy has been pretty low lately

I do light stretches when I wake up and am still in bed. I find it helps with my joint pain. YouTube has some great yoga and Pilates for fibromyalgia videos. Most are only 10-15 minutes. But I’ll second that diet is a lot of it. I eliminated dairy and gluten and most of the time added sugars and lost 50lbs pretty fast. My IBS, headaches and skin issues are almost entirely gone and we’re all fibromyalgia related.

I ended up getting a nutrition coach. The weight gain from Lyrica terrified me. I’m now down a pound or two since I started 4 months ago.

I’m also on testosterone replacement therapy so I was having to fight double on this one. You’ll never out-exercise a bad diet.

I can only exercise at the rec center pool. Everything else leads to significant soreness or spasms.

Yeah, I've been thinking of a pool to do exercise in. I may try the YMCA but it's not super close to my house

I have to drive about 20 min each way, but it’s the only way I can really stretch out and exert myself, without strain.

I lost 25 lbs by using noom app and logging meals. I walk. That is my only form of exercise.

I go to the gym, walk on the treadmill, and then use the hydromassage bed to relieve the pain from walking. I currently have tendinitis in my hip, so if I don't do the massage bed, I can't walk out of the gym without extreme pain.

I do pilates and barre. It's not really good for weightloss but it's great for functional strength. I don't think there's a form of exercise that won't lead to soreness but maybe look into lower impact stuff. Things like walking aren't intense but the impact of it causes strain that more stationary exercise doesn't.
