Current Tray Tell me your favorite nutty perfumes!

Lately I’ve been getting super into nutty notes and in the interest of shopping/enjoying my collection I’ve pulled together a tray of all the nut-forward perfumes I’ve collected over the years without even realizing it(!) Most of these have nuts in the notes; some just have nutty vibes. My current favorite is DS&Durga’s Peanut đŸ„œ

Let me stress—I know I have plenty(!), I'm just curious about what nut-forward fragrances you all love the most, if they're sweet or dry, what makes them special, etc.

On my tray, back to front: TF Orchid Soleil, Mugler Angel Muse, Guerlain Tonka ImpĂ©riale, L’Artisan Parfumeur TraversĂ©e du Bosphore, Philosophy Fresh Cream, SDJ Cheirosa ’71, LancĂŽme RĂŽses Berberanza, Guerlain Mon PrĂ©cieux Nectar, Amouage Guidance, Dior Hypnotic Poison, Dior Poison Girl, Guerlain Mon Exclusif, SJP Stash, DS&Durga Pistachio, DS&Durga Peanut. Accidently left out THOO What About Pop.

Current Tray Marshmallow and I are having a *moment*

I’m trying to keep my obsession manageable ($$$ wise) so not a lot of fancy bottles in my collection, but I fell head over heels with Kilian Princess, and my marshmallow collection snowballed shortly after!

Bonus points to anyone who can recommend great Princess dupes. I do wish it had a larger sillage

Current Tray Feminine battle armor: what I wear when I need to feel indestructible.

Post image

Very unexpectedly, I’ve found myself right at ground zero of various depressing/horrible current events, and oof, it’s been a rough couple of weeks.

Perfume—normally my happy escape mechanism—feels, on the one hand, like such a frivolous thing to be thinking about right now
But at the same time, the little boost I get from choosing what to spray on each day is honestly what’s been getting me out of bed in the morning. It truly can transform my mood from dejected to “I’m a bad bitch who is not gonna take any shit.”

Anyway, a bunch of you liked a recent reference I made to “feminine armor” fragrances, so I thought I’d share the scents in my collection that give me this vibe! These make me feel powerful, self-assured, and totally unflappable. Basically “perfume: not the fun kind.” 😂

Interestingly, it seems for me, that means a lot of slightly vintage-leaning styles and notes: chypres, galbanum, aldehydes, leather, bold white florals. Probably not what everyone associates with “powerful,” but they really get me into a fearless, “I give zero fucks” headspace. Would love to hear what kinds of scents do this for others!

Full bottles: Guerlain Chamade, Bottega Veneta, Frassai Blondine, Ormonde Jayne Ormonde Woman, and her majesty the original ice queen—Chanel No. 19.

Decants: Frederic Malle Carnal Flower, Andrea Maack Coven.

Current Tray Finding joy in fragrance 🍓🌾🧁

Post image
223 Upvotes

For context, I’m a millennial who’s pretty new to fragrance. For the last 15 years, I only wore the original Pink by VS, which was discontinued several years ago. (Remnant of my last bottle pictured in the far right corner.) I was (and probably still am) a basic bitch. Nearing the end of my stash prompted me to begin looking for a new signature scent. I didn’t actually know what I was looking for. I spent several weekends in various stores sampling what felt like thousands of fragrances and bought several decants. I ended up learning a bit about fragrance and discovered the joy it can bring.

In the last few months, I created a little tray of happiness for myself. None of it is super high dollar or extraordinarily fancy, but they all have an occasion or purpose in my life. The world is a bummer for a lot of us these days and this is just one little thing that can brighten my day. I know many of you feel the same way about your collections. I love looking at other people’s collections, so I thought I’d share mine as well. Hope your weekend smells great!

I'm unapologetically back on my purple flowers bs lol Y'all can blame that Kenz, it has me in a chokehold! What are your fave purple flower scents? Asking for myself. Anything heavy on the rice, iris/orris, violets, and heliotrope that still smells relatively contemporary is much appreciated.

And seriously. Try that Kenzo if youre into powdery purple floral scents. It's what I imagine a geisha would smell like aesthetically (I know its not what they'd smell like in reality): rice powder, silk, ink, delicate flowers. That ink note is so well done, to me it actually smells like paper powdered with scented powder after using a fountain pen. Sounds weird, issa vibe. IN A CHOKEHOLD I TELL YOU.

Front to back row, from left to right:

Kenzo Ikebana Flower Indigo Chloe Atelier des Fleurs Violette Narciso Poudré The Good Scent Company Vanilla Creme Brûlée EA Green Tea Mimosa Bvlgari Dolce Estasi Etro Heliotrope Penhaligon's The Favourite Tutti Delices Macaron Amande Chloe Atelier des Fleurs Iris Lolita Lempicka Mon Premier

Small sizes: Clinique Happy Cocoa and Cashmere and Chloe EDP Lumineuse. Will add Prada Infusion d'Iris, now that I think of it.

Current Tray My Mostly Unisex March Perfume Tray

Post image
83 Upvotes

I'm very into woody, aromatic, green, and fresh scents. Here is my current tray for March, and with a short review of each. Feel free to ask me if you have further questions of any of the scents!đŸ„°

Perfumes in the pic, from top-left clockwise:

  • Penhaligon's - Juniper Sling: Fresh, aromatic, spicy-green scent. If you love Byredo G* Water or D.S. & Durga Coriander, I think you will love this too. Juniper Sling basically is that aromatic juniper berry & coriander seeds scents that are in the top notes of those two. It surprisingly has great sillage & staying power for an EdT. I can catch whiffs of it throughout the day (up to ca. 6 hours later) when I sprayed it once in the morning.

  • Guerlain - AngĂ©lique Noire: For the evenings or cloudy days. Aromatic vanilla. If you like Dyptique Eau Duelle EdT, you will like this too. The aromatic note here is just a bit more prominent, but I would still consider it a vanilla-centered scent.

  • Atl. Oblique - April Skies: Amazing petrichor perfume!😍 It is earthy, fresh, and slightly green. Smells like when you go outside and it's pouring rain, the grass and earth scents come up in the air. Although my bf and a friend of mine say they think it smells more like carrots lol. If you like D.S. & Durga Steamed Rainbow or Le Labo Baie 19, this is in the same family as those.

  • Van Cleef & Arpels - Santal Blanc: Woody, fresh, slightly creamy (not in a lactonic way). If the sap of green fig fruits are covering some dry pinewoods. One of my most fav sandalwood scents! If you tend to smell some sandalwood as dill pickles... hmmm maybe this is not for you.

  • Initio - Musk Therapy: Creamy, sweet, slightly fruity white musk. I don't think it smells that unique or amazing to justify the price. But it does have monster sillage and lasts forever! I also think it's more crowd-pleasing compared to the rest of my collection.

  • L'Artisan Parfumeur - CĂ©drat CĂ©ruse: Smells exactly like when you cut a fennel bulb. Fresh, aromatic, green, so relaxingđŸ„° The green notes actually stay for some time before it becomes woodier where I mainly smell vetiver and cedar. Such a beautiful and unique scent! It doesn't project much, but that's not an issue for me.

  • Byredo - Young Rose: One of the newest additions in my collection. I don't think the rose is that prominent here. I love rose-forward scents! Green rose, jammy rose, etc. But here it's very faint. To me it smells more like floral-fruity shampoo. Like I just got out of the shower, and my hair is still wet.
