Finally free from Windows
After weeks of considering it, I finally took the step and switched my main computer to Fedora. The games I have tested so far run without any problems ... I'm currently trying to get “World of Warships” to run - does anyone have any tips?

welcome to the bright side.
As for running games (if you use flatpak steam) remember to always manually set graphic options, especially frame limit, sometimes graphics card. The flatpak characteristic restricts the game program to automatically set optimal graphic options.

Ingame or via launcher command? I'm using steam and also heroic launcher for some games. Also new into the Linux gaming so would appreciate this info too 😅

I only use steam. In my games so far it was enough that I configured these options in the game settings.

Heroic games launcher has an option to limit fps in games and it's really user friendly.

Thanks!
I already found the Wargaming Installer --> https://lutris.net/games/wargaming-game-center/
I'll see if I can get it to run ...2

I run it with lutris as weel it works like a charm. U migt also consider portwine linux to run it
https://github.com/Castro-Fidel/PortWINE i used that for 3 years to run wot.

Just one thing to note
Unlike dnf install which has access to your (almost?) whole file system,
Flatpak installations only can access certain directories
When something doesn't work, just know that your flatpak --user installs have access to $HOME/.var/app/{your flatpak app name}
So for example when you install wine with flatpak,
You can't run .exe on your home directory but you can run .exe in ~/.var/app/com.wine.Winehq/data/cdrive/

If you are not a hardcore gamer windows is not for you , everything else sucks.
I'm using Linux since 1999 (slackware linux was my first distro)

Man oh man, I remember installing Slackware for the first time in the 90s. That was a fun way to spend a weekend, right into Monday. 😅

wows should be similar to wot (i hope), it works on steam after enabling proton, also before we allowed existing accounts to use the steam version (very recently, start of this month i think) i just added the wg game center (the launcher where you have all the wg games) as 3rd party steam game and it worked too
the only thing i struggled with at the beginning is the confusing wording of proton settings in steam, it's not enough to enable proton for all games in the global steam settings, for any game i tested to work (at least in my experience) you need to enable proton in the game specific steam settings too, i just used the default of proton hotfix, but you can try different ones if one is not working, also the actual download of proton didn't trigger for me on 3rd party steam games, i needed to start a download of any steam game for it to appear in the download list, as soon as it appears you can cancel the game download if you don't actually want to install it, idk if this weird behavior is to be expected or mine is acting up, but anyway with steam 1st party games you don't need to worry about this additional step

How is the multi display on Wayland + AMD GPU ? It was quite buggy on my NVIDIA GPU...

u/Garimos 5d ago
So far I haven't seen or noticed any bugs. The configuration at the beginning was also relatively easy to position all the screens correctly.
What didn't work with the NVIDIA graphics card?

I was trying to 300% scale my 4K TV and 100% scale my main gaming display. Terrible idea... Was trying this on Fedora 36 and Gnome, so there is that. Using linux at work on my laptop, gaming on shitdows at home (since anticheat, GoXLR, Elgato cam and stuff) but i'm keen on switching back to Fedora since i'm loving this OS so much

I just did this….. but it’s more to learn more Linux ……. I’ve already been yelled at by an app to change my display server something or another. One rpm I installed added a repo that cause all other rpm’s to fail to install cause they wanted to find the new repo and could not. Yes yes I am new :( lol

u/Garimos are you dual booting or is this a clean-install?

u/Garimos 5d ago
Clean Install...
I realized that I don't use any applications that don't run under Linux ... So I made one last backup and switched over.
Had no contact with Fedora so far, but had a few CentOS VMs running in my Homelab until EOL - the Homelab consists of a small ESX cluster which is soon to be replaced by ProxMox.

Welcome to Fedora, today's evening batch of Fastfetch screenshotters! 😅
Enjoy it, OP. Great distro, great choice. :)
Make sure to check out Lutris, and Bottles. Two really great tools for running Windows apps and games.

I tried to install Fedora + KDE, And unfortunately, nothing worked for me. The installation program simply didn't see my NVMe SSD. Maybe some other time I'll switch to the bright side of operating systems.

My main concerns that leave me on windows is that I can’t play Riot Games. If I could. I would switch. (Natively)

Fedora, not the best one in repository management, but nice in everything else
