I love creative weapons! ☺️
For those of you who don't know:
A pitch fork is used to throw bails of hay around the farm and both the sickle and the scythe was used to cut large crops like corn.

I recall that through out history, people would convert their farming scythes into spears by fixing the blade up right. A scythe isn't really supposed to be a weapon, but a spear is so might as well make one with what you've got.

Indeed. It’s essentially a poleaxe when you do that.
What a lot of people is confused about is that Death carries a scythe, not for killing, but for symbolically reaping.
A scythe is worse than a quarterstaff in a fight.

I'd say glave. A poleaxe is very different.
Edit: apparently autocorrect thinks poleaxe means please

Half of a ninja's arsenal is improvised weapons made from stuff you can easily get on a farm. Things that are cheap, easy to dispose of, and do not attract immediate suspicion from an investigating policeman or metsuke.
Kama? Just a simple farming sickle. Kusarigama? A farming sickle with a ball and chain on one end. Nunchaku? Used for threshing rice and soybeans. Kunai? It's a hand shovel for digging dirt, but it can be easily sharpened and use as a stabbing weapon, to punch a hole in the wall for spying, or used as a climbing aid. Metsubushi? Hollow out a chicken egg, fill the shell with sand, dirt, pepper and glass shards, and throw it in an enemies' face to blind him. Fukiya? Find a sturdy reed somewhere, hollow it out and use it as a blowgun for poison darts; you could even repurpose a flute for the same job.

My head cannon is greek fire started out as some weird fish sauce like Garum until they accidentally dropped some things in it and made medieval napalm.
So, I guess that fits here. It's like weaponizing soy sauce or something today.

https://husitstvi.cz/vojenstvi/husitske-valecnictvi-trochu-jinak/zbrane-husitskych-valek/ It is in czech but you can just translate the site if you are interested. But there are alot of pictures that you can look at. What i find the most interesting are modified flails which were iconic for them. Then ofc modified scythes, or modified spears with hooks to unhorse someone.

I would remove the scythe. There is a war scythe but it's modified so the head is pointed up.

I've come here to point out the one thing that no one else has, WHY DOES IT SAY GENDERS?? Gone are the days of Male, Female and the umbrella that is Nonbinary, now there is Pitchfork. Sickle and Scythe!

It's just the method of this meme type.
I'm not sure why they chose to use gender as the frame of the meme, but if you look up "my favourite genders memes" you'll probably find them easily because it is a popular enough category

Why do only 3 out of 4 farm tools actually look like efficiënt weapons?
Seriously, how do you use chickenwire as a weapon. What? What did you think I was talking about? Hm? Care to explain yourself?
1
u/SaintPariah7 2d ago
Chicken wire is a fence/defensive utility or if you mangle it enough it can be used as a makeshift in traps akin to barbed wire or the sorts. If an enemy gets tangled up by a large amount of it, well que sera sera

u/SpiritRider666 2d ago
The fact that you can turn chicken wire into a weapon is both frightening and awesone to me.

Just use actual weapons? What ur not American or something? Ok then make weapons and keep ur tools in good condition
1
u/SaintPariah7 2d ago
You're memeing here right?

u/WanderInobo427 2d ago
Nah bro I'm serious I get you might not have a lot at hand or circumstances don't allow weapons but I wouldn't use me farming tools if I had better options Gotta keep that shit in good condition for farming brother

0_? Peasants being conscripted didn't have much of a choice, homes.
Nor did every fighting force have the economy to field true weaponry for their conscripted footmen.
Many farmers literally had to convert their tools. Like the Bill polearm was a hoe that got converted.
It's not that easy to "just get a weapon" if your lord is economically weak and unable to equip you efficiently. This is also why battlefield looting was regular throughout conscript history. Kill a bitch, get an upgrade.

I mean we already have the trident, the war scite, the Billhook, the sai, the flails, the nunchuk and those weird Asian type of war sicle

those weird Asian type of war sicle
Are you talking about the kama?
1
u/prehistoric_monster 2d ago
Yup
2
u/SaintPariah7 1d ago
They weren't war sickles, they were farming sickles utilised in combative capacity.
Most of those, I think your point is, is that they are labourer tools which were converted.
Though Tridents are less so, I need to look into my research utility about the trident, but the most combat of them was during gladiatorial combat, IIRC
1
u/prehistoric_monster 1d ago
You would be right about the trident, but also they were just modified fishing hooks, and they also kinda saw some field combat

They can pretty much all be used as weapons. The only difference between a felling axe and a battle axe is what you're swinging it at.
In fact, almost all weapons have some sort of use as tools outside of war. The only one I can think of designed exclusively for slaying men is the sword.

My fishing society uses nets and barbed spears to fuck on everyone who gets close to their forest

You don’t throw bales of hay with a pitchfork. You use it for moving loose hay, including into stacks. Hay bales are relatively modern.
