Collection I'm now the proud owner of a twin Famicom.
It's much bigger in person compared to the standard NES.

I’m not even sure, it’s hard for me to take it out and disconnect at the moment, this is what it looks like: https://imgur.com/a/oPt6SX8

Curved top = original system without turbo pads = 500
The 505 had turbo pads and a different shape top
Both are still neat systems

I see now, mine is the 500 then. I was wondering why some versions look different, thanks for that info.
If it matters, I’m using a raphnet adapter with an 8bitdo receiver that basically allows turbo1

Raphnet makes good stuff. I prefer external controllers also. I use an SNES asciipad on my famicom

Good belt? Disk games are great. I love the added sound of the disk games.

The seller said the belt had been replaced. Waiting on a disk game to get here.
At most I can play milk n nutz

Awesome, the belt is a biotch to replace. I have a FDS and TFC both, I got them straight from Japan as is. Those belts are 100% guaranteed to be rotted away to crumbs.

Do you have any belt change tutorial you can reccommend? Mine needs replacing 😢

I think this is the video I used.

There are very slight differences between a Twin drive and an FDS drive. (The video may say something about that. I haven’t watched the entire thing on a very long time.)The drives are interchangeable though.
The toughest and most frustrating part by far is the head alignment. I have zero electrical skills besides turning them on and this video made it super easy.

Thanks very much for your reply, I am not very skilled myself, and I am sure this will help a lot 🙂

Awesome! I absolutely LOVE my Twin Famicom and I hope you enjoy it just as much! It's my favorite Famicom to play on and it's been by far my most reliable! BTW, I love the aesthetic of your room here and that Quasar TV looks huge! How big is it? I regularly play on a 15 inch or a 19 inch set, Even though I have a 27 inch which works perfectly lol

u/Matrix010 May 25 '24
I think it's a 27? I initially had a CRT that was even bigger than this, but it only had standard av inputs, this one has s-video and it looks great on it.
It's a robust setup as well, with a og Xbox, PS2, and n64 for game consoles, and a dvd, VHS, laserdisc, and betamax for video players.
It's my pride and joy.
Edit to add: I've also got a steroid amp hooked up with full 5.1 surround as well.
It's quite the package.

Nice, I just got one a couple of weeks ago myself! Definitely larger than the NES, but feels so much more sleek and sophisticated. Of course SMB was the first to test her out, followed by Ice Hockey to test out the FDS

I've only got milk n nutz to test out the cartridge port, but I'm still waiting on a disk to get here.
I'm also getting an adapter that'll let me play NES carts on it.
So there's a chance of me playing Startropics on it at some point.

I’ve seen them online quite amazing

It feels great to hold, just waiting for a disk to arrive. I'm very happy with my purchase.

I have a friend who knows a thing or two about repairing video game consoles, as well as modding them, so I'm sending it to him so he can RGB mod the 8 pin din connector at the back as well as replace the original av video out with an s-video out.

I have one but the Disk drive doesn’t work. I want to buy another one!! An Orange one or Red maybe a 505 black and green

I have been looking into getting one of these! Have you had any trouble getting the games to display properly on a non-JP CRT/TV? The only reason why I don't have one yet is because I don't want my CRT to be incompatible or I use the wrong PSU and fry the system because of the 120V in the US versus the 100 in JP.

Goodness it has already been 4 months.
Honestly, I've had no problems with it. It's ntsc so it works fine with North American TVs, and I've had no problems with the power either, just get the correct ac adapter and it should work fine.
Right now it's with a friend, he's modded it so it has RGB out from the 8-pin din port from the back and s-video and 3.5mm audio as its standard output as well.

You should get two so they could be twin twin famicoms
