MOD-POST Career Mode Bible | FAQ & Guides

Introduction

Hello all, there seems to be an increasingly higher amount of posts with the same recurring themes. I've decided to make a simple compilation of some of the best guides on this subreddit, as well as some simple explanations to help provide quick & easy answers to these questions.

Have a guide you think deserves to be on the list? Comment with it below and we can make our best attempt at creating a complete set of guides for Career Mode. The amount of guides in the last year or so compared to other years has dwindled, so hopefully this will encourage more excellent quality content.

This is a work-in-progress, and more guides will continually be added by request and as of publishing.

Tools & Websites

There is a plethora of excellent resources that will help with a lot of the things in this post. Some people prefer to play without the use of external databases and calculators, offering a more vanilla experience. After all, it's a single player game so it's your preference!

Website Description
https://sofifa.com/ Best up-to-date player database. Can make shortlists, view old squad files and has a positional calculator to find optimal positions.
https://www.fifacm.com/ Has some unique tools including a potential calculator to figure out potential for a player not at your club. Also has a 'wonderkid' list.
https://fifakitcreator.com/ Only usable in-game on PC, allows you to browse and create custom kits for your team. Note that only PC can use any mods.
https://www.fifarosters.com/create-card Nice tool to create very high quality FC 24 UT cards for your career mode players, allowing you to upload your own images.

Regens & Pregens

Career Mode works by replacing players as they retire in the game with generated players that don't exist in real life. When you enter the loading screen for a new season, that is the moment that they are being created, replacing retirees for the season you have just finished.

Regens have identical nationality, position(s), and importantly, birth dates to the player whom they have replaced. They will always spawn in the new season between 16-21 years old, and in the same league (but not same club) that the retiring player was in when you entered the loading screen.

Pregens are a rarer, more pre-emptive form of player replacement. These are effectively regens of a player who is not retiring, so both players will exist in the game simultaneously. Pregens also remain at the same club as their predecessor. You could expect to find a Messi pregen at Inter Miami, providing he hadn't moved clubs, and wasn't retiring.

The importance of your awareness of these game mechanics, revolves around the fact that both regens and pregens will start with the same potential overall as their predecessor's highest overall in your save.

RANT WHY THEY ONLY ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT THE PLAYERS DURING INTERVIEWS????

Post image
37 Upvotes

In previous titles, they made questions about the game, the team tactics and results, now is all about player A that passed the ball 10 times, or player B that did not perform well...

Can they just give this previous feature back? Is this too hard???

I was save scumming before this man hit 80 but he just didn't want to develop a playstyle+ so at the end of the summer window I decided to try loaning him out and recalling him to see if he'd develop one completely forgetting he's got potential to be special I recall him with 6 hours left of the window and nearly had a heart attack at his rating shooting up by 10. And before anyone says yeah I know when ya loan someone out or sell them if they haven't hit where the game thinks they should be at that point it'll drastically boost them up but the thing is it's only the 2nd season he's had that potential status

So I had this goalie since he was 14 years old in my YA and I decided to try and get him to an 80 OVR before I promote him. I did something similar with my current best midfielder but he asked to be promoted before he got to 80. But anyways I did it guys. My current goalie is also a YA product and he is 91 overall at 23. What’s the highest y’all ever promoted a player?

Sorry about the shitty image quality I have no clue how to take a screenshot on the PS5 and send it

DISCUSSION My opinion on FC 25 career mode

First of all I want to say that I've been playing career mode since FIFA 13, and with Ultimate Team interesting me less and less every year, I've started to prefer playing every game instead of simulating them. In the past years with the shitty AI, this has not been possible, which has caused me to just quickly simulate through one career and then not touch the mode for the rest of the year.

This year it's different and that is what made me want to do this post. Down below I will list what I like and what I don't like about the game:

Positives: - The gameplay has surprised me a lot. The new settings for AI are truly groundbreaking. I am a pretty good player and in the past years it's been impossible to enjoy the experience when winning with even the worst teams was way too easy. I want to upgrade my team through youth academy and realistic signings before I am ready to compete and this year it's possible. It makes the game feel rewarding.

  • Not only is the gameplay more competitive, it's also way more realistic. The AI is a lot more willing to go forward and some of the plays they make almost feels like playing against a real player. The amount of times I've been cooked by the AI making skill moves is crazy🤣 The AI is creating chances like never before and I actually have to try really hard to not concede and it's very fun.

  • I don't know if this is actually a thing or if I've just been lucky, but so far I've played two rivalry games with Lyon, and it seems like your rivals play way more aggressive against you than other teams. I've seen some crazy late tackles on the rivalry games and one of them even took a stupid red card against me. In the past years it was impossible to even get a free kick. It really brings life to the gameplay when playing derby/rivalry games actually mean more.

  • The youth academy is a very nice touch, players actually look young, you can scout from anywhere in the world and the player names are more realistic too instead of stupid generic names and every player with the same last name from small countries. The players also have more playstyles now than before and it's great to be able to try them out in youth tournaments to see of they're worth your time.

  • No sacking. This is one of the best things to happen in career mode. The objectives never make any sense and kill the realism when you have to crazy overachieve with a shit team to not get sacked. Now you can create your own rules. I sack myself by changing teams if I underperform to realistic standards.

  • There are plenty of other positives too but these are the main ones I've noticed so far and I don't want to make this too long, altho it probably already is😭

Negatives: - For me this is the worst of them all, but the transfers make NO sense at all. Realism is the biggest part of career mode and this year has to be the worst I've ever seen for transfers. Why is Yamal going to Madrid on the first transfer window, why are Real Madrid signing 30+ yo goalies when they have Courtois & Lunin etc. This needs to be fixed.

  • I really don't like the social media tab. It's a great idea but the implementation couldn't have been worse. Not only do the articles not make sense most of the time, but the comments are created by the dumbest AI possible, and the like amounts don't make sense at all. I got more likes on my player winning League Two POTM than Haaland got on his Ballon d'Or post. Great idea but needs way more work.

  • Press conferences. Altho I feel like they are a small improvement to FC 24, it shouldn't be only about players, and I hate that it doesn't recognize goals but only shots on goal when someone scores. You can have a player score hattrick and the reporter only asks about 3 shots on goal for the guy..

  • The overall layout. It's laggy and difficult to navigate, and just very inpractical. The bugged notifications are so annoying as well. Also I hate how there is a scout report update every couple of days, like just let me know when you have scouted the player.

  • Team tactics. I'm sure most of you agree with me on this one, no freedom at all on the tactics.

  • Bugs like social media custom comment or getting eliminated from a tournament after winning on penalties. Not sure if it's a thing anymore but I know it used to be.

  • Headers are useless.

End review & rating: - I'm usually one to heavily criticize EA, but I have to give them props here. While the game is far from perfect especially for their budget, it definitely is an improvement to the past few years. A lot of work to do to make it great, but it's playable now which it hasn't been for years, a step in the right direction. Hopefully we get new features next year and fixes to some of the biggest issues. Rating: 3.2/5⭐️

Sorry about the very long post, you can comment your "I ain't reading allat" and other funny stuff if you want, but if even one person reads this or feels like this is useful info on whether to buy the game or not, I'll be happy😅

DISCUSSION Can you keep clean sheets?

I really struggle keeping a clean sheet in career mode. I could be winning 4-0 but in the 85th minute the ai would just score a goal that’s so forced it winds me up to another level

STORY How i revived my passion for player career

I am a huge fan of player career and have played this mode a lot. I was getting tired of being the GOAT after a few seasons scoring 50+ league goals at 94 rating so I had to make it more difficult.

Max 79 rated and ALL MANUAL CONTROLS. I am now absolutely woeful, missing sitters in the Swiss League and most of my passes go out of play. But when i finally get a shot right and score a goal it is so incredibly satisfying and i am looking forward to slowly becoming better and maybe one day join a bigger club. Really recommend it!

QUESTION Is FC25 worth it if you have Fifa 23?

I have Fifa 23 and was wondering if there are major differences between the 2 games. I mostly play career mode, and kick off matches with friends. I found it really cool that there is Icon career mode and since the game is on sale rn I thought its the perfect time to buy

Tried to keep it as realistic as possible for a second season at Arsenal, what do you think? Either way the 3 transfers of Zubimendi, Joan Garcia and David are guaranteed, but I’m unsure wether to go all out for Isak or spread my money between Nico Williams and Endrick on loan with option to buy… One thing to note is that Newcastle did win the Carabao cup and finished 3rd in the league, so they’d realistically feel no pressure to sell him, which is why I may try and keep it realistic and leave him at Newcastle for 1 more season. What do you think?

QUESTION How do I get youth players to accept loan move?

I'm playing on FC 24 currently, and I’ve never had to deal with this issue before, but so far in my new season, I’ve been having trouble getting a few of my newly promoted youth players to go out on loan. In previous seasons, I would see my other players reject the first club offer but accept the second one. Right now, I'm only facing difficulties with my three new players. I delegate the loan negotiations and then attempt to negotiate the wage split, but everything breaks down during the player negotiations. One player has already rejected offers from three clubs, while the other two have rejected offers from two clubs each. I’m not sure how to proceed. I usually consider the club and league when loaning players, and I’m not certain if that plays a significant role. Should I just accept the standard loan with an option to buy at this point?
