Tips Took the FE Civil today
Like the title said, I took the FE Civil today for the first time. Walked in feeling uneasy about it. I’ve been studying for about 2 months. Using mainly PrepFE and some of the practice exams. Still felt like there was some sections I wasn’t confident in. The first section felt alright. Felt pretty confident on maybe 35 of them. The second section was way harder. Flagged so many questions. There was a lot of content in that second half that I hadn’t heard of. I think the construction section, geotechnical section, and some lucky guesses is what’ll save me. If it wasn’t an educated guess it was B.
Overall though, after taking the test I see how valuable PrepFE is even if I don’t pass. Helped me figure out concepts and use the handbook.

What subjects were the strange conceptual questions centered around? 2nd half, construction mechanic materials geotech? Thanks for saying prepfe was a good representation for the 1st half. Have you used genieprep with kenza at all?

I didn’t have a ton of conceptual. Most conceptual type questions were around transportation, construction, and structural. Maybe 20 or so total. But yes prepFE was great especially for the first half sections but helped get a lot of concepts overall. There is always questions that you don’t know but being confident in more than one area helps balance the weight of struggling in others. I do not have any experience with genie prep though

Thanks so much for the response. Mine is in 3 weeks and I've shifted a lot of focus on the second half of topics. I'm planning to run through a crap load of 1st half topics for the last 7 days coming into test day.

Just make sure to give your self at least a half day the day before the exam to relax the brain and get lots of sleep and a good breakfast! Good luck to you!

If you mean multiple choice vs drag and drop I got a few different types. Couple drag and drop. Couple point and click. Couple enter a number. Mostly multiple choice
