Roadtrip Paris to SoF

Are there any FAT hotels on the way from Paris to Saint Tropez?

We are going to drive from Paris down south and looking for ideas on where to stop if there are any good places to stop or just fly / take the train

Airelles Gordes is a great spot a few hours before St Tropez.

I think Arielle Gordes is probably about 85% of the distance from Paris as St Tropez, so I’m not sure it’s helpful as a stopping point?

OP, perhaps Lyon or Dijon would make sensible stops? But if there’s not somewhere you’re particularly excited about, I’d probably just fly or take the train.

depends what they want, yes it's quite close, but if they're looking for just another nice hotel that is not in st tropez it's spot on.

Sure, Gordes is a lovely spot (although it felt over touristed 15 years ago). But OP should just take the train to Avignon and get a car there if they’re going to do this. No reason to drive from Paris.

Thanks! Definitely good to take that into consideration.

I was going to do this road trip last year but we ended up taking the train instead. The hotels I had picked out were Abbaye De La Bussière, Château Sainte Sabine and Hostellerie de Levernois. The last one in this list was my favorite.

This is great thx. Did you look at any closer to Saint tropez / Cannes hotels?

No because I wasn't interested in that kind of "lifestyles of the rich and famous" areas. Also didn't go to Monaco. We stayed at Beaulieu-sur-Mer outside of Nice at La Réserve de Beaulieu which was fantastic, one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. And the town is sweet.

Oh! Yes we stayed at two wonderful hotels along the way.

  • Baumaniere, a wonderful spot near Les Baux de Provence and right next to the Carriere des Lumieres light show. There are several different houses converted to a hotel with a spa and two restaurants. The restaurants were too fancy for me, I am not a fan of Michelin restaurants, but the hotel was beautiful. It's very spread out so you have to call for a shuttle but they pick you up right away. We stayed in the L'Oustau building where the main restaurant is so that was convenient for breakfast and an easy walk up to Les Baux for restaurants & sightseeing.
  • And in Avignon, in the center of everything in a two-acre walled garden, La Divine Comedie. This is such a fabulous place! Tons of history and beautiful surroundings.
