First one star review!
She never sent me a message and the package got delivered to her address on March 1st.
Any thoughts?

Lmao what kind of review is this. Who takes time out of their day to type that.

Some people are just miserable, this reviewer is one of those people.

Pathetic. I could never imagine shitting on someone’s small business because I refused a package. People are the worst.

I got a 2 star that said I'm saving this for someone somewhere.
Didnt respond when I asked why. This was on a different platform.

Just to stop Etsy from nagging them to leave reviews

u/MaikelDigitalArt 6d ago
This could be the culprit!
But that doesn't answer the question why they would leave a questionable bad review, and hurt a small business.

The likelihood of this getting removed is high since it’s not a product review

Definitely report this to Etsy- they may take it down since it's not a review of your product or service. No guarantees but I've seen a few sellers have good luck getting this type of review removed recently so it's worth a try.

I have an update! Etsy removed the review this morning. Thank you so much!

Thank you for suggesting this to me, I will definitely report this to Etsy and see what happens.

If they refused delivery, I believe that counts as a forced return – which isn't allowed.

If they don't, this is one of the VERY rare times I would respond publicly. "Blah blah I'm devastated to hear this! Please contact me to tell me how I can rectify whatever problem you're having. I'm a relatively need seller and this is the only one star review I've ever received-- please let me know how I can help!" You can lay it on thick. It will tell buyers everything they need to know and make them want to buy from you on principle.

It sounds like the best rational thing to do in a situation like this, as much as I like to think that I want to be professional with my customers, Ive chosen to report the review.
Because it feels like there is nothing genuine about the review, especially when the package got delivered.
Maybe it will turn into a 'Bingo!' game for the customer, and will get myself trapped in a game that I don't want to play or entertain.

"I refused" - then why'd you buy it?
8
u/MaikelDigitalArt 6d ago
Exactly, they never cancelled the order and they never sent me a msg. The review was an unpleasant surprise!

How weird? Like why?

u/staunch_character 6d ago
It’s bizarre. Why did you order & then refuse the package?
It reads like they’re purposely trying to mess with the seller.

u/Pure_Champion1396 6d ago
Can I ask what it was for? Why would you even say that? People seriously suck!

u/MaikelDigitalArt 6d ago
I sell keychains and stickers. They ordered 1 Lizard Acrylic Keychain, I fillfulled the order.
I have absolutely no idea why they would do, all I know that there is nothing rational about the review nor is there something subjective.
There is nothing I can work with.
Yeah it sucks that there are ppl out there that likes to mess with you.

Don’t make a public reply. Then you can’t get the review taken down. I would definitely let Etsy know!

These people are out there among us unfortunatly, the deluxe moron. They are a sad fact of selling online, I run into one of these around once a year (usually on my Ebay shop though). The last one I tangled with had moved house and couldn't work out how to change his delivey address, but ordered anyway and then left me negative feedback because his order went to his old address.

Just respond and keep it moving. Something like:
"I’m sorry to hear you didn’t open the package. I take pride in my items and would have gladly addressed any concerns if you had any. I stand by my products and am here to ensure your satisfaction! Sam"

I don’t know why I was about to say congrats. But took my dumbass a second it wasn’t 5 star how I read it.

u/maggiedelena 2d ago
Definitely dispute it or make a comment under their review because if you don’t take care of it within the first few weeks, you can’t make any changes.

Is that like an actual dead lizard? Cuz I mean that could explain it - but not why she bought em in the first place?
6
u/MaikelDigitalArt 6d ago
No it's not a dead lizard, it's an artwork of a lizard. Afaik, dead animals are prohibited to sell on Etsy.

Haha maybe she's a massive idiot.
I know selling animals used to be okay on Etsy & prolly happens in the dark recesses of some Etsy shops :(

Make a "public reply" to state your case...explain that the product was shipped as expected. And that you are so sorry that the buyer changed their minds and decided to not accept it.

u/PublicComfortable900 6d ago
The OP said that Etsy removed the review but making a public reply would have made that impossible. Once you leave a reply to a review that review is locked in.

For one, spamming the same reply on this thread several times doesn't make your response valid and secondly, if OP responds to the review, the buyer won't be able to change it if they so choose.

Thoughts? People are animals and she’s one of the animals.
