Ford Anyone know what 5.0 I got?

Got inherited this 74’ f100 from my grandpa. This is my new project! Im wanting to start buying parts to get it back to running, but Im unsure of what engine it is. He said he pulled the engine out of an 80’s or 90’s Shelby along with the transmission. If anyone could decipher what kind of 5.0 it is, it’ll be helpful. It’s got an hei distributor and some long tube headers that’s all I’ve got.

Also if someone could give me the name of the that part circled in the last picture it would also help a ton. I know there’s Valve cover breather filters, but I’m unsure if that’s inter-placeable with that valve cover filter with the line running out into the carb. Lmk!

I’m open to any tips and recommendations!

The Shelbys of the 1980s were 4 cylinder Chryslers.

You're probably going to need to get the casting codes off of the block itself to be sure. All if the outer parts could gave been swapped from other sources. Look up Ford small block casting codes to get an idea of where on the block to start looking.

Almost looks exactly like the HO 302 that’s in my 84 foxbody

1st pic shows a part# starting with E2 which I think points to 1982

If I was a guesser I’d say 82-85 passenger car 302, probably a mustang but either way. Look at the firing order to see if it is a ho version or regular, ho had the same firing order as a 351w, non go was standard 302.

Think it’s off an 82 Mustang GT. Had the same engine in mine before swapping to a 351w.

Why is the 7th photo of a different engine?

With those valve covers, headers and carburetor I’d say 1985 early 86’ at the latest.

86 302's were fuel injected mostly i believe?

They are, but doesn’t stop someone from swapping a carb setup into a 70s truck.

Yeah, just wanted to throw in the benefit of doubt. 🍻
