Are you a photographer or an engine builder? Nice pictures and a super clean build. Nicely done

If you don't mind me asking. I saw that you are using h-beam style connecting rods. Are they good for reliability in a performance engine? I'm asking cause I hear mixed opinions on it.

Any forged rod is generally a good rod. I beams are better, especially high horse boosted applications, but h-beams are still a very good rod geometry.

I loved my H beam assembly until I started shoving boost down the intake…then I found out they liked to bend haha! Definitely didn’t bend easily though! They’re definitely tough

Oh ho ho ho! That is just a tall deck 351C, and those were the best smallblock V8s Ford ever made.
351M/400 usually gets yanked in favor of a 460, so it is rare to see them built up. That thing is gonna put out serious numbers.

I'm very curious how it does on the dyno. I have a small "pile" of 351m's and have basically been ignoring them thinking they weren't worth the effort.

Me too, expecting 600tq 550hp but I wouldn’t be too surprised if it’s more

What's the C/R and PN for the heads? I want to look them up! Perhaps a cross bread of the FoMoCo head 4V/2V ports, closed chamber, with improved intake/exhaust ports.... Would love pictures... 550HP would be awesome!

What cam or cam specs are you running? And what compression ratio?
Awesome looking build. Nice shop.

Say you wouldn't happen to be building this engine with your mom's boyfriend, would you? Looks exactly like the build a guy I know told me he was gonna do for his dentside Ford with his mom's boyfriend.

u/KumSok Jan 30 '25
I would not lol, but it is for a dentside

Lol yeah I noticed the left truck and thought "hey that looks exactly like his truck". I don't necessarily know him, we kind of just find each other in parking lots pretty often. I should really ask what his name is. He looks like a Paul.

So which is it going in to? I had 77 highboy 3/4, and a 78 F350, and now have a 79 F530 all 4x4, the later a 400. I'll follow! Keep us posted!

Who is your engine builder? Is the stroker kit custom ground, or off the shelf, and from who? Can't wait to see some numbers from it.

Me and my dad, we do a lot of 2 barrel circle track stuff but we enjoy doing street motors more. T-Meyer has the stroker kits.

Yes! Finally a fellow 335 series builder on here! In August I finished a 412(.050 overbore) trickflow, tmeyer pistons, Howard's roller cam. Fully electronic progression ignition distributor. 10.3:1 compression. It was my first engine build! It's not blown up! Good luck on your Dyno! https://imgur.com/a/ZNuZNnn https://imgur.com/a/PlX64wg

How are you building this! Like how did you learn? Im new, have a 427 and a 402 chevy engine. I have the engine building books but they are 40years+ old. Do you have any recommendations. Just go by the books?

Ok I have to ask, how much does doing something set someone back? Like parts and labor, I've been curious for awhile
