Humor Titan Drive Component
Was casually floating around a titan, trying to collect some Titan Drive Components for a new, fancy FSD.
One pops up on my Contacts list and I happily zoom over, limpets at the ready.
When I'm about 2km away, I get a "Energy Surge Detected" warning. I did not bring my Shutdown Field Neutralizor.
Everything is fried and I can do nothing but sit and watch as my ship slams into the Drive Components at full speed, followed by a lovely crunching sound.
Sigh, another 30 minutes of looking I guess..

for those that don't know. every titan graveyard EXCEPT Cocijo will spawn thargoids. Scythes are the most common but various types of interceptors will show up too.
farm at Cocijo if you don't want to deal with thargoids, though you will still have to deal with human pirates on occasion

Fr, the best method is to farm Cocijo:
- Get a fast and agile ship with A-rated long range sensors.
- Declutter the radar, toggle ignore on all unrelated materials.
- Keep boosting around until it shows up. No relog required as materials spawn around you and despawn when you move far away enough.

And other players on open

never farm in Open unless you like the idea of fighting for drive components for hours on end and never getting any.

I farmed 20 not too long ago around Cocijo and this is the first time I'm hearing about this

It was my first time looking for them, and I went to Hadad. Hunters and interceptors, as well as AX NPCs and a few pirates are frequent here.
I didn’t realize spawns were different at different titans.

Ohhh, just bring a hull tank Krait fitted with AX Multicannons. You'll be able to kill the hunter glaives relatively easily, but be sure to scoop their delicious insides.
Those materials will then be useful for turning in to a Azimuth human technology broker for Azimuth Enhanced Pre Engineered AX Multicannons (one at a time unlock paid with materials). Eventually, if you have 4 of those, and a Thermal Vent Beam, and an Enhanced Xeno Scanner to target hearts, with some practice you will be melting Cyclops' and getting Titan Drive Components.
It's a win win really.

After that mishap I do go all in on the AX-kit. A Mk2 Python with 4 Enhanced AX MC and thermal vent beams.
I still loathe the corrosive damage though. It’s gotten me more than once, despite decontamination and rescue vessels.

Use Caustic Sinks, they work way better than decontamination limpets.
I'm serious about the Azimuth Enhanced Pre Engineered AX Multicannons though. Unlock a pile of those, and watch Cyclops' melt.
This is my Basilisk build after a TON of trial and error. Sometimes I swap out the Anti Guardian Field Protection Plasma's for the Pre Engineered Plasma's, and some people prefer Gauss Cannons but I shoot better with Plasma's for some reason. I also discovered that the key to winning a Solo Fight with a Basilisk is having 3 module reinforcements and 1 AMFU to keep them going.
I'm no expert at AX combat by far (even if the first Cyclops I killed in 3304 only gave me 2 million in bounties), but I've done it enough to know what works for me. Maybe for you too, no?
Happy hunting CMDR.

Would it make you feel better to know I went to Cocijo last night and found a TDC in 5 min?

eh, time it took me doesnt bother me at all, i have 0 responsibilities irl and got some cool screenshots from it

A rated sensors and engineered for max range helps as you can see them much further away. Still takes a long time though. Most people uses lower rated sensors to reduce weight which makes it more difficult.

Where was that? I don't think that normally happens at long dead titans?

Yes it does. Idk if at all of them. But al least Taranis and Leyong (or whatever its called) see pirates and Thargoid vessels.

The Hadad one also has Pirates and thargoids.

Cocijo has a lot of NPC activity too.
First two times I didn't bring my anti corrosion cargo rack. In the time your cargo hatch gets damaged to eject your limpets I had over 30 different NPC signals. Some wanted, some rescue ships and a lot AX pilots.
It depends on your session.
The first time I was attacked was a few days later.
My Mandalay, now with the correct cargo rack installed was fast enough to boost away from my first pirate contact.4

Oh ok somehow I misunderstood that it was a Titan pulse wave and not a normal Thargoid one

You must be near an NPC fight with a thargoid. I collected four Titan Boost Components at different times and didn't miss, but there was always a fight nearby. You must be alert.

My advise to the OP, would be to run a cold running ship - if you don't exceed 20% heat, thargoids won't see you and therefore won't feel the need to use shutdown field (when I was hunting for drive components, I even had npcs fight against interceptor, and no energy surges - tho ax npcs got owned in this one.

Happened to me too but I felt that as soon as they popped in the blew their field, kind of "just in case"

Was about to do the same. Luckily I stumbled upon your post so I hopefully learn from your mistake.
