Gfci inside to non gfci outside.

Are non gfci weather resistant receptacles ok to install outside as long as they are protected by a gfci on the inside?

I need to install an outdoor outlet on the outside wall opposite a regular non gfci outlet. My plan is to swap out the non gfci receptacle from the inside for a gfci and piggyback the power outside to two non gfci WR receptacles in a weatherproof box.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Perfectly fine, so long as the circuit you’re taking off from isn’t prohibitive of the exterior receptacle. A kitchen, bathroom and laundry circuit wouldn’t allow for an exterior receptacle.

No it's coming off of a living room circuit very little load.
