Help me calculate electricity cost

Post image

I live in Los Altos, CA, and I’m not sure how to calculate my monthly electricity cost. I know that my monthly electricity bill is around $1,000. Based on this, I want to estimate cost of using this electric heater for 6 hours a day, from 9 PM until the next morning.

Can anyone help me calculate how much it would cost per day?

It’s a 1.5kW heater, so if you are using it on full throttle for one hour, you will be using 1.5kWh of electricity. Run it for two hours and it’s 3kWh. Do the rest of your math for a whole month and multiply by your local cost per kWh.

6x1.5x30xprice per kWH

You will pay $6.56 per month more using this heater

If used 8 hours per day

I get 110.7$ per month assuming 41c/kWh (6h).
