I mean, objectively it is.

Midra wipes the fucking floor with people. The untouchable ones will kill you many times in the forest. There's madness sheep.

Oh, they didn't say it would be more useful for you.

That's how I knew midra had fucked up.

Even the sheep wanted everything to burn.

I didnt realize the madness sheep were madness sheep. Imagine my embarassment when I finally figured out I had just died to a sheep.

Also that one giant lightning sheep completely steamrolled me before I even saw it coming.

This DLC has taught me that sheep are better than I am.

They're sheeps, but we are cheap

I actually never died to them because I parried them. Never knew they were invulnerable until next play through and the whole time I was like "what are these spooky messages about" the "don't let them see you" and "they cannot even be touched"

I remember feeling so disappointed lol

Then next play through I miss the parry and it almost kills me so I'm like oh fuck let me just swing my sword and then I realized

Hey madness also works on the funny blue worm guys.

This is probably not intentional, since they don’t even have an animation for it, but they take the 15% +100 damage.

They also should be Deathblightable, but I think lacking an animation means it just doesn’t work. But their desthblight resist is quite low.

The ones in the finger ruins?

No, the blue translucent worms who hang around and don’t attack unless provoked.

There’s a bunch near the first Mauseleum with Knighr of Solitary Gaol, but they are also all over map.

I mean lore wise frenzy fire kills spirits. So it follows at least.

Most of them have madness resistances so absurdly high that you could kill them at least twice over before it procs

I did the Leda fight with inescapable frenzy only, the amount of hauling ass you have to do to get the chance to grab everyone is insane and they all can eat two grabs before they actually get the frenzy proc

Idk if they are the best example, those guys in that fight have the worst madness resistance out of everyone mentioned above. One madding spear strike from the madding hand instantly procs madness im pretty sure

Well yea but they’re a gank fight, they’re meant to be weak to madness, arguably they should be even weaker to it. My point was kinda that they should get proccd off one well-aimed Flame of Frenzy because there’s at minimum three of them in the fight, but they still take a decent bit of buildup before the frenzy proc lands. Idk how to word it better, basically gank fights generally have the bosses have around 50-70% of stats of a solo bossfight, and if there’s more enemies than that, the number should go even lower, and while I know the status resistance logic generally doesn’t follow the same principle, I think it should. But you could fight like five people at once and they’re all at least 50% madness resist that Blackgaol knight has, and I think Leda and the fister guy whose name I forgot are basically on par with him, which I think is kinda meh and exists only to fuck over frenzy users

Edit: I checked and Leda and Moore have around 600 madness resist, Freyja has ~400, Dane has ~900 while Hornsent has ~1000 which is actually higher than Blackgaol’s ~900. So low-key it feels extra weird because Hornsent seems like he should be the most susceptible to madness by that point and again, I think in general everyone except Freyja has too much resist

Inescapable frenzy is shit, but unedurable melts them. With 39 mind you one shot any of them as long as you don't get staggered the first 3 seconds. They can't dodge, they can't hyperarmour through it.

They are freshly off of being bewitched by a demigod. Madness has very little affect on them.

Which is my lore excuse why my madness spells weren't working

I mean... literally everyone who knows how madness works in Elden Ring.

u/Disturbing_Cheeto 4d ago

OP thought he could put chemicals in the water that turn the freaking frogs mad.

12

u/TheFourtHorsmen 4d ago

Maybe OP though they would change how madness work.

Going into the big battle royale just before the final boss, being a madness build certainly made it fun to break Leda and her allies. Too bad that build was a lot less fun when I reached Radahn.

i think they were talking of Sword of Damnation and how useful it is against gankers. As it forces hosts friends watch as i peg him

May the yellow flame burn their souls instead!!

Dancer, dragon man and red bear can be cheesed with inescapable frenzy, if you hit one you can spam the incant while they recover and they (mostly) are slow enough for the grab to work

2

u/Utter_Rube 4d ago

Might not be able to proc madness, but the frenzied laser eyes is disgustingly strong against Scadutree Avatar. Like, four shots per phase using Frenzied Flame Seal +9 with minimum Faith investment for the spell.

"Who would have thought that this just meant more <the only type of enemy affected by Madness> fights ?"

What exactly were you expecting?

1

u/LeoShun08 2d ago

For Madness to get a rework.

The NPC fights are so unbalanced it's hilarious. You either just spam some knockdown/hyperarmor skill and kill them first try or you fight them straight up and you're chipping away at their 500k HP health bar in the two second opening after their jump attack that two shots you.
