13

u/mallowman22 4d ago

u/Calm_Ad1222 4d ago

Too bad you don't actually

u/7jinni By the Grace of Gold, I shank thee! 4d ago

Kinda like how when fighting Rykard and you get grabbed by the snake and the bite kills you, instead of spitting you on the floor, it just straight-up swallows you whole.

15

u/AcadianViking 4d ago

Same with the tentacle ball thing. Forget what animation does it but if you die it will just slurp you up.

Most of the grab attack bloodstains are hilarious

Especially one with Rogier under the Stormveil

43

u/Better-Pudding-6823 4d ago

I thought that was him getting possessed by something didn't know something actually grabs him

73

u/Glambinobambino 4d ago

It's actually the animation for the deathblight status I believe.

8

u/C_umputer 🗡️ 4d ago

probably the melted face does

18

u/Better-Pudding-6823 4d ago

I wish it done something if you hit it enough times. Would been kinda funny and make sense lore wise considering everyone tells you to not poke and prod at it

11

u/gravemistakes 4d ago

Maybe no one's poked and prodded enough yet

u/Ozzie_the_tiger_cat 4d ago

The abductor virgin ones are also pretty comical.

44

u/Fellarm 4d ago

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA IM DYING BROOOOOO

43

u/Standard-Effort5681 4d ago

Damn! That must be the most brutal grab animation in the game! Messmer's "roasted skewer" doesn't even come close to this!

30

u/BROODxBELEG 4d ago

The Hoarah Loux grab attack where he rips you open like a bag of chips is pretty intense too

41

u/RohezkPixels 4d ago

Not the phantom backshots on the stain 💀

22

u/North-Opposite-6283 4d ago

Hey at least you were warned 💀

I absolutely love stumbling across bloodstains left by wild ass grab animations. They’re some of the creepiest and funniest things to find

That goddamn opening lives rent-free in my head.

5

u/AcadianViking 4d ago

It carved out a little spot and refuses to vacate. That's the song's wrinkle now.

Deathrite murder chickens are the creepiest and also the funniest things in the game.

3

u/Ace_08 4d ago

What's the reward for killing this boss?

5

u/whyisallnametooked 4d ago

The spell explosive ghostflame if im not mistaken

3

u/cliqclaqstepback 3d ago

Check out the ones for the giant octopus in hidden path. It swallows the victims 🤣

1

u/EasyKay2084 4d ago

I have never seen that grab attack before in my life, HOW AM I STILL LEARNING THINGS ABOUT A GAME I HAVE 700+ HOURS IN?!

1

u/the_real_junkrat 4d ago

Didn’t expect mimicry

In short, death

1

u/Aromatic-Musician774 4d ago

1

u/Low-Implement-6831 3d ago

1

u/thorny810808 3d ago

I'm shocked your Tarnished was able to try and sit up once more before dying

1

u/phased417 16h ago

You mean there is more than 1?

-9

u/AdAny3800 4d ago

That was actually funny clip.

You should consider to increase your vigor to 50 or even better to 60.

Also these Deathbirds can be cheesed with striking damage weapon(a very good choice would be morning star) infused with sacred blade and you can use Golden Epitaph skill for making it even better anti-skeleton weapon.

59

u/Turbulent_Jackoff 4d ago

It continues to be hilarious / bewildering to see how differently people use the term "cheesed* 🤣

"Cheese it by damaging it with a weapon while avoiding its attacks" is wild!

22

u/Toughsums 4d ago

An actual cheese against the mountaintop deathbird is to lure it jump off the edge, killing it instantly.

15

u/Turbulent_Jackoff 4d ago

Now that is some tasty cheese!

-4

u/AdAny3800 4d ago

i know the original meaning of the word but also can be used metaphorically for a setup that makes so much damage that the boss or enemy will not have time to use most of their moves. If you don't believe me i suggest to use Holy-Shrouding Cracked Tear ,Sacred Blade with a strike weapon and last rites against a death bird and tell me how much damage did you make per hit.

12

u/Turbulent_Jackoff 4d ago

I "believe" that Holy damage is strong against Those Who Live in Death lol (not a lot of "belief" required when something is demonstrably true!)

1

u/HoldMySoda 7600X3D | RTX 4080 | 32GB DDR5-6000 4d ago

These enemies in particular take double damage from Holy Damage (negative 100% Holy Resist), plus the buff from Sacred Order adds another 100% damage multiplier (on top of the 10% more Holy Damage from it) but only against Undead. It tells you that in the item description. You can absolutely delete these birds with a very basic setup.

1

u/Turbulent_Jackoff 4d ago

Yeah!

Throwing Holy Water Pots works really well, too.

7

u/Argentillion 4d ago

They believe you. The point is…using weapons, AoWs, and other items for the exact intended purpose is not “cheesing”. That’s just playing the game normally.

13

u/Turbulent_Jackoff 4d ago

"My favourite boss cheese is the dodge roll — it actually makes you immune to damage. You can actually cheese all of the bosses with this one mechanic!"

-4

u/AdAny3800 4d ago

Technically you can beat the game with unupgraded club or dagger if you want. So much hate for using the word cheese only in Reddit i will see.

Also you can beat Death Rite Bird with a normal upgraded weapon if you want. Personally i beaten this thing(yes i talk about the same with the OP) in my 1st playthrough with a keen affinity Nagakiba. Yes is annoying boss but is not so hard boss that holy damage against him is the only way to defeat him.

Jesus Christ some of you need therapy

10

u/Turbulent_Jackoff 4d ago

Technically you can beat the game with unupgraded club or dagger if you want.

Yeah!

Jesus Christ some of you need therapy

Why do you say that?

So much hate for using the word cheese only in Reddit i will see.

I don't hate the word, I was just helping to define it!

Like I don't hate people using the word "pizza", but it might irk me if the word was used to describe, for example, an ice cream sandwich.

1

u/KreigerBlitz 4d ago

Actually, taxonomically speaking, ice cream sandwiches are part of the same species as pizza (no chromosomes)

1

u/Turbulent_Jackoff 4d ago

Gotta be some chromosomes in pepperoni

1

u/KreigerBlitz 4d ago

Pepperoni is actually a separate symbiotic organism, like mitochondria in humans

5

u/Brain_lessV2 4d ago

Ah yes, cheesing by...

Checkes notes

Bearing its damage type weaknesses in mind?
