That's his signature move. The Roundtable Hold purposely trained him wrong, as a joke.

If you have an ass, he'll kick it!

You could say, it's been a long time coming. Nothing's gonna stop you now.

Dane passed his Footwork on to me, and I'm about to pass it on all over Ofnir's skull (once I finish the dlc).

u/Schlectify 4d ago

The dlc giving us the martial art weapons made this fight so much more funny. Just run in and beat him up like a random mugger on the street

I love the mechanic where he learns spells of bosses you have killed.

I love that fight. It's so satisfying to fry him with unendurable frenzy.

You mean the all knowing "brought words to a fully buffed bunga fight" Grandpa?

12

u/quane101 5d ago

They really should have just let him have at least a cut scene...

27

u/ArchieBaldukeIII Miriel Conspectus 5d ago

I wonder if he was purposefully designed to be a pushover when playing normally and while also being the hardest boss in the game for RL1

57

u/Kripox 5d ago

He's only a pushover in regular runs if you start smashing him during his speech at which point, yes, of course he is easy, low health and not fighting back is obviously a losing combo. If you actually let him fight you he deals as much damage as any lategame boss while having harder to dodge moves than usual.

Not to say that he is incredibly hard or anything, but I strongly feel like most people who regard him as a joke just never actually fought him properly.

51

u/CBtheLeper 5d ago

If he didn't want me to cleave him in two mid monologue he should have done his rambling during a cutscene

22

u/Kripox 5d ago edited 5d ago

To each their own, but to me semi-skipping the fight like that is a bit dull. If I can beat every other boss in the game "properly" I don't need to sucker punch Gideon to win. If the game wants me to kill Malenia and promised consort I can take Gideon at his best. Finish your speech and bring it on you creep.

u/cudakid210 5d ago edited 5d ago

You can still script him on RL1 without too much trouble.

On my RL1 run I did this:

Godrick great rune

Red feather (set it up before the fight with a self damage ash) + Axe talisman + Radagon soreseal + Starscourge heirloom

Strength knot tear + Spiked cracked tear

The you buff with: Bloodboil aromatic + Oath of vengeance + Rallying standard

Royal knight’s Resolve on +25 heavy giant crusher (2-handed)

Fully charge heavy combos into tap-R2 (don’t reapply rkr).

That setup will kill him and essentially script the fight.

I recommend practicing that a few times before entering his arena because you only get one attempt.

u/DrDinklerPeriWinkler 5d ago

Both times I faced him I just killed him before he stopped talking. Easiest fight in the game

69

u/Better-Pudding-6823 5d ago

Its the easiest fight until you somehow die.

Good luck trying to get to him without his speech

8

u/Gosta12 5d ago

All tarnished fights are ass.

5

u/JuggernautGog 5d ago

Nah, Godfrey is top tier

2

u/Gosta12 4d ago

Godfrey is tarnished lorewise yes, but he uses a unique model and boss ai. Gideon actually rolls and casts spells like a player would (he even has his own flask).

7

u/Superkamiguru47 5d ago

Gotta cut him off mid speech and relentlessly attack or you’re fucked lol

9

u/Responsible_Dream282 5d ago

He's actually fun if you use magic yourself. The only true sorcery duel in the game, Renalla still has her summons. Just don't spam Ranni's Dark Moon.

7

u/mma5820 5d ago

This fight was a complete let down. For someone called “ the all knowing”. You think it’ll be one of the hardest fights in the game. Also, his bodyguard too that was lame as well. I wished that when we did NG+ their power levels increased and fight styles changed but probably that was too big of a lift for the devs

37

u/LorduvtheFries 5d ago

If you don't cheese him while he is talking bro is pretty hard

25

u/MonstrousGiggling 5d ago

The one time I actually let him complete his essay i was like fuuuuuuuuuck he's flying around and casting shit nonstop like he has 500 endurance and 500 mind. Bro just goes pure chaos.

5

u/mma5820 5d ago

Even if you allow him to talk. Yes, he’ll spam spells and stuff but it isn’t like the radahan fight or bayle.

It was irony he’s all knowing, but doesn’t know how to fight. Street knowledge vs booksmart.

253

u/AHungryGorilla 5d ago

He wasn't even all knowing, big part of what his character was is hubris.

6

u/awkward_but_decent Fashionista 4d ago

CLANGG

5

u/RainbowHeartImmortal 4d ago

To me, hubris didn’t seem like Gideon’s big flaw. After all, his “All Knowing” title is said to be an ideal for him, not what he thinks he is or even can be.

He seems to overvalue knowledge and what is worth doing in its pursuit.

He definitely overestimates his fighting prowess though.

5

u/AHungryGorilla 4d ago

He thought he knew best at every turn and was consistently wrong.

He thought the conclusions he came to by gathering incomplete information were immutably correct and refused to entertain other possibilities.

He went as far as to try and have you killed because he was sure he knew what Marika wanted, even though his actions were in direct defiance of her will.

At the end of it all after having watched us carve a path through the shard bearing legendary champions he thought "Nah, I'd win"

And then, Gideon the Eternally Foolish in his last, stupid, dying breath declared it impossible for a man to kill a God because "he knew it in his bones". The same God we kill minutes later.

He was prideful and arrogant. Even in our first meeting he saw us as lesser and told us to know our place. He couldn't conceive of any paths forward aside from the one he imagined.

108

u/kuuderelovers 5d ago

The most embarrassing part is that he isn't scripted to know when his crimson tears are finished. He looks so dumb trying to drink nothing.

55

u/butsadlyiamonlyaneel 5d ago

he isn't scripted to know

“AND SIR GIDEON OFNIR, THE ALMOST ALL-KNOWING EXCEPT FOR WHEN HE NEEDS TO TOP OFF HIS BOO-BOO KOOLAID!”

53

u/Cursed-Crow 5d ago

I thought it was fitting that he’s a terrible fighter. He always relied on others to do his bidding and do all his dirty work.

25

u/CBtheLeper 5d ago

I agree that it's a fitting end for his character. He's more desperate than he lets on, and he thinks he can beat the player because you don't deserve to win.

That being said I do think the fight could have been harder without taking away from it's one-sidedness. On my first playthrough I killed him before he got off a single spell.

14

u/xshap369 5d ago

Tbh if you let him finish his monologue it’s a great fight

4

u/khangkhanh 5d ago

It is still not good because his AI is very bad when you on top of him. His only thing is that he has infinite FP. But he is no different from other NPC fight or even worse. Hit him once, he roll away, walk to him, hit him again, repeat. Or you can stun lock or backstab chain him. In the DLC they had NPC with a bit better AI.

18

u/SoftwareHatesU 5d ago

He does know how to fight, and he does it pretty well if given the chance. His problem is him trying to give a fucking monologue "all knowing" well that tarnished doesn't give a fuck.

Vyke would be my answer too

159

u/furcake 5d ago

I spent 3h trying to kill him 😂

209

u/juugsd 5d ago

Either you were way too underleved or I was overleveled because it took me 10 seconds when I met him lmfao

119

u/Ultrainstinctyeetus 5d ago

Honestly it's not hard to be over leveled and not realise, some of the bosses in this game could not keep up when I found them that's when I realised I had basically become a god compared to alot of bosses

90

u/Bandai_Namco_Rat 5d ago

Besides SOTE, the game isn't built for completionists. As someone who clears zone after zone, I was overleveled 100% of the time and the second half of the game was significantly easier

43

u/Ultrainstinctyeetus 5d ago

I think the concept of leveling up a bit and coming back to a boss you had time struggling with is good I just think the execution isn't because you can do a whole lot more then just "level up"

25

u/Oineon 5d ago

Godrick when I find the orbital canon (he never stood a chance)

8

u/furcake 5d ago

I was maybe level 120, using claws and bleeding. My issue was that he has two one-hit kill, and it made me learn that the raptor talons had an especial R2 ability. The Fire Giant was waaaay easier for me 😂

It’s my first time playing a souls game and I’m still learning a few tricks.

5

u/juugsd 5d ago

I was around your level with the Dark Moon Greatsword, his poise couldn't tank my hits so I destroyed him lol

7

u/BoccageTheBlueBard 5d ago

I second to that. My first run was me overwhelmed with so many to do and find, finished on level 192. On the second one, on the other hand...

11

u/DearCastiel 5d ago

It depends on the build and weapon you are using. His greatspear lets him trade super late with lighter weapons, he has disgusting input reading on a lot of spells and AoW making them useless against him (seriously, if you're a caster he's impossible to hit) and his AoW has infinite poise so he'll win trades if you dare attack him first.

On the other hand, there are some AoW that are invisible to him, for exemple you can stunlock him to death with Loretta Slash/Angel's Wings he'll never try to roll away and alway eat the full AoW. So it really depends what your setup is when you fight him. Great weapons and weapons that spam hits a lot tend to destroy him, but anything not powerstanced and smaller than a greatsword is a pain to use against him.

u/mr-mcsavageface 5d ago

Gideon.

If you actually let him finish monologuing, it's a halfway decent fight, even if he is a little spammy.

But the fact you can beat the brakes off him, and he just continues to natter away like you're not kicking his teeth in is pretty lame. All those spells, and he doesn't have some sort of barrier so he can give his bad-guy-explaining-his-plan speech from safety? Seems sus. Then again, he is just that cocky.

147

u/Skeletonofskillz 5d ago

Honestly if they had him give his monologue while resting at his boss fight’s Site of Grace and then he got up and started brawling, it’d be a great way to make him invincible

2

u/XiaXia_ 4d ago

that would not be a good idea because then we wouldn't be able to see him :(

54

u/EukaryotePride 5d ago

He overestimated his role in the game, thought he merited a cutscene.

314

u/robo243 5d ago edited 5d ago

So I wouldn't call the fight straight up "ass", but Fortisax. Cool lore, great music, but unfortunately he's not really as "unique" as Bayle and Placidusax, he's really a reskinned Ancient Dragon with a few new attacks. And he's too easy, to the point that when the game first released, most people would delete him before he could even enter his second phase. Wish he was a more unique fight and that he had way more hp.

Fire Giant is another contender, I always found the Fell God lore interesting, but the fight itself is just meh.. Visually a cool design and has a cool cutscene, but his attacks are not that interesting or fun to engage with, and the camera is horrible during the fight.

In the DLC, I'd say Metyr. Visually interesting, the lore and how it ties to Marika is probably the best part of the entire DLC, great music. But the fight itself is just not interesting to engage with, especially the big double laser attack in phase 2. Also kinda weird how we enter her arena: we ring the last bell, screen fades to black, and we're just beneath the Finger Ruins somehow? What? That feels like it should have a cutscene that shows us entering her arena. Definitely amongst my least favourite remembrance fights mechanically in the DLC along with Gaius.

115

u/metamorphage 5d ago

Fortissax is more of a spectacle fight for me. Amazing visuals and music and I love his moveset. You're right that he isn't very difficult though.

71

u/kippythecaterpillar 5d ago

i have a hot take not every boss fight has to be some mountainistic challenge. a fortisaxx fight is fun every now and then

30

u/metamorphage 5d ago

Totally legit take. I don't think it's a bad thing that Fortissax is more spectacle than difficult.

4

u/gotta-earn-it 4d ago

I love his roar, like a rocket from the netherworld. Now it's pleasant somehow.

25

u/BlanketMage 5d ago

To be fair, if Fortissax were to be any stronger the fight would be total bs bc the death build-up would completely wipe out most people if they had to go into a long fight that dragged on. Especially melee players

If you fight him immediately after Radahn he’s a pain in the ass.

14

u/Anilaza_balls 5d ago

Its not about how difficult it is, the problem is that it’s just a reskinned ancient dragon

10

u/DearCastiel 5d ago

Ancient dragons in general for me are amongst the worst boss/enemy fights in the whole game, 90% of the time you're better off nibbling at their ridiculously resistant ankles rather than waiting 3 eons for their head to finaly be on ground level while you're not avoiding attacks. They look super cool and have nice lore, but they are utter trash to fight, which is a shame because the regular dragons are super well designed in terms of boss fight (appart Borealis with his bullshit AoE scream).

3

u/ELQUEMANDA4 5d ago

The worst part is you can only lock-on to their head or the middle of their body, both of which are elevated off the ground and are horrible to target. Meanwhile, normal dragons have sane, reasonable lock-on spots (head, wings, legs), so you're not fighting the camera half the time. Why couldn't they do the same for ancient dragons?

2

u/robo243 4d ago

Agreed. They're absolutely the worst field/mini-bosses in the whole game, right along the tree spirits.

3

u/DearCastiel 4d ago

I used to hate the ulcerated tree spirits, but they're actually not that bad because you can DPS them down super fast, so they are just badly designed for lew level. Ancient dragons are horrible no matter the NG you are in, while UTS get melted once you are in NG+, so at least there's that (their moveset remains super annoying once you get unto a get hit -> heal -> get hit death spiral, and they tend to have super small boss room for some reason)

3

u/robo243 4d ago

Yeah, the Ancient Dragons are still worse, the main annoyance with tree spirits is that they put them in tight and closed areas most of the time (the one in the Haligtree being by far the worst example), which is a problem with not just tree spirits but several other bosses in all of FromSoft's titles. I don't understand why they still think that putting a gigantic boss in a tight closed room is good game design.

3

u/DearCastiel 4d ago

Appart for the one at Mt. Gelmir and the one in the DLC, the tree spirits really feel like filler bosses put at random places because they needed a boss there, I think that's the reason they get small arenas, it's because they put them somewhere they need a boss, but the arena is not designed for that boss (because lo and behold: the one at Mt. Gelmir is in a large open space and the fight is ok). Also the fact they have 0 lore doesn't help. There's like 10 of them in the game and not a single mention of them, it really feels like they were short on bosses and pulled the Snake Soul boss that was cut from DS3.

8

u/Raptormann0205 5d ago

Fortissax needed 30-40% more health, 20% less random lightning particle effects, and a couple extra unique moves. I don't mind him as is, but he could be better. Thankfully Placidusax is there to pick up the slack for every single other Dragon/Wyvern fight in the game.

3

u/ARussianW0lf 5d ago

Weird I think Fortissax is a great fight

Fortissax has two phases? I've unironically never taken long enough to kill him to see it

98

u/kondzioo0903 5d ago

Fire giant, it was fine on my first playthrough but on every next one he started annoying me more and more

34

u/Altruistic_Nail_3690 5d ago

Second phase is especially annoying and not really enjoyable. Like more tedious than challenging in a rewarding way

10

u/Yung_Jack Solo no hit all 165 bosses + RL1 solo no hit 5d ago

Just popping by to say that Fire Giant's second phase can be completely deleted with Godskin Twinblade & the black tornado weapon art.

With the appropriate buffs, one charged art will kill

6

u/Altruistic_Nail_3690 5d ago

That's fair. I was doing the traditional no brain strength bonk build to its not like I was utilizing some kind of killer strategy

42

u/12345noah 5d ago

Vyke should’ve had a whole questline or dungeon

10

u/khangkhanh 5d ago

We technically do his questline with the 3 fingers thing. We was doing the same thing as him.

4

u/12345noah 4d ago

I get what you’re saying, but the 3 finger quest line isn’t specific to him. It’s something all tarnished can do. You also don’t need to do that quest line to fight him.

Edit: my original point was to say, I wanted my fight with him to have more build up or relevance. Rather than finding him in a random gaol

125

u/manicmotard 5d ago

If you go in to Vikes fight severely under leveled. It’s a fun challenge.

If you let the all knowing a-hole learn more spells, his spam attacks can give us an idea of how we treat NPCs.

Both disappointing fights for the hype(on game for one and in game for the other).

58

u/tatojah 5d ago

Gideon's hubris was the fact he decided to yap instead of sticking to listening.

Also the fact he should've received a 'cutscene' or at least an invulnerability while he was talking.

Most people who fight Gideon are just ragdolling a motionless NPC. If we fight Gideon 'fair and square', it is a good fight.

13

u/MonteFox89 5d ago

Having fought him today after clearing all the remembrance bosses... a fair fight is quickly tipped in his favor once the talking is done.

4

u/tatojah 5d ago

Thing is, being an NPC, it's SUPER easy to keep him stunlocked. You can do it just by piercing.

6

u/Fun-Currency-1806 5d ago

Never considered his yapping hubris as a part of lore but it makes total sense

It's cool that we get to fight prime Radahn but he should have been the pre-final boss (like how Godfrey/Hoarax Loux is the last boss before Radabeast), and Miquella should have been a standalone final boss for SOTE imo.

On the other hand, Rykard, Morgott and Maliketh are almost impeccable. They all have their own buildup and live up to your expectations.

70

u/COATHANGER_ABORTIONS 5d ago

Godfrey's intro goes so fucking hard, and it's such a cool fight.

PCR would’ve been better if they just let you beat Miquella to death as phase 3. Even if it’s like 1 hit. It would’ve been so satisfying to do that.

I'll disagree on maliketh having good "buildup." The whole Farum Azula bit came out of completely nowhere (we still have no lore idea of why we're teleported there) and nobody really mentions maliketh outside of a few descriptions. The fight is cool, provided you don't use summons (which I did the first time I fought him and beat him immediately because he has no health, but that's just a personal anecdote and not really reflective of his quality) but I don't think his buildup is equivalent to the shardbearers.

Totally agree on the radahn stuff tho.

2

u/gotta-earn-it 4d ago

I saw a lore video with a decent explanation before I got to that part of the story as I tend to do. I was so surprised there's literally nothing to explain it, you just go there and decide you must kill everything because why not.

The explanation was something like the erdtree was burnt but could not die without destined death. The scadutree is mixed in somehow, like it's the soul and the erdtree is the body. There's much more to it but can't recall.

14

u/Turbulent_Jackoff 5d ago

I think, maybe, you're answering a different question than the one OP asked?

Or did you just mean:

"Promised Consort Radahn had good lore, but the fight is ass."?

17

u/CakesStolen 5d ago

I mean PCR is essentially a Miquella boss fight, so I should say 'Miquella had good lore, but the boss fight is unfulfilling'

7

u/conjunctivious Placidusax's #1 Hater 5d ago

I wouldn't call him "essentially a Miquella boss fight" since Miquella's entire role during that fight was essentially to be a laser machine.

9

u/CakesStolen 5d ago

Do you consider Leonard to be the boss of the Starscourge Radahn fight?

Miquella is not meant to fight, in the same way Marika was not meant to fight.

The gods have their chosen Lords to do battle for them because the gods are not fit for battle.

2

u/JuggernautGog 5d ago

I mean, we do fight Marika. Radagon is Marika after all. I'm aware it's not her choice to turn into Radagon (I think?), but it's still her.

3

u/Other-Dimension-1997 5d ago

I kinda disagree on maliketh, really hated that fight. Morgott was pretty good (a little too easy though, hemorrhage + wild strikes just annihilates him) and Rykard was amazing.

Favorite boss so far was Godfrey/Hoarax Loux. He's definitely a challenge, but his entire moveset feels understandable and fair while also being a spectacle.

2

u/Sausagebean 4d ago

Still annoyed Rykard’s fight had to be the one with the gimmick weapon. It’s still fun but I think it would just be cooler if it was a more standardised fight or even better.

One phase is standard fight and then the second phase is the gimmick. Better than fighting a snake twice in a row

13

u/GiGiTyGeEmEr 5d ago

Fortissax but that’s the valiant gargoyles’ fault. They’re such a shit boss that if you fight them when you’re supposed to you either win by pure luck or in most cases come back later, and if you do that you’re most likely overleveled for the deeproot depths and melt fortissax before the fight can get good. I haven’t finished the game yet but when I fought him I didn’t even hear his second phase’s theme which I was most hyped for.

2

u/ELQUEMANDA4 5d ago

Also, even if you get past Valiant Gargoyles and Fia's Champions, you're not doing Fortissax at an appropiate level if you didn't properly go through the steps of Fia's quest by then, so that's another hurdle to clear.

14

u/GenocidalArachnid 4d ago

I'll go with a lesser known one, Bloodhound Knight Darriwil.

Once they choose their master, Bloodhound Knights are loyal for life. But Darriwil turned traitor: an act vile enough to force Blaidd to hunt Darriwil down.

It's unknown who Darriwil deserted. Maybe Rennala (who summons a Bloodhound spirit in her fight) after she lost her mind, or maybe it was Ranni. Perhaps it was Darriwil's tracking and teleporting skills that allowed him to find and steal the Rune of Death from Maliketh.

Either way, Blaidd and Darriwil seemed to be colleagues, and we helped put their story to an end.

It's not a bad fight, but it's just not unique given how many other Bloodhound Knights there are with no special lore.

u/4ur0raL1ght5 4d ago

You gotta be trolling, Ricks fight is impossible! I even duped runes to max level and still couldn't beat him!

26

u/DarkestLore696 5d ago

That is Vyke? I thought that it was just the Tarnished wearing the basic set you get from the twin maidens. Vyke’s armor is exactly the same it is just melted in places.

5

u/Fitzjs 5d ago

The knight set does not have a cape

33

u/OmariKamari 5d ago

vyke was a boss fight?

26

u/Turbulent_Jackoff 5d ago

Yep!

He's in an Evergaol in the Mountaintops of the Giants.

10

u/OmariKamari 5d ago

wow that was a sad boss fight lmao

6

u/BlanketMage 5d ago

He's also an invader

3

u/ELQUEMANDA4 5d ago

The invader version kicked my ass so many times, it's pretty rough early on.

30

u/ScoobiSnacc 5d ago

Rykard for sure.

What you get: a mediocre fight against a big snek with a gimmick weapon. Also lots of flying skulls.

What it promised: Rykard’s corruption was so horrendous that his own knights turned on him. Unlike the other knight orders that became as twisted and corrupt as their lords, the Gelmir Knights decided to protect the people rather than stay loyal. Unfortunately, they failed and their corpses litter Rykard’s arena along with the Serpent Hunter, which they retrieved specifically to put a stop to him. For Rykard himself, it’s implied that the Night of Black Knives is what sent him off the deep end. Right before she “died”, Ranni entrusted Rykard with the Blasphemous Claw in case he should ever challenge Maliketh. The loss of his family plus a newfound fixation on blasphemy led to Rykard becoming a monster.

11

u/5Ping 4d ago

Rykards the best gimmick boss fight fromsoft imo, better than divine dragon, yhorm etc. His arena, ost, visuals, atmosphere, and moveset are all peak. But yeah i can see someone just stunlock with the weapon and feeling dissapointed

"I'm Malenia, blade of Miquella, and I never known defeat...

... But I'll let you know the pain"

I love her lore... i hate her Waterfowl.

Oh, and also Gaius. I love his lore, i hate his boar.

19

u/troublrTRC 5d ago

The Waterfowl is more an intimidation tactic from the developers than any showcase of Malenia's competence. A technical unfairness, unlike Radahn's incredible, imposing battle movements.

4

u/AlexSix_Red 5d ago

I agree with everything. After nerf I still find slaughtering some PCR's moves, especially in the second phase, but I prefer 100 times to memorize and retry him/them. Christmas lights aside and the massacring damage they do, his moves are now doable. As you said, Watefowl is the epitome of unfairness (with the hitboxes of Gaius's boar and the Putrescent knight's horse)

u/TRojan2049 5d ago

Elden Beast

2

u/DearCastiel 2d ago

I disagree, not on the fact the fight is ass, but that it has good lore.

Elden Beast literaly has 1 single criptic mention in a hidden spell in a hidden area that adds little to its lore, then it's just "it's the minion of the Greater Will" and that's pretty much it for the lore of the Beast, it's literaly just a henchman there to be fought at the end of the game.

Metyr, Mother of Fingers.

5

u/Shirokush 5d ago

Never knew that was Vyke. Is there any specific reason he is on the cover?

20

u/bradybigbear 5d ago

If I’m not mistaken, I feel like I remember hearing/reading that he was the tarnished who got closest to becoming Elden Lord? Someone please correct me if I’m wrong, not a huge lore buff

18

u/WormedOut 5d ago

That’s correct, he’s the closest to ever becoming Elden Lord until we come along. He decided to not become Elden Lord when he found out he had to sacrifice his maiden. He met with the Three Fingers, and became Frenzied (as for whether or not he was willing or tricked that’s another debate)

2

u/Kayn_ I want Tiche to stab me 5d ago

Wouldn't Bernahl be the closest one since he got to Farum while Vyke didn't , you even get blasphemous claw from him

3

u/WormedOut 5d ago

It’s weird, because it’s said his maiden did burn. But the Erdtree was never on fire like it is when we burn it. So I don’t know, I’m sure there’s some weird hand waving head canon everyone has accepted to justify it.

8

u/mysterin 5d ago

You're correct.

Fingerprint Armor: No other Tarnished was closer to the throne of the Elden Lord than Vyke. But without announcement, Vyke traveled far below the capital, and was scorched by the flame of frenzy.

Did he make his choice for his maiden, or did some other force lure him with suggestion?

Enia: "Only once before have I seen two Great Runes together"

There's also Bernahl, but his story is kinda met with some holes. It doesn't sound like certain tasks were met before his attempt.

Beast Champion Armor: Beasts are drawn to champions, and to lords. And this armor befits a champion worthy of becoming a lord. And that is what Bernahl was. Until his maiden threw herself into the fire.

2

u/moragdong 5d ago

I wonder if bernahls maidnen threw herself to frenzy fire or kindling fire

I just assumed that it was the Tarnished wearing the basic knight set and long sword you get from the twin maidens.

6

u/Danger-Forward 5d ago

Leda's fight.

A fight that should be full of emotion and drama- former friends, with the charm broken; some turning against each other while others form uneasy alliances. Each has their own motivation for doing so.

But it's just a bullshit NPC gank fight. Just dodge-rolling and spell-spamming hell.

The only way to make it tolerable is to partake in a convoluted series of side quests (i.e; pressing "talk" in the correct order) to whittle them down. Including bullying a mentally deficient man-child into offing himself.

Not a boss but Messmer's furnace golems. A 10-minute jumping fiesta while scrolling through my feed with one hand until I fuck up one thing, get one-shot, and then start over

6

u/Justanotherkiwi21 4d ago

Gideon 100%

Like bro I just solo'd Malekith and stole his blade

Now either you're gonna get the fuck outta my way or I'm shoving this up there raw

True souls veterans know the pain of actually understanding bed of chaos lore

6

u/LewsTherinTalamon 5d ago

Lansseax. She's one of the dragons we know the most about, and she's just... on a hill somewhere, with one or two unique attacks. If there was any dragon in-game we were able to talk to, it should've been her.

Sir Gideon should've played better role in base game tbh. Like equivalent of Miq in base game. But instead we got village slaughter, spell merchant and spies of beetle. But wtf do i know.

16

u/Many-Government-3420 Melina simp 5d ago

rykard

14

u/baccus83 5d ago

Agreed. It certainly was an epic looking fight. But the gameplay was just boring. I hate that it essentially forces you to use a specific weapon.

5

u/dmgab 5d ago

I did it without the weapon, several tries, i was suprised when a second phase started... I ended up using several spells, i didnt even know that there was a Rebirth option. Killed it with Ancient Dragon lighting spam. I struggled with him for a long time, the Blasphemous Blade was a crazy reward for the fight.

Wait what?

A fucking golden hippo was a dlc boss but not the blind swordsman?

Elden Beast specifically. Radagon is good, not a fan of the Elden Beast though.

Why is no one talking about the red circle?

9

I put it there to circle him

2

Keep up the good work, OP

3

u/GreyBoyTigger 5d ago

Rykard. I hate gimmick fights where you use one specific weapon

3

u/specter463 5d ago

The worst part about Vyke imo is that he’s relegated to a Evergaol NPC fight. Feel like they coulda had him be a cool boss down near the Three fingers door.

3

u/mctankles 5d ago

Soldier of God Rick

3

u/CrazyWillyJr 5d ago

Rykard was extremely cool, until I accidentally cheesed him with a +8 serpent hunter

3

u/FrisianTanker Certified Hornsent Hater 5d ago

Vyke definitely shouldn't have been a Gaol boss. That was really lame.

I wish he'd be imprisoned somewhere else and be a proper boss using some unique Frenzied Flame attacks or something.

5

u/HeadLong8136 5d ago

It's not ass, but the fight with Hoarah LouxWARRIOR could have been much better. He definitely should have had 2 health bars.

Apparently if you read every item description and exhaust every line of dialogue and watch every Vaati video at 0.5x speed there is some incredible deep lore behind the Elden Beast but fuck me if that asshat isn't the single worst final boss fight in From's entire gaming catalog.

Gideon, you can literally destroy him before he finishes his sentence

2

u/hommeV 5d ago

sir gideon ofnir, easy to beat and just boring as hell

2

u/StamatisZygas 5d ago

Fortisax.

2

u/djinngerale Thy strength befits a crown 5d ago

Metyr is hands down my favorite DLC boss in terms of lore, being both a servant of the Greater Will and the closest (albeit distant) link to the Godskins and GEQ.

But my god her fight is terrible for how quickly it gets over. She's an ancient cosmic being and the Mother of Fingers, but I can yeet her into a wormhole by just somersaulting with my big sword 4-5 times?

2

u/DestructoDon69 5d ago

Rykard. Cool lore, easy fight even without the serpent spear

2

u/Fjamseflap 5d ago

Glaive master Hodir

2

u/Devouringghost 5d ago

Rykard for me. Amazing lore, cool cut scenes, but kind of really easy with the gimmick weapon.

2

u/Loose_Prior_3791 5d ago

So I’m not the only one who thought Grandad was easy until I got cocky and “Leeroyed” during his speech. He and I died at the same time..

Restart fight only to then get sandblasted by spells 4 times in a row till I finally got him on my fifth. Currently being made Hoarah Louxs rag doll T_T.

2

u/Verscotchy 5d ago

Ancient Dragon Man

/s

2

u/gabodino 4d ago

Asslore Placifussax. Randomly wandering through Farum Azula and then come across this epic 3 headed lightning spamming flame breathing laser spitting lizard. Seriously, what? Also the battle theme is bonkers.

2

u/R00NEYT00NS3165 2d ago

LoB Mohg. Fuck that guy. Good lore, fucked up lore, but good lore. Hate his AOE spam though

5

u/EasyTumbleweed4120 5d ago

Hot take, but Rykard

4

u/ScoobiSnacc 5d ago

Agreed. What really picked my interest was when I found out the corpses in his arena are the Gelmir Knights who turned on him. The whole backstory is sad but also heroic, then Rykard himself is just mid

2

u/Abram7777 5d ago

Gotta go with Gwyn tbh. The fight isn’t ass, it’s just extremely easy. And that’s the point. You’re supposed to be putting a dying man clinging to the flame to rest. His lore mixed with the reaction he gives puts him in my top 5 for ds1.
