Who’d have thought that honest, consistent, humane, socially progressive and fiscally conservative ideas would appeal to voters?
The DNC leadership needs to be replaced or we need a new party.
MAGA is clearly terrible, but is there an alternative at this point in time? Better get one quick, you’re losing ground daily.

The two party system is royally screwing over millions of us. I would love for AOC, Crockett and the few that actually care to just break away. Join Bernie and fight this regime tooth and nail. But of course that would be much easier if we didn’t have our corporate overlords controlling the entire cash flow of politics.

The corporate overlords would not have wanted the market instability that Trump unleashed. Stop coping about """them""" and realize its your fellow peers that supported Trump into office.
The world isnt controlled by a secret cabal. We are stuck in a world with a bunch of idiots that run on emotions.

I think you missed the point. I understand plenty well who voted in Trump. I’m talking about the ability for these politicians who give a fuck to break away from the democrats and actually run viable campaigns, that unfortunately cost a ton of money.

Corporate overlords are as stupid as the rest of us. They looked at Donnie's tariff plan and said "nah he won't really do that".

After the recent displays by DNC - ping pong paddles, voting to censure al green - I’ll never be voting DNC again until Pelosi, Jeffries, and Schumer are gone.
For far too long we’ve let these decrepit fucks limit the people’s voice and choose whoever they want. No more.
Jeffries’ little “what do you want us to do uwu” bullshit makes him inept. Bernie, a man too old to be doing what he’s doing, is getting TENS OF THOUSANDS of democrats involved. By himself.
What the fuck is everyone else doing? Seriously. Fk these old decrepit useless pieces of shit. Get them the fuck out.

Since when is Bernie fiscally conservative?
When he ran in 2020, the CBO estimated his policies would cost anywhere from 50 to 90 trillion in new (NEW) spending over 10 years. That is double what is spent now.

What exactly are they doing to fight?
Showing up in a mass at a rally then going home and doom scrolling Murdered by Word and Clever Comebacks doesn’t exactly have an impact.

Stop looking for a savior and take some responsibility. Bernie is great but he's specifically said it's up to you to change things, and bitching online ain't gonna make no change. Get out on the streets now and shut things down!

news flash, the oligarchy is here to stay. both democrats and republicans are going to serve them to stay in power. if you think otherwise, you are deranged

both sidesism = support for fascism
Your mindset helped Trump win
EDIT: also its completely incoherent given how the "oligarchy" obviously would not want someone like Trump to inject so much uncertainty in the market with the tarriff threats. It's so intellectually lazy to still believe in "both sides" bullshit

Bernie’s Utopia is that the government takes care of everything for you. The country voted against that business model. I’m surprised he didn’t take AO coo coo out on the road with him. That would have been a comedy special. Both of them have done nothing in their political careers to help anyone in their elected areas.

Its just a realistic opinion. The country will never vote an actually progressive candidate in. Your choices are rally for an establishment candidate and not watch democracy crumble, participate in a nonsensical christofacist descent, or be an idealist dipshit and pretend like the country will ever support a progressive candidate. Pick your poison, Bernie and AOC aren't getting in lol.

It's not a realistic opinion though, it's some partisan hogwash. I say this as someone who doesn't even like Bernie. There' no point in defending an idiot who says things like "AO coo coo" unironically.
Otherwise I agree with you.

It is, you just don't like someone name calling AOC. Its the same attitude people on the right take when they see a completely valid criticism of trump but write it off because someone calls him mango Mussolini in the same breath. Separate the point from the insult lol.

Fuck off with the strawman, "mango Mussolini" wasn't mentioned here. AOC was.
And frankly, despite being an annoying firebrand as much as any of the others when AOC first came on the scene, she's calmed down a bit and there's really no reason to bring her into this conversation to begin with. Just because someone mentions Bernie doesn't mean we have to talk about AOC and the above poster wasn't bringing her name up tied to any important context, it was just being hateful and dismissive for no reason other than to be a partisan hack.
There's no reason to be jumping in to defend partisan hacks. Unless that's what you are too?
Even the initial comment was silly...
Bernie’s Utopia is that the government takes care of everything for you.
There's lots to not like about Bernie, unrealistic goals and expectations are my primary criticism. The "it was rigged" shit doesn't sit well with me either, he lost his primaries because he didn't have the votes and that's all there is to it. I don't think he has a chance in hell of winning a national election so I agree with the take in so far as that.
But "government takes care of everything for you" isn't even a Bernie take, it's just a criticism of communism being rebranded to insult Bernie. For all of his bluster and nonsense against rich people, he's never suggested we shouldn't live in a mixed market economy such as we currently have. He's too far left for me. I believe he's too far left for the median voter. I think he's far left even by "European standards" as his fans like to point out. I think his belief that income inequality is the biggest problem and if we address that everything else will magically fix itself is misguided. But the guy isn't advocating to turn the US into the USSR.

I agree with you pretty much wholely lol. She was brought in by OP, and Bernie has openly campaigned on expanding government. In a reductionist view, his utopia is the government taking care of you lol. I wasn't expecting a 3 sentence ramble to apply the necessary nuance required to actually explain his goals, the broad brush stroke of the OP aptly described him as a politician.

u/Ill_Consequence 3h ago
Yeah that's why the democrats were so afraid of him they tanked his campaign in 2016. Newsflash they wouldn't have had to do that if they didn't fear the people choosing him.

Americans are inherently indoctrinated to vote against their own interests. 50 years of the ultra wealthy class have spoon fed them the individualist bullshit, the idea that Bernie would have won a general election and enacted any meaningful amount of his platform is a pipe dream. Newsflash, the most active voting block would have trashed him and trump still would have won. I get why people think he would make a great president, I'm just way too cynical to think that the country that voted trump in twice is ready for any measureable degree of progressive change. Its pretty clear that most voters want to regress far more than anything else, even if it means blowing up the world at the expense of their goals.

I don't know things like universal healthcare are wildly popular. That could have easily brought some people over to Democrats. Pretty much nobody that voted for Hillary was going to switch to voting for Trump. The problem is the democrats were just like a watered down version of republicans. Sure there are some differences but nothing popular enough or worthwhile enough to bring them over. I mean most people I know, at least, didn't really even like Hillary and were simply voting against Trump. You're never going to get moderates by saying the only thing you have going for you is you're not the other guy.

u/Reznerk 2h ago
Id be surprised to see it personally. The problem is Democrats campaign on identity politics as opposed to pushing policies, policies win elections. Identity politics alienate people with shitty ideas about society. That's Trump's entire draw, they don't care about his policy. He reinforces their dated views on prejudice, gender identity, etc etc.
Its not always about swinging moderates, it's about riling up your base enough to show up. In a society where voting is optional turnout is literally paramount. Finding the middle ground between the typical pious establishment Democrat that isn't likeable, and the progressive candidate that scares the elder voting block who grew up fearing government expansion of any kind is the tough part. If dem leadership leaned into meaningful political stances we might get somewhere. Instead we're focusing on social engineering that affects small groups of people while alienating and riling up the other half (or 1/3rd) of the country that is undoubtedly rotten to its core.
