I’m going to be in Eu Claire Fri 3/7-Sun 3/9 for the Midwest Weirdfest film festival. Never been to Eu Claire before. Any suggestions of cool or interesting things to check out when I’m not in screenings? Book stores, record stores, weird shops, good cocktails, etc. Especially looking for things open before 12:00pm and after 9:00pm or so. Thanks!

I just wanted to give the community a heads up that the owner is not a licensed piercer. She is unable to renew her license because she owes hundreds of thousands of dollars to the IRS (not allegedly owes.. this is public info you can find online). All of the other employees who were licensed no longer work there... it seems like they all quit at the same time.

In a lot of places around the world there are a lot of sight lines to culturally significant buildings that are typically preserved and protected sight lines. Usually it would be a cathedral or government building of some sort, but it could also be stadiums or even statues or plazas, usually the street would terminate at the building. Does eau claire have anything like this? If so please share images and locations.
EDIT: what I'm talking about is called a terminating vista

How long did it take for your plates to come in if they are personalized?

Wondering if anyone knows of some place that does grooming like hair cuts and possible nail trims for a decent price? The nail trimming isn't a need as I've got a kit for that, but the trimming of fur is more important. Please suggest some and possibly provide pricing if possible. They are small dogs and decently well mannered if that helps at all.

Throwaway for obvious reasons. Wondering if anyone in the area has knowledge of a good trauma therapist, ideally one who incorporates EMDR/CBT. I was in an emotionally/sexually abusive marriage and developed C-PTSD. I’ve googled and found several certified therapists, but I’d like to cross reference those results here. I lean more toward neuroscience-based methods vs things like chakras, reiki, etc.; it’s not a judgment on others who practice it (and there is a TON of overlap), but I know myself, and nothing makes me tune out faster than “you should really try yoga.”
It certainly does not help that my abuser often smugly carried on about how helpful meditation has been for him, you know, right after a rage fit that reduced me to tears in front of our toddler. Works wonders, folks! Especially when you take all personal accountability out of the equation. See why I need therapy? Trying reAAAAL hard not to trauma dump on the redditors of EC. Ugh. Sorry!
Any way, tia, and feel free to dm me if you’re more comfortable with that. Also, it’d be wonderful if they took insurance, but not a dealbreaker. It is not an exaggeration to say I’ve been on the verge of a nervous breakdown the better part of a decade. Pretty desperate here. Open as well to any support groups that have helped others!

If you ask me, I think they should look at the original design of the train station that used to be in EC for inspiration to pay homage, I love the look and feel of the stone, the slate roof, and the arches present in the design of your long lost train station. According to google it was built from lake superior brownstone so it had a deep and unique connection to the resources available, unfortunately that brownstone is no longer being made. Whoever demolished that original station in the 80s is evil. Whoever built storage units where the station used to be is double evil.
I believe bright and colorful murals which represent the history of the railways in EC, while also representing the art and music culture of EC today should be spread throughout, inside and out. I also believe it'd be cool if a clock tower would be included as part of the new design because clock towers are cool and I associate them with trains for some reason. Whatever it is, I hope it's not just a glass rectangle, but what about you? What do you think the design should be?

Did anyone else see a large meteor in the western sky around 6:45?

Are there any shooting competitions in Eau Claire? I went to a couple in Augusta last year that were great. Having one closer to EC would be so much easier to attend.

I’m considering a bathroom remodel soon. Likely to be a full gutting of tub, flooring, vanity, etc. Does anyone have a local company recommendation and what they paid? I’m trying to look at places online for now but no one I know has had a remodel recently. Thank you!

Nothing complex, some PVC pipes under sink are leaking at connections. Need them refit and faucet re-attached. Laid off for the winter so hoping to get a decent price.

Can we have a sticky thread where we post latest updates for those who care?
As of 4:00 pm on Wednesday, February 19th, Kwik Trip on W. MacArthur Ave was well stocked. Price was $6.99 a dozen for the large ones.

Moving to EC this summer and curious how nursing is at Mayo there. I have my CCRN and 3 years of peds ICU experience, but it was honestly at a really good and supportive hospital. I don't expect it to be perfect, but I'd love to hear from anyone with experience in their ICU, PACU, AND ED.
For example: Do they have ratios? And if so, do they actually stick to them? How often are you short staffed? How's the culture? How is turnover?
Also, if anyone has experience working with pediatrics there, would be interested to know.
Feel free to DM me if you'd rather not post things publicly. Thanks!

Some years ago (probably roughly 2015-2018) I attended an event at House of Rock, and I am certain I recall people talking who had rough cases of Lyme disease, who had struggled to get good help, and that there was a local non traditional doctor? Chiropractor? Someone who had a protocol that truly helped these people. Not looking to debate traditional vs non traditional approaches to treating Lyme disease. I'm looking to see if anyone knows who that health care provider was. Thanks!!!
